Jacobs Service Center

I use to promote this shop all the time and they have done someone descent work in the past but I would not trust them to work on my car anymore. They were going to charge me $ 600 to replace my blower motor which I did for $ 150.00. If you go to them make sure you know the actual cost for parts and labor before having them do work for you. Always shop around because they are often over priced and have long wait periods for service.

Very satisfied customer. When I can’t fix it myself, I take to Jacob’s: straight shooters.

I went here for a pre purchase inspection on a suburu. I was in a rush and my car stayed untouched for a long time before I went up to the counter again and asked about it. Then, they spent very little time (like 15 or 30 minutes) looking through the car. They charged me a hundred bucks and said that the only thing wrong was a few quick fixes.
What makes me frustrated– they told me that my brakes had 70% left. This was 4000 miles ago.
Now the brakes are at less than 25% –as confirmed by two different mechanic shops.
I researched how fast people can get through brake pads. (Mind you, I’m a slow driver who doesn’t need to hard brake often at all). It should take 25,000−50,000 miles for brake pads to wear.
So either I braked an OBSCENE amount to wear out half the brake pads in 4000 miles… OR they lied.
It’s a bit disappointing that I paid a hundred bucks for them to tell me very little info on a car… And some of it seemed made up now.
If I did wear out half of my brake pads in 4000 miles, I guess it’s my bad. And sorry. But I’m writing because I really think that this wasn’t the case, especially since they gave a half-​assed job for the whole inspection in general.
It’s the little things.
But disappointing nonetheless.
I’m giving it two stars instead of one because I don’t want to ruin these guys business, you know? People like them on here and that’s why I went there in the first place. But I’m posting my frustrations because I think pre purchase inspections are really important and I’m hoping that they would put more effort into them. It gives the only info You have on a car before buying it.

Go to Jacobs. You can go to Copper Kettle if it is a small job or not. Two of my favorite places; Jacobs and Copper Kettle.

My car broke down and I had to have it worked on last minute. I called Jacob’s a couple of minutes before they closed and they said no problem drop it off and they could fit it in. I had it towed that night, left my keys in their after hours, and the next day spoke with them and they had it fixed the following day. They did a great job communicating and getting my approval before any work was done. On top of that, explained the issue and parts needed very well. I believe the price was what it should have been, they were honest and did great work!

What can I say that other reviewers haven’t said? Jacob’s is an honest, reliable and competent place of business. They’ve had my trust for years.

Running a used car dealer on only a handful of employees can get tricky. Jacob’s Service Center is one of our most highly valued vendors as they perform quality work at a reasonable price, the cars are usually done within a day and most importantly, out of the dozens of cars we’ve sent them for mechanical work not one has had to go back a second time.
When you walk in you are greeted with a friendly atmosphere and the mechanics are always in a good mood and there’s an ample set of amenities to help you kill time if you’re waiting for your car.

I moved to Denver in the fall of 2013 and was a little worried when I needed some work done on my car. Based on Unilocal reviews I thought I’d give Jacob’s Service Center a try and I am very happy to say that they now have a loyal customer.
I’ve had my car in twice and have been very pleased. Their staff is easy to work with, efficient, and they are very price competitive.

These guys are the best. I was recommended by a local used car dealership, and I’m really glad I was. Rob (the owner) and Al know great customer service and run an honest, family-​owned business. These guys helped me out a great deal when the engine in my Toyota Camry died. I’ll keep coming back with my new car, and I’ll refer anyone looking for a good mechanic.

If only every repair experience was this satisfying.
They did exactly what I hoped they would do; tracked down a rare and peculiar problem with my car and fixed it, all in a reasonable amount of time for a fair price.

We took our car to a place near home initially, because they had great reviews. But they had our car for 2 whole days and never called to keep us updated on it (I had to do all the calling), so we decided to pick it up and take it somewhere else. Jacob’s did everything in one day and for almost $ 200 less than what the other place quoted us. The guys at Jacob’s were friendly and helpful, and I didn’t feel like I was fishing for info.

these guys are the best!!! they only use original parts, and they guarantee their work. my wife and I will not take our vehicles anywhere else but Jacob’s. thanks for being a straightforward and honest company. all businesses could learn a lot from Jacob’s!!!

