Super great spot for a hotel. I wanted to get away for a weekend and decided on this because of the great deal I got on a room here. When I first got here I realized just how great of a spot it is. It’s literally right across from the river and within walking distance of most of the great things Des Moines has to offer. Interior is nice, looks much fancier than a Hampton Inn should. Room was great. Only thing I take off a star for was a beetle crawling across the bathroom floor. It’s ok, I killed it. You can walk right out the door, up the street a block and guess what? One of the top bars in the country. You walk a block down the street from that and guess what? Another one of the top bars in the country. Walk another couple blocks and you have all of Court Ave in front of you. This hotel is awesome. It’s nice, breakfast is good, it’s close to super awesome bars, breweries, restaurants, museums, bridges, trails and the Cubs stadium. The BEST place to stay in Des Moines.

I haves stayed at my share of Hampton Inns and this might be one of the best. Great location within walking distance of the Court St entertainment district. Very modern and spacious rooms, Doesn’t get any better than this at a Hampton Inn.

After staying at the Hotel Fort, I was a little bit leery about staying in downtown Des Moines again. Upon arrival, the staff was welcoming and helpful. The hotel and the rooms were impeccable and stylish. Well done, Hampton Inn. A+, 5-stars, jazz hands… you get the picture.

I was reluctant to choose this hotel because of the relative shortage of reviews, but we were pleasantly surprised and impressed! If I was rating based on our evening from check in overnight, it’d be 5-star. The staff was tremendous, accommodations clean and comfortable. The nicest Hampton I’ve ever been in. Attached parking garage is $ 15, which is a bit steep… but not so much as to complain about. It’s nice that you walk directly into the hotel from the garage; and my guess is the parking fee is to pay for the massive structure. Unfortunately, it’s the little things that separate 4-star places from 5’s. The pool was definitely on the cold side and we had to help ourselves into the closet to get pool towels. At breakfast, several items were out. Also ran out of coffee. And the table we were at was all off-kilter and wobbly. It’s not the end of the world, but again — there’s a difference in attentiveness and detail at 5-star places vs. 4-stars. Perhaps they’re still ironing out the kinks in being a new establishment. I hope that’s the case. I can confidently say I’m a fan and if I’m back in the Des Moines area, I wouldn’t hesitate to come back here again.

This is my first trip to Des Moines and I chose to stay here since I’ve stayed at other Hampton Inn properties. All things considered they have been great. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The hotel overlooks the river which is a great view. I would stay here again. Make sure to walk over to the High Life Lounge if you stay here. It is a local watering hole with great food and drink.

Wow. What an amazing hotel experience. My husband and I were passing through town on a trip. We found a restaurant that we really wanted to eat at so just to avoid having to drive all over DM we decided to call the restaurant and get a recommendation as to where to stay that’s near them. They told us Embassy Suites. We called Embassy Suites but they were out of our price range but immediately set us up with Hampton Inn that’s just a few blocks from them. So we walk in and mention it’s our anniversary. They promptly put us in a suite that overlooked the river and some fireworks from the Cubs game. What a beautiful room they assigned us to. The hotel has only been open for a couple of week so the smell of fresh paint and carpet still permeated through the air. It was pouring down rain so the hotel called us a cab to get to the restaurant. They ALSO called the restaurant and told them we were coming so when we got there they knew we were celebrating as well(EATATALBA!!!). The rain stopped so we could walk back to the hotel. On the way we grabbed a bottle of wine. Once we got back to the hotel and discovered that we had no corkscrew voila… the hotel came through again. They don’t carry wine but the hotel next door does. They promptly hooked us up with a corkscrew so we could continue to enjoy our evening. Everything about this place was top notch — from the staff, to the room, to the bed, to the shower, to the breakfast, to the entire facility. The friendliness of the staff was above and beyond and if we come back through DM anytime soon, there is no question as to where we will be staying.

It’s probably not fair to review a hotel on their second night of doing business, but so be it. This is a really nice Hampton and it opened exactly yesterday. Yep, the Google Earth view still shows a parking lot but I can promise you, there is a hotel here now! It still has the smell of new paint and new carpet throughout. I think that i was probably the first guest to use this toilet and this shower and sleep in this bed. That’s awesome. Nice view of the river area and there is plenty of street parking. We’ll see if I get a ticket but for now, I’d rather park on the street and take my chances rather than pay $ 15 a night for«self-parking.» Nice large room, but i might have been upgraded because of my Gold status with Hilton on top of the fact that the hotel doesn’t have that many reservations in their system yet. One weird thing. In addition to the usual light switches, there’s also a «master light switch» next to the door. I missed that when entered the room and went back to the front desk for a new room only to be told about the switch. That’s just odd.
