TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Horrible. Denver Engine was recommended to me by a friend as a place that does good work affordably. I brought them my old van to replace a bad alternator. They charged me $ 450.
A month or two before my ignition switch went bad but until we knew for sure, my friend took the alternator out (3 bolts, 15 minutes) and took it to Autozone to test. It was good, but we’d checked the prices there for a replacement: $ 152. So, when the alternator really did go bad, it was something of a shock to be quoted $ 450!!! They said it was $ 300 for the alternator and $ 150 for labor. When I told them the next day, before they did the work, that I could get one at Autozone for $ 152, then said they didn’t use Autozone. Huh? They said they used NAPA. So I looked up the same alternator there – $ 170. So I got charged $ 130 more for the part than I could have bought it for RETAIL, and 2 hours of labor. (Remember – it took my friend 15 minutes to take off so I can assume a similar time to re-​install. I even called a dealer (Landmark Lincoln/​Mercury) and they said labor would be $ 150 (the same as DETE), but they could get an alternator for $ 160 (or I could bring one in) and they’d install. So, $ 310 instead of $ 450. When I told them they were charging twice what I could get the part for RETAIL and $ 140 more than a Mercury DEALER, they still wouldn’t budge.
Never going back again. I read once that good service is not passed on to friends as often as poor service and experience; that the average circle of influence each of us have is 250. Well, I’m starting the ripple effect here. I should have read Unilocal first – their overall rating is lower than any in the area.

When you go to a shop with professional mechanics, you expect professional treatment. Not only were they not like this here, they were quite honestly rude and condescending. The company I work for had purchased a transmission from these guys and because of their error, it of course ceased working. They had given us a warranty for said transmission, and after contacting these guys attempting to have them honor the warranty, they refused. I wish I could be able to leave a good review, but the unprofessional staff and the lack of caring with the company, I can’t.

I worked with this company for a transmission on one of our trucks. I personally drove the transmission to them with the help of other coworkers. When i first pulled up there attitudes weren’t pleasant at all. Our company spent a lot of money to have them fix it. In doing so they ended up messing it up to where we couldn’t get it back into the spot correctly. We called multiple times to try and get someone to come help us concidering they were they ones who messed it up when rebuilding it. When they came they had attitudes once again. After weeks of being without our truck we finally had it installed. They knew there could be a problem so they signed out receipt for a warranty. Not even 2 months later it broke down all the way out in Colorado springs. Our drivers were stuck out there and we had to pay a tow truck and also go get the stranded coworkers. Our customers were devastated. How do you tell your customer that your stuff and truck is stranded in Colorado Springs? We took a huge hit for this. We then contacted this company to honor their warranty they signed agreeing to and they didnt. They still will not honor it and our truck is still down simply because of the transmission. We have lost so so so much money because of this. I don’t usually like to write things like this but it is the truth and has effected not only me, but the company I work for, their families, and our customers. Everyone beware. I would not want anyone to break down and feel stranded and not even have someone keep to the word when the mistake was theirs to begin with. We weren’t asking for refunds or reimbursement for all the money we have lost. Just to simply fix the issue that they created to begin with. If I were you, I would look for a different company with morals and values and also know how to do the job that they were paid to do.

This place is this place is terrible and dishonest. They LIE to their customers. PURPOSELY UNDERBID THE JOB THEN SLOWLY DOUBLED PRICE and then REFUSED TO HONOR WARRANTY we brought a vehicle to get a transmission replaced they gave us a quote of $ 1200 wound up charging us over $ 2500. DIED IN A MONTH, that being the case we came back to have it serviced under the warranty. BLEW OFF WARRANTY AND BOTCHED TRANSMISSION.

Darryl quoted me a fair price to replace my engine & got it done faster than anticipated so my final bill was $ 50 under the estimate. :)
I did have to stay on top of the communication, but he was patient & available to answer my questions.
The turn around was not bad considering that they seemed pretty busy.
As a woman, it was nice to find a garage where I felt respected. No one was macho, condescending, manipulative or creepy.
I will update if anything arises, but the work seems to be good quality.

I would not recommend this place. Highly unsatisfied customer. Misdiagnosed my car and because of this it cost me 4x more than what I would have paid if they got it right the first time. Customer service not that great and to top it off they SMOKED in my car when they took it out to make sure everything was working!

This shop had my car for 1 week and charge $ 1400 to fix it. They put on the wrong sway bar and out tape on the bar to try to hold it together. Need less to say that it did not work. Beware!

Had my transmission serviced there, it was shifting hard, it cost $ 360. 3 months later my car brakes down, it wont drive or go into gear, and I take it back to them, to look at it. It took them 3 days they didn’t even look at, but said it would cost a little over $ 3300 hundred to repair it. This shop it full of Con artists, bewares if you need to get your transmission services or repaired.

I recommend these guys! I’ve been taking my 2008 Suzuki SX4 and my 1998 Toyota 4-​runner (that has 205k miles and still runs great) here for about 3 years. They replaced the 4runner starter, sway bar links, and a few other normal wear out items. Good service, competitive pricing and prompt service. This is a place that I recommend. I’ve had a good experience with this shop.
