This past summer I drove a 1984 Mercedes 380 SL out from Seattle. I had left it behind when I moved to Colorado a few years back. Upon my return to Denver I ran it out of gas. The following day, after fueling it, it died on me. I found a local shop near my office and and when I told them the make and model they recommended Bill at The Import Mechanics, «Denver’s Mercedes guru.»
The guys at TIM test drove the car for a few weeks but couldn’t find anything wrong with it. They easily could have sold me on heaps of parts or services that weren’t needed, but they didn’t. Additionally, my mechanic in Seattle recommended replacing a bunch of parts when I got back to Colorado as he didn’t have time before my road trip. However, TIM disagreed, saving me thousands of dollars. The car has run flawlessly ever since.
They are super nice guys– friendly and honest. Now they have a customer for life because when something does go wrong, as it inevitably will on a 32 year old car, I know whom to call. Bonus: the shop is walking distance to the 16th Street Mall Shuttle making it very convenient if you live or work downtown.

I am so thrilled to have found The Import Mechanics. It is so difficult in this day in age to find a reputable fair car repair facility. There have been many times where there was an easier fix that they have suggested instead of a more expensive recommendation that surely would have been given by the dealership. I drive foreign cars and I will never go anywhere else. The mechanics truly know what they are doing and that is rare as these cars are so difficult to work on and have so many nuances. In addition the customer service is outstanding. They always remember me and are always trying to bend over backwards to help. Thanks so much to you all!!!

Truly cannot say enough good things about these guys & the business that they run. Upfront and transparent from the start, wish I had come here first instead of going to the dealer (BMW is not what it used to be, Denver), who wanted to completely replace something that didn’t even need it; so glad I decided to get a second opinion. My very first time in here, they stayed an hour late after closing on a Friday night to allow me time to fight traffic & make it in so that I could get a loaner from them for the entire weekend. When Monday rolled around, I had my car back by 4pm at literally *half* the cost of what the dealer quoted, plus I added in new spark plugs. Unbelievable customer service, they have themselves a new repeat customer. Do not hesitate to go to these guys, they’re what I imagine mechanics were like in the 50’s, all about good business & the satisfaction of their customers.

Fair prices and GREAT service. I found my first mechanic on Unilocal and was ridiculously overpriced for an oil change and was quoted a big pile of money for my next servicing. Not a fan. Then I found the Import Mechanics and decided to give them a try. I have found my mechanic home! They quoted me half the price of the other guy for an oil change and their average maintenance schedules are posted online so that you know what to expect, based on your mileage. I had a whine and the guys not only found the cause, but, they topped off all the fluids free of charge. They remember me by name, they know my car, the lobby is clean, even the service floor is clean!
If you’re looking for a mechanic that is fair enough to post recommended servicing schedules online, gives a little off every now and then (for proudly sporting their logo), donates to charity, and does a thorough efficient job of fixing your European car, this is the spot!!! (and if you’re a gear head, the décor is fantastic!)

I cannot say enough good things about Import Mechanics. Being a single female who knows nothing about cars, the likelihood of being taken advantage of when it comes to car service is pretty scary. Import Mechanics, and specifically Michael, put those fears to rest. They don’t try and pressure you into extensive services or upsell you with fear tactics. They’ll tell you honestly what’s crucial for your car and what you can get away without, or handle at a later point in time.
Oh, and their actual mechanical services are excellent as well! I’ve had zero issues with their services and my car continues to run great. Service is always quick, in and out. If you’re not too far, they’ll also drop you off and pick you up!
The staff is incredibly friendly and personable. Michael remembered me when I called after not needing service for probably almost a year! And their office and waiting area is clean and nicely decorated, which I appreciate.
They’ve had my loyal service for a couple of years and will have it as long as I live in Denver. If you need a mechanic, call Michael at Import Mechanics!

Back again for some major work — clutch replacement and a breather hose. Feels like brand new! Turn around was quick, even quicker than clutch replacements I’ve had done on my previous jeeps!
Easy to work with, and convenient with my schedule. I drive OUT OF MY WAY (and no by a little either…) to visit these guys. Hands down, most highly recommended mechanics I’ve ever visited!

Overpriced by the 100s, and they completely fabricated the truth about what was «wrong» with my Audi. I took my car to 3 other shops and they ALL ensured me that nothing was wrong with my car. Shame on them.

These guys really know about BMWs. Their prices are reasonable and they do a good job. Might not seem like high praise at first but with the bad experiences I’ve had in the past, it is nice to find a shop that fixes the problem, explains the work well, and hits their estimates.
I’ve been very pleased the past two times and will come back in the future.

I highly recommend The Import Mechanics. As an owner of an S4 who is coming on 12 years old (read menopause years for an audi), I’ve had my share of needed fixes and replacements. I am lucky enough to have a mechanic as a father, so I’ve managed to take care of a lot things myself and consider myself fairly knowledgable when it comes to my car. But, as Dad has gotten older and my motivation to wrench on my car has gone to the way side, I needed to find a shop I could trust to do the job right.
In steps The Import Mechanics.
I’ve had my car into the shop on a few separate occasions and each time I’ve come away more then satisfied with the work completed. They’ve done everything from oil changes, replacing my control arms, and most recently my alternator. Each time I’ve come away satisfied that my car was fixed appropriately and that I was treated with honesty.
In short, if you’re on the fence about trying out a new shop like I was, don’t be. This is a shop you can trust to do the job right and you’ll probably walk away with a little more dough in your pocket than you otherwise would. Go talk to Michael today.

The interior is a petrolhead’s dream. There are vintage pumps, lots of automotive art, and yummy cars dotting the garage. I stopped here to beg, plead, and give my best attempt at puppy eyes to whoever I could find; that ended up being Michael! He was gracious enough to let me park here while I ran a quick errand. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
4-​stars seems like a solid choice seeing as they have an average of 5, all I did was park here, and a 4 gives me the option to move up to a 5 once I actually do something more car-​related here than talk about cars — which I have full intentions of doing. I’ll update then.

I had a great experience with The Import Mechanics fixing up my VW. Learned about them from, of all things, an ad left on my car windshield while I was parked for work. Though normally such things annoy the heck out of me, this flyer was incredibly savvy – the ad was directed at my car brand, it said that they were within walking distance of my office, and it keyed in on my biases by saying that their mechanic was a graduate of MIT. Being a fan of the Cartalk guys and knowing that they too are MIT educated, this come-​on hit the bullseye. (I had to laugh when I looked at the mechanic’s degree from MIT up on the wall and it said that he had gotten it in Oceanography.)
And they didn’t disappoint. Though I had estimates in hand from my dealer that the work required on my car would cost over $ 4500, the Import Mechanics convinced me that I could sensibly fix the problems for much less – only around ¼th of the cost. I wouldn’t have taken their advice had I not had some confidence that the mechanics were trustworthy and straightforward with me. A day later I had my car back and it was running great.
Other plusses are their convenient Golden Triangle location behind the Denver courthouse (making it walkable from most Downtown locations), their comfortable waiting room, and their reasonable prices. After this nice experience, I just might have a new regular mechanic.
