A recently opened family business in Devon, PA, we make authentic Thai cuisine. Come in and try our Tom Yum soup with your choice of vegetables, chicken or shrimp! Also our Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles or Pad See Ew. We also have items such as roasted half duck and salmon.

History

Established in 2015.

Opened in December of 2015, Mongkon Café replaces the former Mayuree Café. In the kitchen you’ll find lovely grandma as well as mother who deliveries and serves as well. In the dining room you could see either brother, sister or father serving and you’l usually find the uncle delivering!

Mongkon Café is quickly becoming one of our favorite take out restaurants. Our favorites include the Pad Thai, Masaman Curry and the Drunken Noodles.

Great experience. Immediately upon being seated the waiter/​owner turned on a space heater for us. The temperature the entire time was accommodating. The décor was interesting and enhanced our Thai experience. Now on to the food… we started with the fried spring rolls which were brought out very quickly upon ordering and were delicious. Next I had the Tom Yum soup. It was so flavorful and loaded with shrimp. For our entrees we had basil chicken fried rice. Again this was extremely flavorful with the perfect amount of spice to it. We also had the red chicken curry. This was the best curry I have had in a long time and I’ve been to most Thai restaurants downtown and would consider myself a «foodie». Upon finishing the waiter served us homemade eclairs that were delicious. This was a fantastic experience overall. Food was great as was our service.

We were the other couple there the night Michelle K, who also posted a review, was there. I can’t disagree with anything she said. I froze my toes off at dinner! We were the only guests in the restaurant for the first half hour and we were seated in a very cold dining room next to a space heater that wasn’t turned on. The space heater was moved out of the room to make room for Michelle K and her daughter at the table it was sitting on (there were at least 5 – 6 empty tables nearby they could have just moved it to. I don’t understand why it wasn’t turned on for either of us. Hospitality 101: make the guests that do come to the restaurant enjoy being there so they hopefully come back. The décor is really bad. It was tacky and outdated to a point beyond funny and moving in the direction of sad. The reason that I’m giving this restaurant 4 out of 5 is solely on the food. It was excellent. We had beef drunken noodle, chicken pad thai and chicken massaman curry. They were all excellent. We ate them in a hurry due to the cold and then my fiancé and I decided we would never go back for a sit down dinner there again. On the bright side, we will certainly make Mongkon a part out our regular take out options.

Daughter & I arrived at 8 for Friday night dinner. Only 1 other couple there. It was freezing. No heat in dining area. Décor outdated. Carpet needs replaced and the table cloths were old & covered with plastic & plates etc very outdated. Server was owner’s daughter & seemed very nice, but needs to be a bit more attentive, especially when only 4 people in restaurant. Couple behind us weren’t checked on at all.
We ordered Tom Yum and Bean Thread soups. While it took over 15 minutes to receive our bowls of soup (keep in mind it’s 15 degrees outside & no heat inside), they were very tasty & welcome warmth once we finally got them. Our entrees, drunken noodles and another spicy chicken dish, didn’t come out until 9. We enjoyed them, but waited entirely too long. Someone else waited 30 min for spring rolls to go. And then there is the dessert: lava cake & fried bananas. Definitely disappointing, but that’s often the case with Asian restaurants. I find most oreder pre-​made, frozen desserts & pop them in the microwave, so we won’t hold that against them.
We will give them another try (when it’s not freezing) based on quality of food & the fact that it’s family owned, but they definitely need to figure out how to get simple entrees out to guests in a timely manner, especially when the restaualrant is empty.

Mongkon café replaced the previous Thai restaurant. The phone number hasn’t changed, so be clear of any confusion. FYI, Mongkon is still a Thai restaurant, but it does have different menu selection from the previous restaurant. I’ve tried this restaurant only once so far.
As soon as you step in, you’ll get overwhelmed with how decorative the inside of the restaurant is. Seriously, it’s really colorful in there. Not an eyesore or anything!
For my first visit, I have tried the drunken noodles with shrimp, green thai curry dish with shrimp, and egg rolls. The food is authentic (the cook/​owner is a cute, old Thai-​native woman). I didn’t feel bloated or gross after eating all that. The food was not at all greasy, but still packed flavors. Be sure to let your server know how spicy you want your food. The green curry burnt my mouth, which was what I wanted.
The parking lot if pretty spacious as this is located in the suburbs, ten minutes away from the King of Prussia mall area.
To reiterate, Mongkon Café is the new thai restaurant replacing the previous thai restaurant called Mayuree.