Had my SUVs serviced here recently. I agree with every review about Jacobs Service Center found here, on CitySearch, and GOOGLE. These are one of friendliest and most knowledgeable mechanic shops that I have been to. Honest, too. I cannot speak to getting a list of the most important repairs first and cost because I did not get one, but I can imagine if you ask for a 100% inspection and list + cost, they will be honest with what critical needs should be addressed now and what other needs should be addressed later.
’95 SUV: oil change, diff fluid change, and AC service
— told them that I had not had AC for 4 years
ANSWER: not holding vacuum; let’s change the o-​rings and see what happens.
RESULT: I got cold air!
— told them that maybe my distributor needed changing as I hear a clicking on acceleration.
ANSWER: nope, not the distributor. Just need oil. Oil change will take care of that.
RESULT: No more clicking.
–told them that my tranny was clunky and I wanted a diff fluid change.
RESULT: It seems that my clunking tranny issues are no longer there. hmmm… maybe my tranny was okay and it just needed some fluid?
OVERALL RESULT: The SUV is running awesome with cold AC. Pickup upon starting no longer hesitates. The SUV now gets up and goes!

’99 SUV: timing belt broke (while driving), oil change, rear diff fluid change
— told them to wait on fixing the car as my timing belt broke while I was driving (oops, my bad; I guess 40k past service CAN cause problems). I was concerned that my valves were messed up, so my wife and I questioned if we should fix or junk. :(
ANSWER: You’re not the only owner that this has happened to; our experience is that the valves are okay. Let’s put on a new belt and see what happens. If the valves are damaged, we’ll know ASAP, and you’re only out the cost of the tear down and belt; AND we’ll give you «the call». Otherwise, we’ll proceed with replacing the water pump and belts and other service requested.
RESULT: Did not get «the call». Did not get any lecture about neglecting my vehicle. Got my SUV back, with a smile and «you’re good for another 100k!». And so far, it’s running great!

My wife took our VW Passatt into them, as our check engine light was on. The gentleman behind the counter was extremely friendly and helpful. He said to usually leave it with them for 3 – 4 hours to take a look. My wife was going to wait around for it to be done since she didn’t have any means of going anywhere. Well, they took care of it right away in about an hour!
My wife was so happy that they saved about 3 hours of waiting for her. The mechanic was also very helpful in explaining what was wrong, what needs fixing etc.
We will definitely be back, as their prices are super competitive, and the staff is supremely helpful and friendly.

I took my car here because a quick-​lube place said my brake fluid was low. It didn’t look low to me, but since it’s 7 years old, I wanted a mechanic to look at it and flush it if needed.
They looked at it and said that they’d be taking my money if they did a flush. I really appreciate the honesty, we just found a new mechanic.

I’ve been using Jacobs for about 7 years now. When I owned a business I learned VERY quick that the chainstores (you know the ones, they do brakes only or tires) were a ripoff waiting to happen. Always «finding» problems that you didn’t know existed. So I had a rule, change the oil anyplace convenient — but if I had a mechanical problem — go to Jacob’s. I’ve never had a bad repair there, with 8 different cars (some of which were in service at my company) there were never any problems with the repairs they undertook. Was always fixed right the first time. I send everybody I know there, MOST dont listen to me because they think they got «a deal» — those that do, become loyal customers the first time.

This place was recommended to me by a co-​worker, whose entire family uses them. I was new to CO and not in the mood to deal with a mechanic who would try to rip me off just because I’m a girl/​woman. Before I moved to CO from MI, my dad always handled the car details, and from the very first visit, the guys at Jacobs Service made me feel like they were my surrogate mechanic dads. While my car has never actually needed much beyond an oil change in the 4 years that I’ve been going here, they’ve always been super nice, have never once tried to push any extra services, and their prices are beyond what I consider fair. They go above and beyond to answer my questions, and immediately double check any issues I bring up before I even leave the shop.
My one recommendation: call ahead to schedule your appt because these guys don’t seem to be hurting for business. I usually have to call about a week ahead to get an appt, but it’s well worth it to give my business to someone I can trust.

Jacobs is the best. I’ve been taking my car there for years, and they always give me the straight talk. They’ll give me the news, in order of priority, of anything my vehicle needs immediately that may be a safety issue; but also look over the car and tell me what to plan for in the future as far as repairs. Finding a good mechanic is like finding a good massage therapist. You want to tell all your friends, but then, you may not be able to get an appointment.
