Trader Joe’s

I’m from Colorado and have only recently been introduced to Trader Joe’s. Maybe not having it for so long is why I’m not obsessed with it the way other people describe their feelings for this store.
Yes it’s a good store to get great deals on food and wine. Yes I am in love with Joe’s nut butter. And yes they have some tasty snacks. This isn’t my usual grocery store but it does make for a nice change.

Finally had the opportunity to come and and check this place out, huge selection of fresh herbs (plotted herbs) check, vast selection of various oils (not just sesame seed and olive oil) check, liquor store attached check. Overall this seems like a super cool place to shop and get different items you just can’t find everyday. My husband tells me how he loves coming here and getting beer and various other items. The only downside, is the parking. Its ridiculous! yes its downtown and things are going to be tight fitting but literally there is just a handful of places to park and it doesn’t make sense considering they just built this place and they could have mapped out a better area for people. but I will come back to check out what ever weird and different things they might just have available.

The first thing you should know about this particular Trader Joe’s location is that parking is tenuous at best, unless you are shopping near closing or opening times. Luckily, there is ample parking available on the street behind the store, which is handy if you aren’t especially keen on circling the lot 5 times as you hopefully eye people exiting with bags in hand.
The pluses? Well, as soon as you experience them, you’ll forget about the less-​than-​ideal parking situation. Samples throughout the day, a great selection of produce and frozen foods, and the $ 3 wine (this is also the only Trader Joe’s in Colorado to carry liquor). The staff is very friendly as well.

Great store, but the parking is so bad that it’s not worth going. Find another one, even if its further away.

Everyone is friendly and helpful. I know the people who work here really care about the store and they keep it well stocked and are always offering you help. The parking lot can be a little hazardous but just take your time.

I’ve always liked Trader Joe’s ever since I lived in SoCal way back in the 80’s. No offense to one of the other reviewers, but I wouldn’t categorized TJ’s as a ‘gourmet’ grocery store. It’s kind of a funky place to pick up some interesting (and tasty) items, as well as stock up on some things you won’t find cheaper anywhere else. Things I like to buy at TJ’s: capers, hearts of palm, cornichons, olive oil, orange muscat champagne vinegar, basmati and jasmine rice, soups, broths, salad dressings, various frozen Indian meals, naan, frozen vegetables, asparagus risotto, etc., etc.
It’s probably not the kind of place where you’ll do all your shopping, but it’s a good place to stock up on some interesting stuff.
PS — I like that this location has a liquor store but you do have to pay for the booze in that (separate) section of the store.

I haven’t been in one since I was in MA, and was trying to avoid going since they have a lot of fun, not so healthy (fattening) foods. I broke down and went and actually purchased fabulous items for a healthy recipe I was making. The prices are fabulous like I remember as well as the unique items. I pretty much purchased healthy except for the corn chip dippers for the autumn themed salsa.
Parking wasn’t that bad for a Saturday afternoon and the staff was very friendly. The only downside is the amount of people shopping as it is a little crowded. I hope they open just a couple more stores in the area (like near the South East) and on another street other than Colorado Blvd.

Been looking for watermelon juice for months and found it here! It was a little lackluster compared to other watermelon juices I’ve had but for the price I was happy with it although I prefer the taste when the white rind is not juiced with the melon and I also prefer mint to lemon.
Juice dispenser was a neat way to sample the lemonade.
Clean bathrooms have little sample lotions as testers!
Checker was friendly as is the norm at other Trader Joe’s.

I don’t get it. Why do people love this place? Is it the bland pre-​packaged foods? Is it the knockoff cereals? Is it the frozen meals that taste like dorm food?
Oh, it’s the super cheap wine. That makes sense.
But for some reason people seem to like the food. Which I do not.

