I had a Twilight cake done here and my son’s trampoline cake. Cakes were done with fondant with a picture I showed her. Exactly what I wanted, cake was only $ 35 with no deposit. Finally a shop that trust their customers.

AWESOME. We recently had our wedding at the Pelham Inn and could not have been happier with our cake selection. The team at Sugar Coated Bakery from our initial tasting to the end could not have been more helpful. Cake was delicious and the price could not be beat. We were even able to add a custom fondant patriots player popping out of the side. Highly recommend this bakery!

I was referred to Jen the owner by a coworker for my wedding cake. We met once for a consultation. I brought some pictures and she asked me some questions about my wedding (size, style, colors). The next day she emailed me some photos of cakes. They were all gorgeous and I gave her feedback on a few. My wedding was last week. The cake was delivered to the site. It was reasonably priced, beautiful and delicious. Everyone ate every bite. I ate half the leftover top in the hotel room the next night myself after a month of a no carb diet! Perfection!

Sugar coated bakery has my respect for many reasons. First, a small business which obviously has the owners heart and soul poured into it (no small feat to keep it going I’m sure). Second, they have a nice selection of items to eat, and the selection changes. Third, I can go in for a moon pie and sometimes get lucky to get one before it makes it into the case. Fourth, the creations here are obviously produced by a master, the items are so rich that portion control is automatic… you can’t possibly eat a whole cupcake or moon pie. You need to find out the remaining reasons for yourself… you won’t be disappointed. I just found this bakery a couple of months ago, and I hope it’s here for many, many years to come. Deserving of five stars! Thank you for running a great bakery!

I found this bakery through a Groupon and I’ve been a customer since. Everyone was a fan of all the cakes. The ladies loved the Kentucky Derby cake we ordered for my friend’s Kentucky Derby bridal shower.
For my own bridal shower, my sister in law surprised me with a beautiful 3D wedding down cake that was so pretty that I didn’t want to cut it.
For our wedding, I surprised my husband with a Game of thrones cake. Jenn was able to construct the cake with all the details via email. Everyone raved about it at our wedding.
Pricing was very reasonable and it tasted great.

I used Sugar Coated Bakery for my wedding (8÷23÷2014).
It was perfect for our budget. I met with Jennifer once and she didn’t miss a beat the day of the wedding. =) The cake was amazing and the guests loved it! I was very happy that I was referred to you.

Sugar Coated Bakery has really cute and fun cake decorating classes — a fun ladies night out activity. I do recommend this class, however suggest steering away from their official «ladies night» classes and stick to a regular one (that is likely to be ladies only anyway). Ladies Night classes are $ 7.50 more per person for the right to BYOB, a communal bag or chips labeled as «appetizers» when you make the reservation, and extra ½ hour for class that is just because she doesn’t have enough tools to cover everyone so you have to wait while others use it. Which typically would be more than fine while sipping cocktails if I wasn’t expected to pay more for the wait time. Unfortunately I will not be returning to this class or establishment due to the service I received when I expressed how I was surprised appetizers meant a bag of chips, however I do recommend it for others (this was my 3^rd class, I had brought a total of 18 people over the course of these 3 classes, so I obviously wasn’t meaning to complain). I don’t particularly care for the dry-​ish cakes, overly dyed red velvet and the style of Butter Cream, but obviously that is personal taste and she wouldn’t be in business if people didn’t like it.

First time visiting the place and was immediately welcomed. Not sure if it was because it was a Saturday afternoon or what. I was on a mission to find a birthday cake for my niece only to find that the shop’s usual amount of cakes were out. They has this cute little mini toffee cake but the taste is yet to be determined. What sold me was the chocolate truffles, particularly the chocolate coffee truffle.
Will definitely return for more of those truffles and try ordering a specialty birthday cake one day.

CUPCAKE BAKING BIRTHDAY PARTY!
We had our daughter’s 8^th birthday party here with her friends– they had a BLAST! Jen and her team were SO fun and *patient* with over a dozen girls on a sugar high! The bakery took care of everything– from decorating the bakery for the party, to teaching a baking class, to serving pizza/​drinks, to presents, to even taking pictures!
The party was very organized, too. There was an activity while we waited for everyone to arrive, then the girls got to make cupcakes. Our daughter got to choose any TWO cupcake flavors of her choice (yum!). Each girl took part in making the batter and learned how to make fondant decorations. They frosted and decorated both of their cupcakes– they ate the first after singing ‘Happy Birthday’, and the other cupcake was a gift to take home.
There are three party «tiers», depending on what you want. We brought the pizza and aprons for the girls to wear, but the bakery will supply these things if you choose. Something unexpected I loved was a logo t-​shirt the bakery gave my daughter that was signed by all of her friends :)
It was a stress-​free party for sure– all we had to do as parents was sit back and relax.

