Rollout Cafe by Alchemy Bicycles

I work in Boulder and I’ve been eyeing a bike at Dean. I heard good things about Alchemy and I was happy to learn they’re open on weekends. I stopped by today and was about to tell the salesperson what I was looking for when another customer came in and asked for a coffee. The sales guy just walked away without saying anything to make the coffee. The other customer explained that he managed a bike shop and was looking for an industry deal. They were about to head into the back to look at bikes when I had to interrupt and remind him that I was still there. I was given a quick 2 minute explanation of what they do and told to come back M-​F 9 – 5. I left frustrated; not only because I work in Boulder and could lot make it there on a weekday, but also because I was just brushed off and made to feel as if I didn’t matter. Alchemy– please learn to treat everybody who stops by with respect. Your customer service is crap.

Based on reviews where someone mentioned they were very helpful and fixed their flat tire, I thought I’d bring my bike here. I arrive and a guy tells me that they don’t really do tire changes, they do more complex things like customized a bike and sent me off to go somewhere else. I wasted time getting here for nothing.

Was riding the cherry creek bike trial and they had signs out on the trail welcoming people in. Thought we would stop and have a coffee or something. They were very rude to us because we had kids and because we weren’t interested in their car priced bikes that don’t fit my riding style anyway.
Won’t be back.

Extremely helpful staff — fixed my beater bike immediately after I walked in. Very nice to have a high end shop that doesn’t make you feel silly for having a low end bike. Great coffee too.

Stopped in for a cup of coffee during a ride, there were a few people in the back room who appeared to work there (also appeared to see me walk in) finally after about 3 or 4 minutes waiting at the counter someone came out and started working on a bike. Once he saw me he asked if I needed something as if I was just standing there for no reason. Finally got a cup of coffee went to add cream and sugar and there was no milk/​cream on the condiment stand, asked for some and they provided. Mentioned to the mechanic I was having an issue and needed a quick adjustment on the front dérailleur but he said he didn’t have time. Not sure what the other people in the back room were doing, but seemed odd no one could assist or tell me to wait a few minutes. Not a very friendly vibe at this place.

I stopped by with my girlfriend riding the Cherry Creek Trail. The reason for stopping in was, my tubes were a little low and I needed some air. I asked one of the techs if I could borrow a pump. He said sure and asked if I wanted him to fill up my tires, I said sure. Now keep in mind, I thought this was a bicycle shop, I did not know they made custom frames, will get to that point in a second. While filling up my tubes, he said «I don’t want to be rude or anything, but you should really know how to fill up your tires. I stated I know how to and we filled them up before hitting the trail». It just so happens I forgot to check the pressure, which should have been at 60 psi. The tech automatically assumed since he was filling up the tires, that I didn’t know how to do it. All I needed was some help, is that too much to ask? I would have been more than happy to just borrow the pump and fill them up myself, but being a polite person that I am, I didn’t want to take his bicycle pump out of the store. I figured it was a one stop bicycle shop, like Bicycle Village, who do this sort of thing every day. This shop is located on a very busy bicycle trail, The Cherry Creek Trail, I’m sure people come in all the time asking for the same thing. Alchemy, kindness goes a long way, if the tech was polite I would have wrote a stunning review on Unilocal,but since you failed to be kind I’m giving you one star.

I got a flat tire on the trail almost right across the street from Alchemy. I went in and Ted was great. He got the tires fixed, found the source of my recent frequent blow outs & aimed the problem quickly. He was super friendly. It’s a great little bike repair shop. While you wait you can watxh thw team assemble the brandnew bikes being manufactured. They have an awesome little coffee shop with some nice outdoor seating. I do no live in Denver, but i would go back there anytime. I highly recommend them.

I took my custom frame in for some repairs that needed a skilled hand with a torch and these guys did a great job. Real attention to detail. If I didn’t have a custom frame already I’d probably have these guys make my bike. Trust me, once you have a made to measure bike you’ll never even think of riding a factory made bike.