You’ve been missing out if you haven’t set foot in this gourmet grocery store! This store opened a week before I moved here from Southern California. I’d like to think of it as my welcome to Denver present! This location has a wine shop and does tastings every Friday! This is where you get your 3 buck chuck which TJ is know for.
The staff members are all very friendly, helpful and happy to provide product recommendations! They have unique products at an affordable price that you can’t find anywhere else. Pumpkin croutons, cookie butter, uncured bacon dark chocolate, and don’t get me started with their stellar wine selection. And make sure you ask Tom at the wine shop for recommendations. He’s truly a wine connoisseur!
You’ll love TJ if you’re a foodie like me who’s always looking for something out of the ordinary!

I love Trader Joes!!! Every aisle sucks me in. I go wanting to buy one thing and leave with like 20. Basically I mainly go to get their pre-​made salads and speculous line of cookies products and they keep making more so I keep going back. Let me talk about the negatives first: produce selection is pretty poor. Meat selection is bad and expensive. But that’s it otherwise everything’s wonderful!
Must tries:
–pre made salads! My favorite is the thai style rice noodle salad. I also like their chicken sausages and their salsa and guac dips.
–the cheese section: I die
–orange chicken in the frozen section is amazing
–mango yogurt is very good and their cold pressed watermelon juice omg.
–thai curry sauce that comes in a bottle so good!
–ciabatta bread for sandwiches
–pink lemonade yes
–cookie butter duh
–all the wines are so cheap and they have a huge wine and beer selection it’s amazing
And let me just comment on the service. Everyone I run into at Trader Joes seem to be happy they are working there! At the checkout line, they are always making friendly conversation and I leave happy =) A girl even commented on my perfume. That made me smile =). Just don’t come during rush hour or there’s not parking and you will be mad.

Well for starters… they got the hooch! I can finally get my $ 3 chuck among other wines on the cheap and beer since they have a separate storefront for the alcohol section. Besides that, this is wonderful Trade Joe’s despite it’s ever busy location of 8^th and Colorado. I came here on opening weekend and as expected, it was a madhouse. I came back this past weekend on a Friday night right before they closed and it was everything that a Trader Joe’s experience should be – pleasant, fun filled and quick. And if you don’t like an item at TJ’s, they will let you exchange the item out for something else (unfortunately this doesn’t work with wine!)

Trader Joe’s is just an all-​around solid store packed with *mostly* reasonably priced items and the most incredible frozen foods (perhaps, even, the best).
Must Buys:
— Sea Salt & Turbinado Sugar Chocolate Almonds
— Partially Popped Popcorn
— Trader Joe’s Root Vegetable Chips
Actually, everything is amazing. Just buy whatever catches your eye and be happy. But, maybe not everything because you’ll lose all of your money and be sad, but kind of happy because you have a fridge full of TJ food. That’s certainly a «win» in my books.

I love TJ’s. The variety is great, the service is friendly, and the prices are generally good (clearly if you shop around, you’ll find some that are better). TJ’s has two excellent policies that are well-​known but worth putting out there for TJ novices:
1) You can try just about anything in-​store before buying it. Curious what the new flavor of Joe Joes taste like? (Answer: awesome) Just ask one of the crew members. They’ll open up a box and give you a sample. Really, they will, and they won’t look at you like you have six heads.
2) If you buy something and don’t like it. Bring it back for a full refund. No questions asked. Seriously, that’s a pretty impressive guarantee.
Although the layout of grocery vs. liquor is confined by the bizarre laws of Colorado, the selection of local beer and liquor is pretty darn good. I also like that you can «build your own» six packs with any of the beers, including a large number of local microbrews. On Fridays (late afternoon) they do tastings in the liquor side of the store. Drop in for some free tastes!

It’s been years since I’ve gotten my hands on some 2 buck chuck and was happy to stop in at this Trader Joe’s during a recent trip to Denver. The parking was a nightmare (much like it was in Boston) but once we found a spot we were golden.
The store was large and neat. The samples provided that day were great (watermelon juice and ham panini). Though I was there for wine I couldn’t help but peruse the isles and pick up some much needed staples. I must note that I was a bit horrified by how many paper bags passed my sight (I would like to hope that more people in Denver bring re-​usable bags, particularly T. Joe’s patrons).
We eventually found our way to the T. Joe’s liquor store (connected through the inside) and stocked up on some well prices sparkling wines and an array of red Charle’s Shaw bottles (after all I don’t leave the Boulder bubble all that often). I marveled at the variety of beers offered as well as Colorado made liquors (Woody Creek) which were labeled proudly as local offerings.
The check-​out staff were friendly and had some great scratch and sniff stickers aside from hand sanitizer and hand lotion.
Due to the parking situation I will think twice about stopping in the next time I am int the area.

