Contacted Controlling Systems in September 2015 for a furnace tuning, cleaning, and safety inspection. The technician arrived on time and started working. Fifteen minutes later, he told me the inducer gasket was missing a part and that the heat exchanger was purplish in color due to overheating. The tech estimated a price for a new furnace and left a few minutes later after accepting payment.
I called my home warranty company the next day, as they would cover this kind of issue. Their HVAC affiliate sent a service technician out the next day, who concluded the Controlling Systems tech was incorrect.
I then got a third opinion from a Dr. Fix-​It technician who also found no fault with the furnace parts the CS tech identified.
I called CS to express my concerns with the inspection, reached someone claiming to be the owner, and received a laundry list of «CYA» excuses in addition to a promise to refund my charges and have a service manager follow up with me (after telling me he would have the tech fired if he found out there was any wrongdoing).
I did not get a phone call or a refund. Buyer beware!

I contacted Controlling Systems to fix my gas fireplace. It was easy to find a time to schedule the appointment. Gus came out today and he was on time and very professional. He was done in less than 30 minutes and the repair was simple and the price was reasonable. There was no attempt to upsell additional services. Great experience.

Thank you for correcting the issue. Brent came out turned the thermostat back on and diagnosed the problem with the furnace. He explained the repair price and provided a quote for a replacement. He was very knowledgeable and courteous.

Unfortunately I have to update my review. For beginners, after opening my furnace after last year’s visit to replace the filter, we found that the guy had taken a filter that was 2X too big, folded with awkwardly and shoved it in the opening. I found this to be pretty lame, since our furnace takes a pretty standard sized filter, but oh well. Wasn’t overly concerned. I had Controlling Systems back out this year when my furnace stopped working suddenly, and they fella told me I needed a new motor after looking at the furnace for quite literally 20 seconds. I am no fool, it was abundantly clear that he was lazy and saw an opportunity to make a quick buck on me. I called up Meyer’s for a second opinion. That guy spent a good 40 min taking the furnace apart to diagnose the problem. He took out the broken part (which had nothing to do with the motor by the way) and had their shop fix it for a grand total of $ 180.00, exactly $ 1320.00 less than Controlling Systems quoted to replace something that would not have even fixed the problem. Very disappointing. On a positive note, I was refunded for the visit by Controlling Systems. I will go with a more honest and capable company next time around.

I loved these guys! Shawn was the tech who came to service the furnace. He was very friendly and informative. He taught me some great best practices to follow that will save us money on our energy bill. I have them a try and they work better than just kicking the furnace down in temperature during the summer. I highly recommend these guys!

We just installed a brand new AC unit and was given a $ 400 discount by Controlling Solutions. I received three bids from the major players in town and Controlling Solutions definitely won our business. Great Unilocal reviews really helped with our decision along with being a Denver based company since 1976. I did my research and was very happy with their pricing, installation and overall service.
After our installation, we had a small issue and Controlling Systems fixed it without charge and extended our warranty for another 3 months to cover the difference.

Another good experience with Controlling Systems. Basically a thorough maintenance/​cleaning service call on my A/​C because the coil and line were freezing up. I trust these guys a lot — they discussed the maintenance work, showed me where things needed cleaning and where they didn’t. They charged me a very reasonable rate and did a great job. Everything you want in a contractor. I’ve used them before and am still a happy customer. Highly recommended.
[This service was 6÷15÷15, by Sean. They also did a much bigger job in Jan ’14 that I was also happy with (duct repairs). ]
P. S. Unilocal had a nice $ 75 voucher for $ 35 for Controlling Systems — so basically saving $ 40 off the call. Nice!

Top Notch Service. I called due to no heat in my house. Service Tech was here at the appointed time. He did call to say he was in route. Solved my issue within minutes, gave me a quote and also mentioned a Coupon they had available. That was very thoughtful and saved me $ 40.00. Initially I thought that the services were too high since I didn’t have time to call and check, I paid him and once he left I called for other HVAC service providers and he was right on par with the other quotes I received.

Our furnace stopped heating, was blowing cold air, and it was below 20 degrees, so we called Controlling Systems. They scheduled a same day appointment, and Sean arrived when they said he would. He diagnosed the problem (burned out limit switch), went and got a new part, installed it, tested the system, and charged $ 237.
I do service work as well, in a different field, and for a same day emergency repair, that is a very good price.
Sean deserves my thanks, and a raise. He is an excellent representative for the company.

We had two vents in our new house that weren’t pushing out heat at all. Controlling Systems was great and said if they couldn’t diagnose the problem because ducts were in the wall or something, they wouldn’t charge the $ 49 diagnostic charge. They sent someone out within 2 days of my call. He was very nice and helpful. The problem was simply the previous owner had used the wrong type of filter in the furnace. He had the right one in his car and voila, fixed. He did warn me of the vents not being in great spots come summer, and we talked about additional a/​c options even though we have central air. He was very helpful and informative, though I do wish he had been a bit more responsive to my statements about waiting to see how it is in the summer and save a little just in case. Then again, I know upselling is necessary, and I’m sure we do need the product!

Controlling Systems sent Sean, who was very nice and knowledgeable. We had a great conversation, even a little small talk about music. I expressed interest in zone heating, and instead of just trying to sell me on the considerably greater expense and work, he explained it would not be the best thing when considering installation and long-​term cost-​to-​benefit.
The company gave us a bid for both a repair and a new furnace, even adding some additional info at my request to submit to my home warranty company, then Sean called to explain it very patiently, and then followed up today (a few weeks since we last discussed the new furnace). While I may revise my input pending any major work they do, I couldn’t be happier with the way we’ve been treated.

Called to get a tune up on my furnace, they did a great job and were very knowledgeable. The furnace is working great now, fixed some things while doing the tune up and didn’t charge me extra for. The only thing is they didn’t call me before my appt. when they were on their way and I had to call the office in order for them to tell the tech to call me for the ETA. Other than that, they were overall great and will be calling them again for my next hvac problem.

Gave these guys a call based on the Unilocal reviews and everything went super smoothly from booking to finish. I’ve had bad luck with service appointments with other companies in the past so I am always ready for the worst when I have to book any sort of service appointment, but these guys provided service as it should be!
They called to confirm their arrival, were within my appointment window, and I am back with heat on. The technician provided a ton of really helpful information and options in getting me back on and for future work to keep my system running great. I will definitely use these guys again.

I can’t say enough good things about this company, or Gus. He’s fantastic, fast, professional, courteous, and what techs should be.
It’s the second time I hired Gus to replace a broken ignitor on my older Rheem furnace, and I immediately thought of Controlling Systems when I realised that the furnace wasn’t igniting. An hour or so later, the house was no longer a refrigerator, thanks to Gus. =) Oh yeh, they have great pricing as well.
Next step is to replace the furnace with a new model and the control unit.
