Super 8 Denver Stapleton

This is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. First of all the type of people who stay here will creep you out. They are sketchy and they make eye contact with you the whole time you pass each other in the hall. The first room didn’t have a working heater, so we moved rooms. The water was freezing this morning. No hot water at all! We asked for an extra pillow and were denied. The outlets don’t work, and the service here is rude as hell. The fire alarm had a low battery so we took it to the front desk. They just took it and put it up on a shelf instead of giving us a new battery. Hope there’s not a fire while we’re here!
We travel a lot and we are not high maintenance people. Hell, that’s why we picked motel 8, but this is ridiculous. This place needs a big reform if it plans on having any business. We’ll be looking for a new hotel for the rest of our stay in Denver.

After finding this was the most affordable deal in the Denver area my brother and I booked a room with a King bed. The staff was polite and there were many cleaning staff present. The room was a good size, clean, and had a comfortable bed. It’s not in the best part of town and there was some construction going on in the front but thankfully we were able to get a room in the back after requesting so with the front desk. The free breakfast was pretty good, cereal with cold milk, waffle machine and some sweet breads. Not a bad place to stay for a night or two.

Absolutely disgusting… working on refund now! And I am definitely not high maintenance! I understand you get what you pay for but I’ve paid $ 20 – 30 to stay at a hotel in shady places to save $$$ and even those were at least clean enough to sleep for the night!

Absolutely horrible stay for the Packers-​Broncos game (I stayed the weekend). First of all, this motel is simply in a bad location. It is adjacent to a very narrow street, and there was limited parking as a new Chick Fil A was being built next to it. Glass covered the parking lot. You have Quebec St., which is split into 2 separate one-​way streets sharing the same name, so you have no choice but to either turn right or go straight into the strip mall which was always packed with traffic. Anyway, my door key deactivated itself 3 times, and one of the times the on-​site manager was out and I had to wait 20 min to go back into my room. I was in my underwear as I ran out to my car to get something. There was no hot water, and the TV is a cheapo 1990s CRT version. Since the sports bars were packed, I had to watch my Packers lose on this TV. The bed was very uncomfortable and I slept like crap both on Fri night and of course Sun night after the game. The hallways make the hallway scene from the movie The Shining look like the Trump Tower. The wi-​fi kept cutting out and switching to Xfinity. Xfinity kept asking me for an account number but of course I don’t have one so I had to burn some of my data to access the internet on my phone. The floor next to the soda machine was soft and I tripped on it as it sank. People were openly smoking pot outside and a lot of thugs were there talking loudly about «ganking» someone. I checked out immediately after the game, as I decided it was better for me to sleep in my van at a rest stop rather than not being able to sleep at all.

Do NOT stay here! Run while you still can! Had to bleach-​wipe every surface before I would touch ANYTHING in the room, and I wouldnt even take my shoes off for fear of touching the herpes-​infested carpet. They may as well rent by the hour here– by the looks of the disgusting men (pimps) and sad, scared and obviously underage girls one can only imagine how the manager lets this fly. (He must be getting a percentage of their ‘business’ as hush money.) Id happily pay $ 200+ a night down the street if I never had to set foot in this pit again!!! Im ready to ugly-​cry its so overwhelmingly disgusting…

NO NO NO! Just run from this place and never come back.
So I’m from Los Angeles and I’ve seen and experienced my fair share of shady people but this place takes the cake. The room was horrible! There are cigarette burns on the comforters, white stains on the comforters, bed bugs, flies everywhere and it’s just bad. Also, the amount of shady people staying in that hotel was ridiculous. It’s one of those hotels where people live in, which is cool, but not for me. I’ve seen a lot of those in LA and I don’t need them when I travel. We stayed there maybe 3 hours and decided to just leave and go down the street to a much nicer and less «I might get attacked» hotel. Always spend more on a quality hotel. It’s for your safety and health.

THERE ARE BED BUGS AT THIS HOTEL!
We were planning to stay for 3 nights but checked out after the first night! One of our people got bitten by bed bugs and we informed the front desk in the morning. They said they will check and when we came back in the afternoon, they informed us that they didn’t find any bed bugs in our rooms, so they were not going to give us a refund!
What LIES! We informed them that we had taken pictures of the eggs that we found AND of the bites from the said bugs.
After hearing this, they got scared and gave a full refund reluctantly.

**Breakfast was horrible too. Waffles were still uncooked on the inside after 3 minutes in the waffle maker.

Talk about a fleabag hotel. The smell of pot in the hallways, cigarette holes and stains on the bedspreads, dirty chairs, nonsmoking rooms smell like an ashtray. Most disgusting hotel I’ve ever walked into!

