History

Established in 1996.

SummerPlace Inn was born in January of 2009. It was a culmination of vision for a luxury place to stay while visiting Destin with a fair price, combined with, the desire to stand alone, above and beyond others, when it comes to service. The hotel itself was built in 1998 and has had 2 complete renovations since it’s orignal opening.

Mistelle L.

Manager

Mistelle is the General Manager of the award winning SummerPlace Inn. She partnered with Pinnacle Hotel Management (the owning company) in the fall of 2007. In January of 2009, SummerPlace Inn was born. Prior to joining Pinnacle and launching SummerPlace Inn, Mistelle served in regional oversight positions with emphasis on team management, marketing, revenue management and customer service. While SummerPlace Inn is an independent, boutique hotel — Mistelle has over 13 years experience with Marriott and Hilton hotels. SummerPlace Inn is also fortunate to have an award winning staff, inlcuding the properties Assistant General Manager, Jenny. Jenny has been with SummerPlace Inn since 2008.

Awesome hotel. Similar to a Hampton Inn as far as breakfast, lobby, staff quality, but rooms are closer to Hilton. The linens were all fresh, clean and comfortable. They provided a microwave and a frig without a request, which is always appreciated. The location is great too. There are plenty of things to do for fun or places to eat within walking distance. I’m not familiar with the city, but I was able to keep busy close by. The staff was also very nice. I would absolutely recommend this place, and the price was the best part — but maybe because it was January? Either way, count on me staying here next time too.

Overall not bad for the price but they were remodeling and I wish they would let people know before hand. Toaster at the breakfast didn’t work but not a huge issue. Room was standard and not bad. Have stayed at much better but also worse. Staff is friendly.

Loud rooms. Between the ac noise and the baseball game in the morning I didn’t get much sleep.
The room was clean and the bed was ok. It wasn’t made well and we had to fix the bottom sheets in the middle of the night. There were only two full size towels.
Also, small thing buy the front desk staff ignored us and we were left without a friendly greeting on arrival or exit.

Emerald Coast Parkway. Destin, Fla. Stayed here in mid December. Good clean room for the money. $ 49.00 a night. North side of 98. Across from beach. Nice clean rooms. Small fridge, microwave, coffee maker, hair dryer, iron, ironing board, ceiling fan and WiFi. Heated pool inside and non-​heated pool outside. Inside pool a little small compared to the one we were in in Nashville, but not bad. Hot tub outside was nice. One washer and dryer on 2nd floor. Free faxing to send and receive. Continental breakfast offered from 7−10am. Fresh waffles, oatmeal, boiled eggs, and more. Near airport.

Don’t expect to check in before 4pm (their advertised check in time). And be aware that the hotel is literally a stone’s skip away from the airport. Mind you, the only aircraft flying into that place is Lear jets and helicopters; it’s not like it’s jumbo jets, but you will still hear/​see them, especially if you’re out in the pool.
The room was nice, and they offer a generous military discount: we got a King room with a balcony for $ 166 a night (all balconies face the Gulf, but there are huge resorts in front of this place so don’t expect a view of anything but the strip… it’s possible some of the rooms have an ocean view, but ours certainly didn’t).
Their WiFi is free, but terrrrrible!!! My laptop worked pretty well most of the time, but my iPad wouldn’t work at all (First World Problems!!!).
Only one towel rack (over the toilet, which i think is grosssss!!!) and a hook on the back of the door in the bathroom. Nowhere to put hand towels or any wet beach items. In addition to a hand towel (which we ended up having to leave on the counter where it never dried!!), we each had a bath towel, swimwear and a beach towel… Where is that stuff supposed to go? Considering we are across the street from the beach you’d think they would make it a bit easier for people to dry their stuff.
Speaking of the beach, this is not oceanfront. You have to cross Destins major roadway (4 lanes of traffic) & troop through some resorts before you get there. If you drive, parking is pretty abundant and it’s free!
Overall, a good deal, and I would consider staying here again!

A no frills hotel.
The rooms were clean and had a small fridge and microwave. There’s a small indoor & outdoor pool with a hot tub (outside).
The breakfast is simple, nothing fancy. But it was busy during peak summer-​time.
When I paid for the room, I had indicated that there were 4 of us staying in the room. However, we ended up with a king bed and a pull-​out couch. The pull-​out couch is really uncomfortable though. I felt bad for our friend that slept on it.
There’s not much in the hotel’s vicinity other than chain stores. Drive out a bit for places to eat or such.

CLEAN ROOMS. At a place with no affiliation and/​or points clubs sometimes it’s all that matters.
Decent size rooms, microwaves and coin laundry (for the business traveler like me…)
Walk to the Back Porch restaurant, or Joe’s Crab Shack, also next to a go-​cart track hence low-​star count. Lots of Kiddos running around the hotel as well… expected in a tourist town.

We stayed here in August and enjoyed our stay. Very nice host and cleaning crew. The rooms seemed very spacious (since my wife travels with everything including the kitchen sink) Room was clean and I recommend an balcony room which was very handy for drying our towels from the beach. This hotel was very quiet and peaceful (which I seem to never be able to find anywhere else I stay) no running kids and no one standing in the hallways talking loudly during all hours of the night. A rare find! Although the only ice machine is on the second floor and don’t trust the cold drink machines Parking never seem to be a problem either, when we returned from our outings we were always able to find a spot right out the front door. Over all we enjoyed our stay And will return if ever we’re in this area again.

I stayed here in the beginning of February and had the most wonderful time! We were given a room with a balcony on the top floor overlooking the gulf. My companion and I stayed for five nights and enjoyed every minute of it.
The staff was incredibly personable, knowledgable, and FUN! I have to commend them on one particular night when they went above and beyond with their service. It was time to enjoy some champagne up in our room and I snapped the top of the cork right off the bottle. After I stopped laughing at how ridiculous I am I called down to the front desk. They politely laughed along as I regaled them with my story of clumsiness and said that they would see if housekeeping happened to have a corkscrew. Maybe ten minutes later I received a call from the front desk that while they couldn’t find any in the hotel, they had gone out and bought me one. They delivered it to my door and saved the night!

Nice clean hotel with an accommodating staff. My only issue was the location under the approach to the local airport. If planes flying overhead is cool with you then you should be good to go.

Great location and walking distance to the beach, but not the greatest service. It is on Highway 98 which is the main road to go up and down Destin. With that said — beaches, restaurants, amusement parks, shopping centers, and the mall are within driving distance. Although it is not a beach front hotel, a 5 – 10 minute walk will get you to the beach across the street. It’s not a shaggy or shady hotel, so its worth the stay.
The hotel is decent, nothing fancy at all albeit I liked the fact that it had an indoor and outdoor swimming pool. Just your standard hotel. The reason I give the place 2 stars was due to the fact that we were given a handicap room, which is fine, but the water in the restroom did not drain properly. It was disgusting at first so we had to use about 5 – 7 towels on the floor to prevent further flooding. We informed the front desk who then advised us that they would send someone to look at it, but that never happened.
On top of that, they did not offer to comp or discount us for our dissatisfaction and issues with the hotel room. For me, customer service should always be the number one priority — especially for a hotel. That means apologize to the customer for the problem and offer a resolution to ease the mind of a unhappy customer. Unfortunately, this place failed to do so which definitely takes away some stars.
FYI: Complimentary breakfast — very simple though. Cereal, waffles, juice, muffins, and fruits. No savory bacon or fluffy eggs.
