La Piccola Venezia

Great night of FUN! We gathered nine friends who hasn’t seen each other in a long time, one had moved out of town. This was such a fun and creative time together… even though everyone said they weren’t creative. The staff was extremely helpful, the food and wine were delicious, the truffles were yummy. Much more fun than the canvas and cocktails type gathering where everyone paints the same thing. Here we all chose different masks, worked on our own creations, and there was no competitive comparisons (as there could be if everyone was painting the same thing). Bravo to La Piccola Venezia

I cannot say enough good things about this place. The atmosphere is fantastic and even if you aren’t super artistic the environment is completely stress free. I went here with a friend thru groupon; we had an amazing time and both of our masks looked great! When doing a group painting session, there is an artist on hand at all times to help. The staff are super friendly! They will go out of their way to make sure you’re relaxed and having fun. All the wines were delicious and the food was great. I also really like how the staff repeatedly told us not to worry about finishing in the 2 hour window we had for out group session, and that we could come back to finish our masks. I would love to do this again, even without a groupon which is saying something for a cheapskate like me!

There are few places where you can tell people just love their job — this is one of them! I unfortunately do not remember the artist’s name, but he and Billy were so friendly and fun to be around. Those 2 hours in our session flew by and I literally cannot wait to go back!

I went with a group of about 15 girls on a Living Social deal. The staff was very helpful and probably pulled in many directions for us. Wine service and food service was pleasant.
I am not that creative, however I did have an idea of what I wanted to do since I was going to a Mardi Gras party coming up. It was a little chaotic since you only have two hours to make your project. They did say you could come back to finish at any time, however that is not what I had in mind.
The one thing that irked (sp?) me the most was that with the short amount of time we had they only had primary paint colors so you literally had to mix your usual colors. I understand if you are trying to make a special shade, but you should have more than just primary colors. Also they had a hair dryer to help speed up the drying process, but they only had one for the about 30 people in the room.
I think this is a great concept, however maybe still going through growing pains? Maybe spend a couple more bucks on your business to make your customers experience less stressful. I know I didn’t pay full price with a Living Social Deal, but glad I didn’t pay full price since it was a tad stressful with the lack of pain colors.

Fantastic place! Conceived in the vein of painting and wine places, these guys put a unique spin on social art experiences. My friend and I took a mask painting class here. We selected a Venetian-​designed plaster and machie mask, our paint colors, and a lovely glass of wine, and received instruction on how to create a Venetian style, wearable mask. They have lovely Italian nibbles available too. I didn’t eat, but the wine was great, the environment was comfortable and pretty, and our instructor Michael was very helpful and inspiring. I’m planning another trip with a larger group soon.

I went here last night with my fiancé on our date night and we had a BLAST!!! The staff was very informative on the background of the masks and questions on painting. Our instructor was Brooks who did an amazing job helping the both of us out. I kept messing up the eyelashes on my mask and he assisted me in getting them how I wanted. Bill (I believe this was his name) did a fantastic job in explain the different types of wines and beverages that they had for us. He also helped us out with some tips and ideas for our masks as well. I also enjoyed his stories that he told of just random topics to include Dub Step haha (Wait for it… Drop the Bass). Anyway I am going way off topic. Overall we had a great time! We had purchased a Groupon for this and from the experience that we had we will definitely be back again and willing to pay full price. Thanks to the shop for a great night!

I purchased a deal for La Piccola Venezia on groupon andwent there with my 8 year old daughter. We had the most amazing and relaxing experience. My daughter finished her mask quickly and begged me to start another one. The instructor was super friendly and was helping my daughter if needed assistance with her project. We will definitely be back!!!

the boyfriend surprised me with a secret date to la Piccola last week and it was a fun experience! First off, everyone that was working there that night was so pleasant and fun. They had a lot of information on the masks and Italy in general, and knowledgeable about the food/​wine available.
You have a lot of masks to choose from and then are given paint to go at it. They have a bunch of masks hanging on the walls that you can ask for, and they will give it to you at your table so you have some «inspiration», for those creativeless people like me. I just googled an idea and went at it. There is also an artist there that will walk around and help you with any questions that you may have.
All in all, it was a great date (good job, boyfriend)!