Jenn, the owner, does a wonderful job decorating cakes & cupcakes! I have been going to her bakery since she opened and often recommend her bakery. I do notify people that she uses Italian buttercream frosting as many people are not familiar with that type and consistency. Her designs and creativity are remarkable. She has done several birthday cakes for us as well as our wedding rehearsal cake!

Sugar Coated Bakery uses real Italian Meringue Buttercream and it is out of this world. I dream about this buttercream. It is that good. They also have cute dog treats you can take home to the pup. There are several places around that have cupcakes, but I always make the drive to Dracut for Sugar Coated!

Unfortunately I wish I could give this place a better rating but I cannot…
My cake came out very visually appealing! It was beautiful!
But, It tasted horrible! The frosting was GROSS! The cake… No words! It was dry and tasted nasty! It was supposed to be a red velvet cake with buttercream frosting, but the red velvet tasted out of the box, AT BEST. And the buttercream. Disgusting. My guests did not eat the cake.
What a waste of $ 35.
I give this place 2 stars for the appearance. I would give it more if I could’ve actually eaten my cake. Isn’t that the point of ordering a cake?

I was not very pleased with this place. The people are nice and very helpful, but the food could be a lot better. They have a very small selection of bakery items. They only had about 4 different cupcakes available, a few cookies, and an assortment of pastries. The bottom row was all pre-​made cakes. I feel like this place is more of a ‘pre-​order’ place where people go to order birthday cakes for parties. That being said, I was very disappointed with the cupcakes. Like others have said, the frosting is very hard and waxy. Almost like it was frozen, and then half defrosted. The cake was alright. Tasted like a standard box cake mix. The cannoli I bought was very bitter and liquidy. Possibly because it was not made with the standard pastry cream filling, but ricotta. For the price, however, it’s not that bad. Most places charge 3 bucks a cupcake. I bought 3 cupcakes and a cannoli for about 7 bucks.

CUPCAKE ONLY REVIEW:
The elusive vanilla/​vanilla cuppy seems to have completely escaped the clutches in the deep of this Merrimack Valley haunt. If you’re ever traveling along the lone outskirts of Dracut on Rt. 38/​Bridge St. towards New Hampshire and decide to yourself «hey, I’d like a ⁷⁰⁄₃₀ cupcake the circumference of a silver dollar, overcooked like a hockey puck, with greasy, waxy, lardy „frosting“ and no semblance of vanilla that probably has the half-​life of a twinkie», break out $ 2 and make a left after Dunks.

A very cute spot to grab a snack. I love the beautifully decorated treats, and they taste as awesome as they look. Bring a gorgeous box of cupcakes to a friend’s house, or grab a black moon for yourself. You will not be sorry.

I decided to try Sugar Coated Bakery as they offer creative options on birthday cakes for kids parties. Over the past few years I’ve been disappointed to watch more and more bakeries adopt the «if you bring us a picture, we’ll scan it and print it onto your child’s cake» school of decorating.
I was thrilled to learn that Sugar Coated Bakery offers custom decorating without having to place an order months in advance. With less than a week’s notice, Jen created a custom cake with an edible, 3 dimensional Big Bird for my daughter.
The cake was not only visually appealing. It was moist, just the right consistency, and very tasty. The frosting was fantastic, and several of the party-​goers claimed that it was the most delicious birthday cake they’ve eaten in years. I’ve found a new supplier for all my birthday cakes.

Jen is a friend of a friend — and has made me 2 custom cakes, and a batch of custom cupcakes. Her work is amazing — and delicious! :)
I got to see her bakery the day it opened — and was amazed at how quickly she got set up. Her store is spotless and very inviting– someplace you want to sit and have coffee (and assorted amazing baked goods!).
She hand drew a very intricate fundraiser logo on the last cake I ordered– and I could not believe how gorgeous it came out! The cake itself was also delicious (Memere’s Favorite Marble Cake w/​fresh strawberries!). So moist and yummy– there was none left over! :0)

Sugar Coated Bakery opened very recently in Dracut, just south of the NH border on Route 38. This cute little bake shop specializes in custom cakes for birthdays, weddings, and special occasions. There are albums in the shop, chock full of photos of the different kinds that cake be made.
Besides cakes, this bakery offers cupcakes, pastries, muffins, cookies, pies, tarts, bars, brownies, breads, and other small sweet treats. The prices here are very fair, many individual items priced under $ 2.50 each. Sugar free and diabetic friendly treats are also offered (priced slightly higher than the regular baked goods). New England Coffee by the cup is also available.
I picked up a few baked goods from Sugar Coated Bakery over the weekend. The thick small chocolate chip cookies were crunchy on the outside and dry and sweet inside (less butter than my recipe). The walnut brownies were very firm on the outside and semi soft and sweet tasting inside. The raspberry almond bar was really good and went well with my coffee.
The few other customers here were picking up special order cakes and the couple in front of me picked up a Cookie Monster birthday cake with lots of blue frosting and small chocolate chip cookies sticking out of the mouth. I wished I had my camera with me at the time. That cake looked very yummy and me want cookie!!!