I love this location (despite the parking situation) as it’s the only location in Colorado that sells its famous discounted wine. Having said that, skip the two buck chuck and speak to the knowledgable sales associates as they’ll offer much better suggestions based on your tastes. You can get some great wines and still not break the bank. The grocery features are the same as the other Trader Joes, so once you’ve run the gauntlet and made your important purchases it’s time to grab your favorite goodies from the grocery and brave Colorado Ave. once again. While I’ll confess that TJs isn’t my go-​to, I always forget Denver has them! Anyway, I’d been promising to send a friend some cookie butter so I made a trip to put together a little care package.
I would imagine parking can be a challenge during busy times, but thankfully on an early Saturday morning — parking was a piece of cake. I found said cookie butter right away and the man that checked me out was really nice!
I did venture over into the wine shop because believe it or not — I’ve always wanted to try their two buck chuck. And surprisingly, it wasn’t bad! If the rumor is to be believed — when Charles Shaw (maker of said wine) and his wife divorced, she was to get all the profits from the winery. So, what did Charles to? Decide to sell it at cost so she wouldn’t get any profits. Evil genius? Maybe. But that means we get to enjoy wine that’s really far better than its $ 2.99 price tag!

Trader Joe’s is our go to grocery store for our main staples — eggs, milk, butter, orange juice, potato chips, cheese. You can’t beat their quality for their price. They have beautiful flower arrangements for dirt cheap, $ 2.99 wine that’s actually not half bad (Perfect for cooking!), and the friendliest staff. Plus, who doesn’t love free samples of something new every time you stop in? Apparently Trader Joe’s inhibits our self restraint, though — We always wind up leaving with more than we came for. Sigh…
While others have complained about the parking situation, I don’t blame this on the store. It is Colorado Boulevard after all, and there was limited space to fit a parking lot. I do, however, blame all of the customers that see the one way signs and blatantly ignore them and then act like those of us going the correct way are in the way… but I digress…

TJ’s I hate you, I love you. When I lived in Alexandria, Va. I shopped almost exclusively @ TJ“s. When I moved to Denver I wrote TJ’s telling them to come here many times, as many others did I’m sure. So I decided that TJ’s was dead to me for making me wait for over a decade to finally show their faces here. But it’s like getting reunited with someone you love, impossible to hold a grudge. You win TJ’s well played, well played. ;)
Tip: the Grand Reserve TJ’s wines are amazing values they drink 2−3x the price you pay fo them.
Cons, parking isn’t so hot but that is what you expect along Colo Blvd.

I think I can finally say the crowds and hype have died down some since opening day.
I’m originally from the East coast where Trader Joe’s are everywhere. I was never a big shopper of the TJ’s, mainly based on not having one convenient to my location. Now that I have a TJ’s within walking distance, I have to say I may be buying into the hype.
I’m loving TJ’s and all the wonderful deals to be had. I’m still a new shopper at TJ’s but so far I’m loving:
*Cut flowers, herbs, orchids, and house plants at very low prices
*Pre-​made salads (I bought one for every day of the week this week)
*Large cheese selection at reasonable prices
*Produce — some of the cheapest prices I’ve seen
*Multiple varieties of trail mix
*Massive frozen food selection that I will have to partake in for the future
*Lots of chocolate treats of all kinds
I might be the one person in the world that has no idea what Cookie Butter is, will someone please explain it to me? I’m sure I’ll eventually try it, it’s just not at the top of my list.
Like so many others, I will agree the parking here is challenging. My words of wisdom are to come early or later in the evening and to stop complaining. If you don’t like the parking lot, don’t come, and go somewhere else.
TJ’s is now a staple in my shopping routine and is sure to enhance my kitchen at home.
