Biggz Pizza & Subs

Sorry… the pizza was horrible. Undercooked dough and horrible sauce. Too many other places to even waste your time with this one.

We ordered some pizzas around lunch time (12 – 12:30) at work. My friends like to make fun of me because I set a timer after I get off the phone when I order food, but this helps me to avoid standing around and wasting time during the Pick Up when I could be doing something more important. I couldn’t avoid it this time.
They told us 25 minutes, so I showed up around the half hour mark. Just to give you an idea of pizzeria timing (having worked for two years at a pizzeria), the average pizza with the average oven at the average temperature takes eleven minutes to cook. From the time a pizza goes in until the time the pizza comes out (unless you want it extra crispy), eleven minutes will cover most bases.
Back to our regularly scheduled review. I showed up at the half hour mark. There was nobody else inside the restaurant dining in and I only saw one other order ‘on deck’ for pick up. During lunchtime. The woman at the register told me that our pizzas would be ‘five more minutes’. That’s not unreasonable. I am not the entitled kind of consumer who kicks and screams and throws a fit over every little thing.
Ten minutes later, she told me that the first pizza was out of the oven and that the SECOND pizza would be ‘five more minutes’. While I am not a math-​magician, this amounts to roughly forty five minutes for two pizzas with no other orders going out (and based on the total lack of incoming phone calls while I was there) or coming in.
I grant a lot of leeway for a free lunch. My boss paid for it that day. The pizzas were just okay. Not a life-​altering religious experience nor the worst thing to happen to me in decades. They were doughy (read: undercooked) which I like to SOME extent (many people don’t), the toppings were sparse but to their credit, the pizza was extremely filling.
If it were my money, I wouldn’t order again from Biggz. I just wouldn’t. My gut instinct from writing bar and restaurant reviews for twelve years is that the business is a ‘pet project’ for somebody’s girlfriend or wife funded with some poor sap’s money that will probably be out of business within a year. That may sound mean, but I call them like I see ‘em.
Casillo’s (which previously occupied the same space) was nothing spectacular. Biggz is even less so. If I had a choice between Biggz and the neighboring John And Mary’s (which may be the cruelest thing that anyone in Buffalo has ever done to pizza in recorded history), I would probably make some mud pies out of divots in the ground and eat them instead. Within a one mile radius, Bianca’s over on Genesee is the belle of the ball by default.
Bottom Line: Pizzerias in Buffalo and the surrounding suburbs are legion. Most are mediocre, some are pretty good and a great many of them either have great wings OR great pizza, but rarely both. They all say they have the best fish fry in town and they are all lying about that (for those of you visiting from out of town). Biggs needs to work overtime to reach mediocre.

Used to be Casillo’s and that is where the similarity ends! I have had the wings, pizza and subs. As much as I dislike John and Mary’s they have no competition from this place. Their answering the phone starts the problems, orders wrong, little consideration for my time and very poor quality food. Save yourself the aggravation and go elsewhere.

I understand this place is a new business, but they really need to get their sh*t together! I’ve tried them on 3 different occasions now, and I am not impressed.
On the most recent time, I called to place a larger order for a small get together at my house. The phone rings forever before anyone picks up (this has occurred every time now). When someone finally answered, I ordered a large pizza, a small pizza, and 20 wings medium. I was told 30 minutes.
I went in about 35 – 40 minutes later hoping I could pick up the food right before my guests arrived. Nothing was ready upon my arrival. A couple of minutes later, the guy came over with a small pizza and a box labeled «single wing», and tried to cash me out. I told him that wasn’t my order. He asked what I was missing, and I replied, «Well, for one a large pizza, and the 10 other wings because I ordered a double, not single». I waited a couple more minutes as they all scrambled around. The lady looked over to me and said, «He never screws up» with a smile. All I could think was, well he just did!!! Ummm wtf?!
I finally received my order, paid, and left. When I got home I opened the boxes to realize that the double order of wings were completely plain — no sauce! What a buzz kill (Who the hell likes plain wings?!) We decided that was the final straw and we would stick with D’Agostino’s from now on.
I tried 3 times, but they couldn’t win me over. Not impressed.

