Their behavioral health services are antiquated they cater to mild cases do they can herd people through like cattle they are a money making machine completely in concerned with holistic health or long term assistance
victims of rape do not receive assistance or programs
Get your family member in a caring facility not this corporate machine

I wish I could give this a zero star rating because they do not rate having A star. took my daughter to the ER and the way the ER Doctor thought that she was okay was because my daughter laughed. I wasn’t aware that hearing a girl laugh was a way of determining whether a person is sick or not.
They have zero compassion and not just in the ER. There was only two nurses that were good. one left my daughter in dirty hospital gown. the room they put her in had not been cleaned from the last person as noted by the cleaning manager. everything in the room was not functioning: the telephone, the calling device, the television… frustrating and disgusting.
I ended up requesting my daughter to be discharged after three days of angry nurses who would not share any information, a doctor who showed up twice in three days. Horrible. My family will never shadow the place again.
Go to CU Med Center… light years different

I’m from out of town and I checked into the ER when I was experiencing stomach pain. While my nurse was very nice, the doctor was the rudest I’ve had in my life. No bedside manner to speak of. My ailment turned out to be nothing serious and I would have been in and out in 2 hours… except the nurse had to track down the doctor several times to come and get her to speak to me about my lab results (which took another 2 hours). So after a pretty lame experience… I get a $ 10,000 medical bill. My CT scan alone was $ 7,000.
Tried to work with their billing department to dispute the fact that my medical bill was 10x the national average for the procedure. After 2 years of back and forth and them not budging an inch I’m still in debt with them.
This is the worst hospital experience I’ve ever had in my life and has made me a life long supporter of a single payer care system.
Avoid this hospital or it will cost you… literally.

I LEFT HERE WORSE OFF THAN WHEN I GOT HERE. Add on top of that, the added stress of dealing with asinine doctors, and you’ve got a stomach problem that is now magnified to ten times what it was This is literally the worst hospital I have ever been to. After 4 days of being in hospital, not being allowed to eat anything but liquids, never given enough pain medication to reach a comfortable state, and given care that I could have done myself at home, they did a two minute procedure and prescribed a cream. Again, something I can do at home. AND they expect me to stay here so they can apply the cream. Yeah, I don’t think so. So, Porter Adventist and your lovely (esarcasm) doctors that made my treatment impossible, thanks so much for absolutely nothing. The nurses there are amazing, but that’s the only nice thing I can say.

They dont answer faces for prescriptions, they let calls from pharmacies constantly go to voicemail and dont respond. It took me 5 days to get my refill. This place is the worst

A friend was admitted at Porter the other day. Went to visit Sunday afternoon. This hospital is spotless and the care my friend is receiving is exceptional. He is in ICU. Was very impressed with the staff there. Everyone is very caring and helpful. Know my friend is in good hands. On this particular Sunday this hospital had a very peaceful healing vibe. Am sure my friend will recover well soon. Thank you Porter Hospital and all of the wonderful staff.

The staff in the emergency rooms caring, kind and understanding. Wait times are not as terrible as some other rooms you could visit (Swedish!)
Porter is the only hospital emergency room I will visit and I refer all of my friends there also. Only downfall is porter does not offer pediatrics.

Someone dear to our family has been coming here in Porter Adventist Hospital in the One South area. The One South nurses ARE profiling our friends & I when we call to speak to the patient.
They first would say ‘that persons’ not available & /​or Not in their database. The One South nurses say,‘We don’t know who YOUR talking about,‘several times to our friends & I so much it makes us all sick! The One South nurses keep saying in the conversation, ‘We need a patient consent.’ The One South nurses also asked me when was the last time I spoke to the patient. WHAT ARE THEY DOING.
Then I call back one day & make sure I dialed the right number & all of the sudden they don’t need the spelling of the patients name, they say so rude they need MY first & Last name! Then while fighting to get my info, they tell me they Know who I’m looking for & finally say they now need a patient, ‘written’ consent in order for me to talk to the patient I called to speak to.
There was only literally a couple of times I called the same number & asked for the same patient & they just transferred me to the person & I got to the patient & spoke to her. The patient said there is no reason why You should not get to me calling this number & just asking for me. The second time it rang & rang then the call dropped.
That sounds like discrimination, profiling, being rude & stupidity beyond measure. Something is going on, people going to work & then doing this to strangers is called a sociopath. It’s a great thing to have several nicknames when encountering such people.
I will continue to go to the source for reviews just like all the trouble & harassment they gave when we called last.

Someone dear to me has been coming to Porter for ECT treatments and the experience has been nothing but positive! The nurses are so sweet and have really made an effort to get to know both of us.

Rudest Nurses in the World Award ! If my father was able to leave I would have left right after his surgery. Out of the 5 nurses he’s had in the past 2 days 1 of them was actually competent. The workers and security staff are great ! I’d rather have them take care of my dad then the miserable nursing staff. If I got hit by a car in front of Porter I’d have them take me to a different hospital. Yet another prime example of healthcare in America.

