If you love beer its definitely a place to go. Also know that it is rare to make it in as they’re only open 4 hours a week. Thursday and Fridays 4 – 6. So stop in when you can and say hi to Joel because he’s a bad ass!

Boooo Flying Dog for moving their Brewery from Denver to Maryland! I drink a lot of their beer while at home in Phoenix, so when I went to Denver for the holidays Flying Dog Brewery was at the top of my list of things to go and see and do. When my girl and I showed up, we were confused because their logo is still on the front door (which was unlocked) but when we walked in, it was empty. We walked over to the bar next door and were told that the Brewery moved.
As far as their beers, my favorites have been Road Dog Scottish Porter, their seasonals Woody Creek White (a Belgian Wit) and Dogtoberfest.
I will continue to drink Flying Dog but I am really bummed that I was not able to tour their facility. Plus, it really sucks that they are no longer a Colorado Brewery.

I don’t know what Flying Dog looks like on a normal day (as a matter of fact, Google Maps says ‘place closed’ but offers no further information), but I headed down to the former brewery tonight for the Denver Tweetup (free beer to raise money for the Food Bank of the Rockies!) and found the warehouse-​style space airy and pleasant even when filled with 300 Twitterers and their beer.
As for said beer, I’m not a fan. But don’t reject Flying Dog’s brews because I didn’t enjoy them. I just don’t like beer. Yes, I know, blasphemy, sacrilege, etc. I’ll go wash my keyboard out with soap and stand in the corner. But plain and simple, beer isn’t my thing. Give me a nice chocolate martini any day. I’d sooner drink even the boxiest of boxed white wines than a beer.
I did discover that the wheat ale being served was quite tolerable, which is much more than I can say for most beers.
But again, the atmosphere and the capacity to hold hundreds of mostly energetic young professionals was what impressed me. I don’t know if I’d want to hang out at Flying Dog without a crowd of 300, but I’ll hit up an event held there any day.
One warning: The left-​hand side of the parking lot is not for the brewery. Be smarter than me and don’t park there. Just bring your coin purse and find street parking.

Flying Dog is a good sports bar. Its a good spot to come and watch the game. The bar has a warm, low key feel to it. Highly recommended.

I’ve been a fan of Flying Dog for a few years now. We did their tour with some Philly friends, who for a few years now, have order a keg of Flying Dog special for their annual pig roast in suburban Philly. The tour was fun and our guide held up to the intense questioning by the amateur brewer in our group. I recommend it to anyone looking for something to do with out of town guests — free beer is always a winner.
We like to pick up the sampler pack for our BBQ events. Yeah, there are a few varieties that aren’t my favorites, but I use them for my brats!

Traveling to Colorado from New York, I was amazed at the number of breweries located not only in Colorado, but inside Denver’s city limits. Flying Dog was the first brewery my friend and I went to in Denver and the beginning of our quest for shuffleboard supremacy as the bar afterwards provided us tons of gaming options. I can imagine what it must be like on game days.
The beer itself was pretty good, I’ve been to Europe so I’m bias when it comes to beer, but if you want the best America has to offer in terms of microbrews, Denver and The Flying Dog Brewery is an essential stop on the tour as it embodies what beer is all about: good taste, great friends, and games that you must win to prove you are better at your friends at everything.

We took the Flying Dog tour and it was wonderful. I hate to say it but how can you give anything that hands out free beer less than 4 stars. Come on… They start you off with a free pint to take the tour with and while no beer connoisseur, I liked their offerings a lot. Our tour guide Devon was awesome and requested that we not be «ass hats» during the tour. Hilarious. Devon was great about answering questions and very knowledgeable. Sometimes when someone other than the brewer gives the tour, you don’t learn as much.
Flying Dog is one of Colorado’s largest craft brewers and it was cool to see such a large-​scale operation. Plus, the tour of Flying Dog includes a tour of Stranahan Whiskey, which is the only whiskey distillery in Colorado. Apparently it gets rave reviews but I thought it tasted like dirty socks in your mouth. I hate all whiskey though.
The end of the tour included more free beer. What’s not to love…

It seems to be that Flying Dog only has one good beer, the Tire Bite. Sure all their labels are awesome pieces of artwork by Ralph Steadman (Hunter S. Thompson’s personal illustrator) but… the beer tastes kind of suck. Especially the IPA.
I don’t care for dark beers, but my hubber does and he doesn’t like Flying Dog either.
It’s cool that they are local, and some people like their beer. Give it a try for yourself for free at one of their tasters.