My family and I just went to La Piccola Venezia today and had an amazing time! It was as fun as one of the ceramic-​painting-​types of places but with a bit more culture and instruction, AND we got to take our masks home with us right away rather than having to go back for them. They have a good selection of mask styles and teach you about the history of the mask you select as well as various painting styles. The instructor was knowledgable and happy to help.
The other cool part is that they offer a wide variety of food and drinks. The white wine that my husband and I had was good and my kids each enjoyed their Italian sodas. There was a tiny issue with a bit of water being spilled, but the servers there were amazingly kind and even brought each of my kids a free gelato to try to make up for the spill. In my opinion, they didn’t owe us anything, but the kids were so happy about the gelato and the servers were so gracious that I really appreciated it.
This was a special family day and because we had an Amazon Local deal, it was really affordable. There are about 20 masks, so we will definitely be back! :)

My friend and I had a great time and were both pleased with our masks. But, both of us are artsy and don’t need a lot of instruction. On the whole, I like this place. But I think the business model is a bit confused and I doubt it will be around long.
The space is beautiful. Way too beautiful to be spilling paint, glitter, glue, etc. all over the wood floors. Around the walls there are decorated Venetian masks for inspiration (and for sale), as well as multiple Venetian decanter sets (also for sale). The room is filled with sturdy wooden tables and looks more like a fine dining establishment than a crafting space. This is part of what I mean about the business model confusion. Along with your «class» to paint a mask, you can also order tapas or dinner. But, I’m not sure how one can reasonably eat while creating. Friend and I ordered some bruschetta, but it was tricky eating them with paint on my hands. Apparently the afternoon class was also having a tasting menu. How do you make that work without getting paint in your food? Or maybe I’m just messy.
The class was odd. They offer classes at 11, 2, and I think 5 each day. My friend and I were the only people there for the early morning time slot on a Sunday. Unlike a Canvas and Cocktails where you sign up for a class and they walk you through how to create a specific painting, this is more free-​form. You can pick whatever blank mask you’d like to paint and then the instructor will give you tips and techniques. This worked for us, but like I said, we’re artsy. I really don’t know how it would work if the class was full of people who are not as artfully inclined. The instructor also tried to get us to commit to a color scheme before we started painting and started us off with 2 – 3 colors. Upon looking at their supplies, I understand why. They are using really expensive nice paint at this place. I think it would make more sense to use less expensive, yet still adequate, supplies and allow the customer more freedom and choice of paint. I’m the type of person who figures it out as I go along and the restriction at the beginning was a little disarming. Along with paint, they have paper that you can use/​glue on your mask, as well as glitter and feathers. They also have some stencils. Friend and I were talking after, and it would make sense if they had more stencils for common patterns one would want to do on a mask (swirls, flowers, argyle diamonds, etc.). That could help less experienced painters. It would also be nice if they had classes that focused on maybe two or three designs on a particular mask shape. For example — today we’re focusing on the cat mask and we’ll walk you through how to do either this checkerboard design or this swirly design.
It seems like this place is trying to be too much, rather than focusing on one thing and doing that well. I just don’t see how it can survive, especially in the Creek (you know rent must be outrageous), but maybe I’ll end up being pleasantly surprised.
Oh, and if it does survive, I hope they will rethink their wine selection. It is possible to get inexpensive wine that tastes good. Sadly, neither the white nor red options we tried was enjoyable.
I’m glad that thanks to an Amazon Local deal we tried this place out (they mentioned they also have Living Social and Groupon deals out there if you’re interested). And, I would go again. It’s definitely something different.

We had our daughter’s birthday in LPV in July. They had a great time painting their favorite mask and enjoyed yummy shakes and Pizza. The best part was that adult who stayed had a great time. One of the best birthday memories of our kids where we actually got to enjoy ourselves too. Amazing place to have in Denver!