I brought my child to Porter for a psyche eval this past February. We went through the metal detector, security went through my purse before we checked in. That is a good thing! At this point it would have been fabulous if they told me that all of my belongings must be locked in my car or they will lock it up for me, not giving me a key. What actually happened is the security guard, of all people, escorted us to a room and demanded our phones. OK, I get the camera/​privacy thing, but then demanded my purse as well. I asked him if I would be holding the key and he said no. At that point, I told him that I will lock my purse in my car, which the nurse (now present) got huffy about because she wanted to begin vitals on my daughter. I told them that I don’t feel comfortable with him just taking my things and keeping the key. The security guard then adresses the RN in front of us, «This woman has an attitude problem.» Really! I was shocked and told him that I am upset for my child and it wasnt personal. He began raising his voice and walking toward me like he wanted a reason to use force. I told both of them that no one in that hospital would be touching my daughter ever, that I am leaving and taking her somewhere that does not treat their patients like criminals, and so thoughtless with people they KNOW are struggling emotionally comming in the door! A security guard should never be the only person escorting a patient to a room before they are triaged-​ever! Furthermore, he in particular, has no right to ever be near a patient of any sort. We did go to Swedish where we were treated with respect from the moment we walked in! Get this, Porter dared to send me a bill for the 5 minutes we were there. Please don’t bring anyone to this ED unless you hate them and want them treated like dirt.

I wish I could give negative stars because I left there far worse off then when I went in.
I was told to rush to the emergency room by my Dr as I had had 20 nosebleeds in 5 days and he had tried clotting it and it didnt help. So, he sent me to Porter ER.
I spent 2 hours there, holding MY OWN nose for two FULL hours while they did NOTHING to help. NOT ONE THING. They didnt run tests to check for blood loss counts. They didnt look for a culprit to the massive nose bleeds. I literaly sat there for two hours when they came in and said, oh look it stopped on its own. you can go now.
Seriously they did NOTHING for me.
THEN came the bill. I got my bill and I paid it IN FULL on THEIR online website. I got a conf number and everything. A month later they sent another bill… are they trying to see if I am dumb enough to double pay? I have been fighting with them for 6 months sending them faxes and emails with PROOF from my bank that says I paid and they keep harassing me. I guess they have the same idiots working in billing that they do in the ER.
Avoid this place at ALL COSTS!

I visited the E.R. here recently and the nurse and doctor I saw were AWESOME. It was the most pleasant E.R. visit I’ve ever had. They got me out of there quickly and were very kind and helpful. They made sure I was comfortable and understood everything that was happening. I was very happy with the care I received from them. The officer in the front and the woman I checked in with were also very helpful and nice.

This hospital is the epitome of Time magazine’s exposé on hospital practices of imposing excessive charges without any justification or rational explanation. My daughter was treated in Porter Adventist’s Emergency room for intoxication in 2013 and I am still fighting over the bill. She lay on a table for several hours with a saline IV, a $ 25 oxygen monitor on her finger and received an «assessment» when she arrived and left. The bill — $ 8,000 from the hospital and $ 300 from the doctor. After 3 written appeals for miscoding the treatment as the most extreme life threatening intervention, I was first told that staffing and equipping hospitals is expensive; and I received an «analysis» of her record showing that in fact her care did not meet the criteria described by the coding. When I pointed out their error, they sent me a REVISED analysis of her record with new treatments listed so the medical coding could be justified. When I appealed a 3^rd time, which I was told would trigger a medical board review, I received the same letter response from their dispute resolution department, simply stating that their first analysis had been incorrect and no changes to the bill would be made.
In short, the hosptal’s appeal process is meaningless and there is no state agency that reviews excessive charges. Porter is clearly one of the many hospitals in the US that believes they can continue to gouge the uninsured without explanation or justification. I wish I could say that other hospitals in the Denver area will treat you better.

