Salvagetti Bicycle Workshop

Went into Salvagetti to get a new tube on a bike that was gifted to me. Loved the vibe of the shop. I came in near closing time, was warmly greeted at the door and told they could still help me. I went to see Adam in service and he did an awesome job… with a smile! I am a «how does it work?» kinda girl (and a bicycling novice) and he graciously explained everything he was doing and answered all my questions.
Awesome experience. Fair prices. Nice people. I highly recommend!

Guys are awesome. I tuned up a couple of bikes at the start of the season. One of them was in «too good of shape» to take my money. So they did some minor tweaks and insisted that it wasn’t enough to pay for. Super cool and insightful dudes behind the service counter. If you’re new to cycling these guys are great to talk to — with advice about tire pressures, where to cycle, what to take on longer rides … etc. got bike needs? I’m sure these guys will have your back.

My first purchase at Salvagetti was a Strider and a helmet for my niece’s third birthday (see photo). I was impressed by the store’s choice, not only of product lines, but of specific products within those lines, saving me a lot of dain bramage. The helmet was from the Belgian company that invented them, and was the one model that was highly adjustable for the growing noggin.
I’ve read a few comments here about a snotty attitude, which I have never experienced; I would assume if there were an uppity bike racer attitude available, it would be trotted out for the benefit of a guy in his sixties buying a pink bike without pedals. It wasn’t.
Today I attended a workshop there entitled «Better, Faster, Funner (on dirt),» given by Scott, the owner. He was hilarious, engaging, straight-​forward, and highly informative. He even spent quite a bit of time actually setting up the suspensions on each of our bikes. He suggested holding off on purchasing any of the upgrades he recommended to each of us until we had had a chance to ride a bit with the bikes adjusted – not exactly pushy, I’d say. I had a pair of SPD pedals with me that I hadn’t had time to install this morning, and Scott offered to have one of the wrenches install them for me – no charge.
I wanted to buy something, anything, before leaving, and was in the market for a pair of gloves. True to form, there was a modest selection, including a pair in my size that was exactly what I need, from a company I respect. I don’t think I would have benefited from plowing through rack after rack of miscellaneous alternatives.
I am quite favorably disposed toward Salvagetti. There is sense of humor, some real care and intelligence that characterizes the place. Another reviewer used the word «curate» to refer to the way they stock products, which I would affirm. Sure, it is probably possible to beat them up on price via the World Wide Want, or some big box retailers, but to have had the products carefully selected, knowledgably recommended, and stood behind, is well worth paying for. These are people who love bikes, biking, and bikies. I have found my home in Denver for all things velocepidic.

First off, about me — I’m clueless about bikes. I’ve rode around town on a B-​Cycle before, but the last time I owned my own bike, it had training wheels on it.
I came in looking for a commuter bike in a certain price range. I’m naturally wary of being «upsold» when I’m not knowledgable about the product I’m buying, so I planned on having to turn down a lot of pitches to stay within my plan. My experience couldn’t have been more different — I was greeted immidiately by Scott, who was enthusastic & very respectful of my budget. He presented me with a couple of different options and layed out the pros/​cons of each… no bike jargon!
I got the chance to test-​ride my bike before I purchased it, and I couldn’t be happier with it. I’m sure I’ll be going back to these guys for a long time for maintenance and advice. Highly recommend!

Best bike buying experience ever! We went in yesterday after an uncomfortable ride around town on our old mountain bikes. My husband wanted to get a commuter bike and I just wanted a tool around the neighborhood bike. We knew close to nothing about what we wanted or needed and Hannah helped and educated with NO pressure. We didn’t ride, we had out dog with and had just popped in on a whim, but our conversation with Hannah had us excited about riding on bikes that were more suited for us. Today we returned and Killian helped us with a couple options to ride around… and we found our new amazing bikes! Not nearly as expensive as we were anticipating and we spent the rest of the day riding in comfort, AND style. Loved the service and experience! Thanks!

These are genuine people, not your typical bike snobs. I myself enjoy cycling for recreation and exercise, but more so use my road bike as a commuter. The team at Salvaghetti has solved every problem I’ve ever had on that regard. They recently fit me with a luggage rack that has saved my neck from the severe pain of carrying my laptop everywhere. This is the place that speaks directly to you about what you should look for in a bike. It’s a great shop for the Denverite who loves cycling in the city…

I’m pretty disappointed in this bike shop for two reasons. First reason: my husband took his bike in and spent $ 200 on a complete tune up, and when he got his bike back it make this clicking noise that it had not previously made. Nothing major but kind of annoying when you spend that type of money.
Secondly, I brought my bike in for a tune up as well. I got a call after a few hours and they said that my frame was broken and that they couldn’t legally work on it anymore. I had no idea about the break and I completely understand that they were just looking out for their safety and my own. However, when I went to pick up my bike, they gave it back to me stripped. So not only did they not tune my bike up, but they gave it back to me unrepairable. My brake cables were gone, my handle bar tape was stripped. The bike was returned to me in worse condition then when I left it. I didn’t think too much of it at the time, but then I realized not only would I need to get the frame welded but I would have to replace all of the accessories as well. I feel like they took advantage of me. Definitely won’t go back in there again.

