It’s not about that it’s about keeping your clients happy and coming back. Home Depot would handle totally different they would have give me a discount… I’m so disappointed. Lost a loyal client

Almost as good as All American was. They’ve got a little bit of everything here. Having coupons helps and being a member is a plus. Staff is always friendly and they are always available to help or answer any questions.

The service here is great very helpful and friendly. They have everything I need they also order things online for you there prices are better then Home Depot. If you are a gardener and you need help in anything ask for Martin

It took me a long time to visit Hometown Hardware & Garden in Downey… and I say that regretfully so.
While you may not find all of your household project and renovation needs here, there are some pretty sweet deals on other items.
Earlier this week (3÷23÷15) I picked out a few 4″ succulent plants for $ 2.99 each. They were all very healthy. I planted them that day and they are doing very well. Succulents are very easy to care for, though. There were larger ones too.
I bought a metal pinwheel for $ 5.99. Sure, you could get the flimsy ones at other retail stores for much cheaper, but this is metal (made in China)! You can rattle can spray it if it gets old and faded.
The last thing I bought was some «grape glitz glitter spray» for $ 5.99. It’s a rather small can, but I won’t be using too much of it except for a few things I am decorating for my two daughters’ rooms.
The store isn’t perfect. It is organized. But it’s a hardware and garden store. Even Home Depot and Lowe’s and such have webs hanging around the aisles. Spiders gotta eat too, right? I kind of like it because it has that «hometown» feel.
The lady at the register was super nice. The people working for floor didn’t help me at all much less make eye contact with me, but they were busy helping others.
Other interesting things worth noting…
There was a $ 1.99 and up DVD stand. Also, if you need an extra key or a set made, this seems like a good place to do so.
Several months ago I called this store to see if they rented out walk-​behind gas-​powered aerators. They don’t, but I remember two things about that call: 1) it was kind of a pain to finally get a human voice and 2) when I did get a human, the lady I spoke to was very nice and said, «I wish we rented those out.» Me too. Aerating your lawn is very beneficial.
I detest the parking lot in this area so much. Mainly because some douchebag always goes the wrong way down the aisles, racing to the exit. Paramount and Florence, though. Two of the busiest streets in the D-​o-​dub.
Check it out if you get a chance. They always have coupons in those mailers if you live here. I used a $ 5 off any purchase of $ 15 or more. I’ve seen those coupons quite a bit lately. I think I got mine out of the Downey Patriot (newspaper).

Had everything I needed. Much better way to shop.

Well this is a pretty cool neighborhood hardware and garden store, I like! They have everything the big stores do and they have a 2^nd anniversary sale currently going on which showcases a nice size bbq gas grill for $ 79.99 that I’m kinda eyeballin’, hmm hmm hmmmmm.

This is how a home improvement store should be! Knowledgable staff on all topics and where thing are within the store along with a friendly attitude. Really felt like a small town kind of hardware store. I came in looking for a hose timer for my new grass and Greg was so helpful. I was looking for a specific brand they carried but Greg mentioned that they carry another brand that was going on sale later in the week. Checked the reviews on the brand he recommended which ended up being better and waaaay cheaper with the discount ($ 15 from $ 40). Told him I was going to be out of town so I needed to buy today. He ended up giving me the advertised price so I ended up buying a hose that was going on sale as well. Been coming back ever since for all my home improvement needs.

I’ve been meaning to write a review for months now and my last visit just reminded me I had to. This place is no Home Depot. They don’t have a huge selection of everything you could possibly need for DIY home improvements but what they do offer is an AMAZING customer experience.
I grew up thinking All American Hardware was everywhere. It wasn’t until I was about 18 and I told a friend from another city about All American and they had no clue what I was talking about. I’m still super sad it shutdown.
I went in the other day to purchase some fiber glass for my nieces transportation project (yeah, we go all out). Well they only had large pieces and when I told one of the employees I only needed a small piece they were gracious enough to go to the back, look for scrap pieces, walk me to the register and tell the cashier not to charge me for the scrap fiber glass. It reminded me of those old shows where you had a tab at the corner store and they took your work for it when you’d say you’d come back to pay.
Before this visit I had another great visit. I went to Home Depot to purchase a door chime for our small business we have. Well it was such crap. Did not work. We went to exchange it and it looked as if all the chimes had been returned by clients and re packaged to be sold. They’re perfectly fine with selling crap. Well I stopped by Hometown Hardware & Garden and purchased a sensor door chime for $ 10 less than Home Depot and months later, it’s still working fantastic.
Support local small business. You may not be able to do all your shopping here but at least give them a try first. Keep up the great work Hometown Hardware & Garden.

I Loved All American and I love Hometown Hardware. They are Courteous and Friendly. I’m a regular, for Paint supplies, household cleaners, light bulbs and hardware supplies. Garden tools and supplies.
I know what I want, so close and it’s local. Lowe’s is too big for me. My house keys are perfectly made. I took a key to be made at Lowe’s, it was made wrong 10 times at Lowe’s and wrong each time. I got a refund from Lowe’s and went to, «HomeTown Hardware,» They got it right the first time! They have a lil bit of everything for my Family needs. They have a great selection Senior supplies (bath chairs, canes and walker etc) for my mom. Curtain rods etc.
I would recommend shopping there, it’s in the shopping center by CVS, off florence and on the Paramount Blvd. side of the street.

I think I found good replacement the mom and I decided go there check it out after 14 months they been in business after All American home center close down

Good hardware store. Not as big as All American. Still great help and friendly staff. I recommend to those who need help with home projects. Prices are fair and products are of good quality.

This is an awesome neighborhood hardware store. My mom and I went in there to buy a band for the vacuum and came out with a grip of stuff. The staff is amazing, not only do they help but they go out of there way to get you the answer that you need. I was extremely surprised and impressed with their attention. This is the first time we have been to Hometown Hardware & Garden since we moved to Downey in March. My mom was immediately hooked. Lucky me! If she is hooked means more housework for me lol