The Hospital itself was fine if a bit shabby. I had a total hip replacement done by Dr. Miner of Colorado Joint Replacement who works out of Porter Hospital on ¹¹⁄₀₈. Everything seemed to be fine until after the surgery. I have been through numerous surgeries unfortunately but was by far the worse. I woke up screaming and crying and cringing in pain. It was an unbelievably tramatic experience for someone coming out of surgery. At first they were not sure what happened but it took them 3 hours of pumping dilaudid into me every 5 minutes just to stabalize me. The pain was mind blowing and unexplainable. It turns out my pain block fell out half way through surgery. After finally slightly recovering and getting my pain down from excruciating levels I was brought to a room. It was at that point I realized the surgeon did the wrong surgery. I was supposed to get an anterior approach and he gave me a posterior. Two totally different surgeries. Posterior is more painful, harder to recover from, and a lot more limiting as far as rehab and recovery. Unforutnately, however, my surgeon had left for the weekend. He stated that his associates would come by to check on my over the weekend which they never did. I had started getting my pain under control but it started spiking again Saturday night. My nurse, Marta, who was the highlight of this whole experience broght me a breakthrough pain shot which helped and allowed me to rest and go to sleep. The next day I was trying to talk to the internist, Dr. Fedorawicz, about getting my meds at an appropriate level. He seemed incredibly incompetent and did nothing productive to benefit me or provide me relief. He even tried some unheard of non-​narcotic drug which did absolutely nothing and then cut my pain med dose down. It was mind boggling. He refused to accomodate my spike in pain or to try to make me feel comfortable. They ignored my nurse call 2 times. Then the nurse was over an hour late when a friend of mine went out to find out what was going on. The fact they discolosed all my information to her and disucssed the situation while I was lucid and had not given consent is obviously a HIPPA violation. At that same time, my emergency contact who has my HIPPA number and all my care instructions and information showed up. She walked up to the counter, stated who she was, and tried to get information about my condition. They got mad at her, said they just gave the whole shpeel to my other firend and got an attitude with her. They told her the whole floor is stressed out and it is my fault. That I was somehow doing something that was preventing them from doing their jobs which is to provide for my care. She then started to walk away and he yelled «what are you just going to walk away now?» She stated that yes, if he wasn’t going to help her she was going to see her friend who he then again took an opportunity to berate. At that point he called security on her. Him, two security guards and the nurse then came barging into the room barking at everyone, threatening to kick everyone out and became very agressive. The one security guard even approached my bed, started yelling at me and threatened to have me thrown out or arrested. I am a disabled person who just went through a major surgery. The situation escalated to the point of everything getting totally out of control when I just told my firends to wait outside. I also told them if this was the type of care I was going to get and how I was going to be treated I would leave too. Again, more threats. They even threatened to drag me up to ICU and strap me totallty down to a bed and leave me there. I finally arranged to speak with the Head Nurse in hopes of trying to salvage this situation. He then brought Dr. Fedorawicz back into my room who proceeded to act completely unprofessional and out of line. He was yelling at me, blaming me and accusing me of actions that never happened. He yelled very vehemently that he is not going to do anything to assisty my spike in pain and implicated me as some type of drug seeker. I then told him to leave my room and never to come back. I also had to ask for a new nurse. The rest of the night went ok but by morning I noticed I was completely out of it, no coherent and felt heavily sedated. It turns out he stopped giving my anti-​inflammatories and began sedating me with valium. My surgeon then showed up who I had seen since surgery and never even bothered looking at me, evaluating me, asking me how I felt or anything. He just stood over me and scolded me for the incident the day before and left. This story speaks for itself. I have at least 6 educated, professional friends who have all written statements confirming these horrendous acts. I have been in many hospitals and have had problems in some but never anything this disgusting and atrocious. Shame on you Porter Hospital. Shame on you Dr. Miner. And Especially shame on you Dr. Fedorawicz. I hope this opens peoples eyes to hospital bullying.

As hospital go this is a good one. Every one I had to work with today was very gentle and caring. They explained everything as we went for each test and made sure I was always comfortable

When I staggered into the emergency room barely conscious, I was told there was an hour wait to be seen. My muscle spasms became so bad that the other patients in the waiting room demanded that I be seen! When I couldn’t breathe anymore, I was finally admitted to triage and was told I needed an MRI. The doctor took several hours to get back to me with the results, meanwhile, I was not permitted to eat or drink anything. The doctor at least handed me the results from my lab work, which made it easier to follow up with a specialist later. However, the overall experience of having to wait in the ER and later after the MRI, all while convulsing uncontrollably, was unbearable.

I recently was at Porters ER. Everyone was very professional. However, once I was admitted this changed. I was taken to the cardiac wing and was very disappointed and even felt unsafe. My son picked be up after signing myself out and took me to Saint Anthony’s in Lakewood. I was admitted for 3 days and the care I received was outstanding. The patient advocate at Porters was on top of the complain I filed. Also keep in mind the poor treatment I received was from one specific
nurse and her CNA.

I said in my previous review that I never thought I’d be Unilocaling a hospital, I certainly never thought I’d be updating the review!
My mother came to visit me for Thanksgiving and had a nasty fall on the airplane, the again at DIA. Brent N. and I decided to get her to Porter since it would most likely be less busy than Denver Health.
The emergency room staff was great and so was the staff for the wing she stayed in, 3 North. The caseworkers were great as well and did everything they could to get her in a top notch rehab facility for the remainder of her healing process.
No one wants to spend their holiday weekend in a hospital, but if ya gotta do it, it helps to have a welcoming environment which Porter has.

My mom and dad both got excellent care at Porter over the years. I hadn’t really thought about this hospital for a long time.
Tonight we got care for another family member at Porter. I was quite impressed with the professionalism, attentive care, and cleanliness of Porter.
The family member’s stay is just beginning, so I will be updating this review as time passes.