An average experience. Nothing bad, but plenty of room to improve.
I left my bike for a scheduled service but never received a call that the bike was ready. Not a big deal but at the same time don’t bother telling me that you will call when the service is complete and then not call.
The repair notes they left more me were vague and difficult to understand and the salesperson ringing me up seemed equally confused.
Again, nothing outstandingly bad but also nothing exceptional.

These guys fixed the bb on my older trek 330. Its so smooth now. I use my bike to commute starting at 3 am and go about 10 miles so reliability is a must for me. I feel very confident having these guys work on my bike and the prices are very reasonable. I will definitely go to them in the future.

We have been to Salvagetti many times this summer. Every single time I walk out happy. They never shame me for being a casual cyclist or for having a very average bicycle. They also don’t let us leave before the bike is in perfect working order. I have always felt the prices, especially for labor, are entirely reasonable. As far as merchandise goes, and everything is clearly priced and if excellent quality. All of the employees are knowledgeable and offer help. My favorite bike shop!

Customer service was weak. Way more bike shop attitude than other places. Bought over $ 600 in touring gear and walked out feeling nickel and dimed.
Overall, good gear, but nothing unique. I’d rather take my money elsewhere and benefit employees whose customer service deserves repeat customers.

Great shop with knowledgeable staff. My brother and I rode our bikes here the other day, and of course I managed to get a flat on the way… just my luck. I wasn’t looking forward to patching it myself, but when we asked, a tube replacement with labor was only $ 15. Sweet. It was a weekday afternoon, so there weren’t many people there, and they had my bike ready in less than 10 minutes. Really great service.
While we were there, the shop attendant made sure he answered all our questions, and didn’t make us feel dumb when we asked about which bikes would be good for the Denver snow. Being from an area that has no real weather, I had no idea what I would need, but I walked away feeling more confident in selecting a new bike. I’ll definitely be back once I save up for a new bike, and I know where to pick up all my accessories and repair needs!

I showed up 15 minutes before they were closing with a flat tire. The super friendly assistant manager had me all set up with a new tire before close! As I was waiting, we talked about commuter bikes. I liked his genuine interest in what type of riding I did, how comfortable I felt riding, etc. etc. He was very informative and I liked the commuter bikes he showed me. Their whole motto is getting people to ride bikes. They build their bikes, so I will definitely go back when I’m ready to get a new bike.

Everyone in staff is extremely knowledgeable and approachable. I have never bought a bike before and they listened to what I wanted and gave me straight options. They have a lot of inventory and everything you need.

Adam was super sweet and helpful in getting my bikes back in check. He taught me how to lube up the chains and gears, and didn’t charge me a penny for the check up. Thanks guys!

Look Salvagetti sounds like a euro-​cool bicycle shop, however I found it to be just another boy racer hangout for Tour De France want a be club racers. If the bike isn’t made in a oriental sweat shop these guys have no clue.
The impression I got was they only want to sell new bikes, they’re not interested in vintage customers, and couldn’t tell a Rene Herse from a Schwinn. Good luck boys, just like the 70’s this bike boom will end too!

As soon as I walked into this place I had someones attention (in the good, taken care of kind of way). When I explained my price range, the manager (?) told me that unfortunately they didn’t have any stock in that price range, and my size (I’m really small). He suggested I check out some various used bike stores in the area.
BUT what he did next won me over. He actually took the time to explain what kind of bike to look for, and handed me a cheat sheet on frame sizes and parts. He also went over what kind of bikes to avoid, including brands.
He said they offer a service where you and a bike dealer can meet at Salvagetti (a neutral space) so you don’t get ripped off by paying $ 500 for a $ 30 used bike.
If I need tune ups or parts in the future this is where I am going to go.

Salvagettis? How do you spell it? :)

This is a friendly shop with a great staff.
I bought a fat tire bike, and Phillip set it up to fit me.
I am 6’4″ and 235 lbs.
New handlebars, grips, adjustments, etc.
Then I went home and broke the chain on the second ride.
After hauling it back there,
Levi met me and actually smiled.
He smiled and had a welcoming attitude at an unhappy customer coming in with a broken bike. It was obvious it was broken. That was nice.
I left the bike, and came back in 3 hours, due to my own schedule.
New chain, tested, checked and ready to go.
They also installed two new grips I selected and paid for, installing them for free.
Could I be happier with this shop?
Free bikes would be nice.

It is like being a kid again.

Bike shops are a dime a dozen around Denver, you can throw a rock from where you’re standing right now and come close to hitting one. Needless yo say there are plenty of options to purchase or get your bike serviced in the Metro area. So why would I bring my bike here? Well one reason is location, they are close to my place … but that doesn’t help you eh? The main reason though is the staff is cool and knowledge. I’m not bike ignorant by any means but I appreciate it when the staff doesn’t talk down to me. I don’t get the condescending tone at all at this place … These guys are into bikes and want to help you.
I’ve dropped in here a dozen times with service issues for my bike and they have always been top notch. Very prompt service on-​top of a job well done, win/​win!
This is my go-​to place for my bike needs!