Could this be a worse hotel. Thanks to my husband I learned that I will be responsible for all family room stays. The rooms that were designated for non-​smoking had all the reefer smokers. Our reservation was for a non-​smoking room but was placed in a smoking room. Couldn’t ask for a new room as place was completely booked. The room had that nasty repugnant scent of old stale smoke. I wonder if the staff thinks one would not notice the difference of a smoking vs non smoking room. I am breathing in horrible smoke. I would recommend anyone to run fast from this place.

My husband and I travel a lot and stay in MANY $ 30/​night hotels. We spend so little time in the hotel that all we are usually looking for is a clean place to sleep. In the $ 30– $ 60 hotel range, we have usually been able to find great accommodations.
When we got to this hotel, which we had pre-​booked on Expedia, we found no shortage of unsavory characters. Obvious drug dealers standing outside of our building, lots of permanent residents, thin walls with screaming children and loud TVs on the other side and a poorly lit parking lot all warned us away when we checked in. I did not feel safe AT ALL. We decided to forfeit our money and leave. The manager was very nice and understanding. Luckily, when we contacted Expedia, they refunded us our money right away.

HORRIBLE PLACE! DONT STAY IF POSSIBLE! Its only cheap nothing else. and close to eating places.
Rooms smell so bad and even for 70 $ the place should be nice but it is horrible! I have gone to super 8’s before and they were really good. This place is horrible in terms of everything. Just don’t stay! Everything about this place is horrible. Nothing was clean in the room upon arrival and it was a mistake to stay. I could have used my points somewhere else. Please clean the rooms atleast before giving them out.

This place is a disgrace the owner is ignorant and rude and treats his employees like crap. He told told one of the employees that she was STUPID!!! The area in the lobby was filthy and looked as if it hadn’t been swept, my room looked as if someone spit on the wall a while back and it ran down it. The bed mattress was collapsing in the center. And there superstar breakfast was a joke. Cereal everywhere on the counter. Coffee wasn’t refilled and the pastries were old and hard. Is this where you want to stay a night at? I did and it SUCKED Ass. DON’T STAY AT THIS PLACE!!!

Let me start by saying my boyfriend and I are usually traveling for Phish shows and therefore don’t have crazy high expectations as we spend so little time in the hotel. All we really expect is clean and safe. This has been the first time I have really been unsatisfied with our cheap accommodations.
At first glance the room was big and appeared to be clean so we figured things were fine. Well, when we got home my boyfriend got these weird red bumps all over his arm and other areas of his body. We later determined it was actually bed bugs. I honestly never took «bed bug» comments seriously in reviews cause they are usually along with rants and general scathing (i.e. BED BUGS!!!) that make me question the validity of the actually review… anyways, I now see this crap actually happens. Also, there was a bunch of little kids (I think families were actually living in this hotel) running around and I’m pretty sure they were removing all the «do not disturb» signs because every night we were sure to put it in our door and every morning housekeeping woke us up.
Overall, the hotel itself was pretty sketch. Last year we stayed at the Best Western just next door and that was pretty cool (awesome pool party). We ended up walking over there to hangout at that pool again since things were so sketchy at the super 8. I couldn’t help but check my car to ensure I still had all windows intact each time we returned to the hotel.
Do not stay here (definitely do not stay here if you are a family with kids!). We made the mistake of trying to save $ 30 bucks a night but should have just stayed at the Best Western. Did we survive, yes, do we have fond memories of our hotel stay, no.

Motel 8 Stapleton is an urban motel. Many of the previous reviewers clearly live a predominantly sterile existence.
Checking in was fine. My room was cleanish but not sterile. It’s easy enough to wipe stuff down. The prices are low for being so close to the city. If you go into a situation with reasonable expectations, in most cases, one will have them met.
The décor is late 90’s, there is a giant image of a Rocky Mountain over the bed. This is a, nice (?), touch. Standard micro, working fridge, 30″ TV with basic cable, plenty of outlets. It is clearly 420-​friendly, assumably within the confines of a smoking room. In other Colorado Super 8s, this reviewer had been proffered a contract stating that establishment’s lack of tolerance for any marijuana consumption on the premises. There was no mention of marijuana here, the second floor did have a detectable odour of burning cannabis.
SAFETY: Were I to rate Super 8 Stapleton with regards to safety I would give a ½ star. The parking lot is not well lit. None of the back/​side doors lock at night. There was a detectable odour of cannabis in the region of the smoking rooms. If I were paranoid, easily offend-​able, or had children I may consider another hotel. The complex resides on the very cusp of gentrified Denver. Here, there is ample room for digression and projection into this aspect of the modern American experience. Stapleton will one day soon be another portion of the metro-​Denver complex. When it is, it will be plush and prolly kinda awful. McMansions, wasteful golf-​courses for white people, suburbia. I doubt that this place will exist in 10 years… so I did, I digressed),
The breakfast was the same as other Super 8’s. The staff is busy, but helpful. If you park in the lot just outside the office and remain confident, this is a totally reasonable spot to stay. Do make a reservation. Tell someone where you’re at too. You know, just to be safe.