I initially was excited to review this place after my first time coming here, since then I’ve started to realize that it takes a couple visits to get the full experience. I enjoyed that something other than corporate fast food was open around my work and had good food. However, with each time I came back my experience dwindled as well as my patience. I’ll break it down into six separate times I’ve gone to Biggz.
1^st — Ordered a Chicken Solvaki Sub. Was pleasantly surprised at how good it was, a little heavy on the oil but was delicious nonetheless.
2^nd — Ordered the same thing, a little less flavorful but still good!
3^rd — Again, ordered the same thing. This time though the onions weren’t really cooked on the grill and it tasted bland.
4^th — Decided to go for something different and ordered a Greek Chicken Salad. The description for a Greek Chicken Salad, «Strips of Marinated Chicken Breast. Topped with Feta Cheese and garnished with Pepperoncini, Greek Dressing, & Pita Bread on the side.» I called to order and the guy asks me, «what kind of dressing do you want with that?» Now I should have known that was the first red flag for what I was about to experience. I go to pick it up, it’s not even made. I was then asked if «it was okay to use sub lettuce or don’t I care?» Little did I know sub lettuce was always shredded. When it was finally done I was informed that «they were on their last bag of chicken and it was a little chintzy so the next time I come in they’ll load it up with more chicken.» Now I don’t know about you, but from what I found out is trying to eat shredded lettuce with Greek Dressing is pretty pointless since it falls right through the lettuce. After fighting with this already botched salad, I decided to try and soak some dressing up with the ‘pita’ I was given. This ‘pita’ was nothing more than a sub roll smothered in butter. It was like they had absolutely none of the ingredients to make this salad and instead of calling me back and telling me, they screwed me out of my money and gave me items that were similar to what I had ordered.
5^th — Now after that incident I pretty much swore them off for awhile until I figured to give them one final chance. I called on Monday, and I let it ring for a solid minute. Nobody answered, no machine picked up, nothing. I drove by on my way back to work, all the lights were out. No signs for hours, no reason for being closed. Again on Tuesday all the lights were out, no signs of use. I figured they finally bit the dust.
6^th AND FINAL — I called again Wednesday craving a Chicken Solvaki Sub. I was told 10 minutes and it’ll be ready. I gave them a good half an hour. I arrived, the cashier tells me, «about your sub, we didn’t have any chicken left so we replaced it with steak instead.» I informed him that I do NOT eat beef and I’m thinking ‘why would you even go ahead to assume that this was even the slightest bit okay?!’ They had my phone number to call me back if there was a problem, I gave them 20 additional minutes from the original 10 that were given to me. Why was this NOT addressed to me and made anyway? The lady, I’m assuming owns the place, says to me «Our shipment isn’t in yet, how about chicken fingers instead? They’re good, I just had one» I told her «no, that was okay». She just kept pushing me to change it. So I folded and let them use chicken fingers instead. Now this is where it gets good, their bright idea was to pull the steak off and replace it. Pull off something that’s already been seeping and soaking into the sub roll for however long and then replace it with deep fried chicken! The guy cashes me out; at full price, and then I got to sit there wasting my entire lunch break for TWO chicken fingers. At this point I’m incredibly annoyed and then to annoy me even more she tries to butter me up by complimenting my tattoos and then offering 10% off. I inform her I already cashed out and honestly, what in the hell was I going to do with 10% off? Save .65 on a $ 6.50 purchase? Wowza I’m blown away by the deal after the bullshit shenanigans I just went through, AGAIN! She then offered to take 10% off the next time I came in, I won’t hold my breath since at that point in time she had already owed me a load of chicken from screwing me on the other two purchases! And now that I think of it, they have given better deals to two other customers when I was there. One she gave $ 5 off and the other she gave a free pizza.
I tried to like this place and stick up for it, but do you honestly know how friggin repulsive it is to try and eat a deep fried chicken finger sub that’s already slathered in onions, oil, feta, and tastes like beef?! You have officially lost a customer!