Maybe I had my expectations set a little high because the last Super 8 I stayed in was really nice, but I really don’t see how this place is still in business. Our non smoking room reeked of cigarettes and we even found a few shoved in our heater. There were hairs all over the shower… dark, curly hairs and I could tell from the hard water build up that it hadn’t been cleaned in a while. I tried putting some things in the dresser and the front piece of wood fell onto my feet, it wasn’t even attached. Not to mention the free breakfast is a joke…
The staff was friendly at night when we checked in, but in the morning when I let the desk attendant know how crusty our room was he responded with «oh I’m sorry, it must’ve been a bedroom you know people live here sometimes and maybe they smoked in the room.» I just politely mentioned that it could use a good cleaning before another guest gets stuck with it, and left so I can go pay for another hotel where I can actually take a clean shower… wish I could leave 0 stars.

Look away now. Scary. Bullet holes in the windows. Yellow stained everything. Mystery mess on the tv. Cops arresting «customers» and outside doors don’t lock. This place is a castle for very interesting characters. I wish I was making this up, and I wish we could of canceled our reservation. As soon as you walk down the hall way you too will question everything about your judgmental skills. Given, I’ve stayed at some «sketchy» places before, but this super 8 actually made me make sure my door actually locked. I’m surprised super 8 still has their name on such a terrible establishment.

We decided to stay here bc it was adorable and in close distance to our relatives. Bad idea. Yeah it’s cheap but still not cheap enough. We got into the room and found no remote to the tv. Later we used the microwave, guess it was broken because it started popping and burning up. Lots of strange traffic going in and out of the rooms at all hours. You’re bound to not get a good nights rest. Oh yeah, and that complimentary breakfast, go enjoy that with this man standing over you who works at the front counter normally (I mean this literally), he stands in the kitchen area while people eat to make sure you don’t take anything back to your room. Not even my half eaten waffle. Weird. The room was NOT decent, it was dirty. It looked like it had never seen a vacuum. The only plus was the sweet lady who checked us in.

The worst hotel we have ever stayed at!!! First night, got in around 4pm room wasn’t ready, we thought no big deal we could go eat ! It spiraled from there. Hotel was dirty, carpets in hallway and stairway gross! Walls gross. A crackhead hanging out at the computer. Tried to take shower in the morning, no hot water. They move us to another room and the water went from hot to cold, no fun. We pre paid for 4 nights, and it was just miserable. Every day we had to go have our keys reset, never got coffee restocked. OHHHH and the breakfast, SHIT!!! Can hardly believe this was a super 8. We were not expecting a 5 star but this place needs shut down!!! Disgusting!!!

I would give 0 stars if possible. Cigarette burns on our comforter, stains everywhere. I keep my toothbrush in a container and somehow it had a clump of hair and a fuzzball in it when I took it out at night to use it. I don’t want to say that the maids used it to clean the sink, but I threw it away just in case. The walls and ceiling are falling apart. The bed, too. The entire building smells like smoke and they go overboard with air freshener in the non-​smoking rooms to cover it up. Wouldn’t it make sense to put smoking and non-​smoking on different sides of the building? Last tip, don’t take a shower-​you only get to choose from freezing cold or boiling hot. I always stay in 2 – 3 star hotels and have no problem. But this place should be condemned.

— The heater is really dirty and filled the room with the smell of mold for several hours after turning it on.
— The refrigerator doesn’t work. The hair dryer is broken.
— I concur with a previous reviewer who said the bathroom is extremely dark. Luckily, I wasn’t in there for long since the water went cold 3 minutes into my shower! (My goodness. It took 10 minutes of running it to get warm in the first place.)
— Small stain on the sheets, large hole in the blanket.
— Best price in the area… NOT worth the $ 20 we saved by not going with one of the many options, same distance from the airport, just $ 20 more.
— For the record, other Super 8 Motels are not like this, I seriously have not had a worse hotel experience, including travelling to other countries, and I usually go for the cheap.
