Blu Note Audio & Home Theater

I should have posted up my review of them a long time ago. Stay away, Brandon likes to do the opposite of what a good business should. his favorite is to over promise and under deliver way under deliver. Keith C has got to be a friend of his or something as I have no clue how anyone could give them a good review.
from the start they messed up my order and lied to me about it. I actually had to call the company that was making the sound bar for my tv and correct the order. The install is messy and unprofessional there are wires all over the place, they broke face plates and never replaced them. Brandon will show you how well all the AV stuff integrates with your iphone/​ipad at the store and tell you that it can all be upgraded and repaired remotely. yeah. not reality, nothing but issues and the remote upgrade/​fixes go out the window (I actually never got any remote fixes) they will then charge you $ 125/​hr to «fix» what should work in the first place. oh and what happens if comcast decides to send you a new modem. well that actually costs $ 6000 ! yes $ 6000 is what I was quoted from blu note because they no longer are licensed to sell/​support crestron so it will be $ 6000 to upgrade/​change equipment and reprogram the whole system.
why am I writing this now? because I am frustrated as hell, its a snow day here in colorado and I spent about 20 minutes trying to play xmas music for my kids on my AV system that costs about as much as a new small car to no avail. you have been warned. stay away from blu note.

Horrible excuse of a company.
They over promise and NEVER deliver. The owner Brandon is a conartist and has no business serving the Colorado community. With all of the negative customer experiences posted you would think they would change their business practices and start acting ETHICAL, FIND MORALS and treat people as they would like to be treated by others!!!

Can’t remember the last time I was so disappointed with someone’s service or experienced such ineptitude. Brandon, the owner of Blu Note, continuously over committed and under delivered. I don’t not recommend using Blu Note, in fact I would run! Demetri was the only saving grace but even he couldn’t save this deal. They abandoned us at the end leaving us without a complete system and owing us $ 1454.40.

Terrible customer service after the purchase. Left many calls to schedule a follow up appointment. After being told numerous times that the appropriate individual would call to schedule a appointment, I never received the calls.
This is the place to go if you expect little in customer service after the purchase.

I scheduled a listening session at Blu Note with Marc and Brandon back in September as they were the only Paradigm dealer in Colorado. I went there and brought my test CD to the store for a listening session and started auditioning speakers. After I listened to a track I noticed the left and right imaging was off and told them about it; they checked the connections on their Parasound CD player and realized they had it summed to mono (whoopsie there guys, as my boss would say «that should’ve been caught, the client shouldn’t be catching these things!»). For all the pseudo-​science talk they spouted up front about needing to «lay the cables flat for hours and have the amp on for days before my listening session» to get the most accurate sound, to make a basic stereo connection mistake like that was pretty bad. Regardless, I took a listen and decided to order a pair of Studio 20s and a center channel on September 13^th. This is where the frustration comes in.
Sep13th: Paid $ 3,375 for order of three speakers. Was quoted 5 to 8 days for the speakers to arrive and that I would get a shipping notice in my email inbox as soon as they got one from Paradigm.

Sep18th: I called Blu Note asking how close the speakers are to arrive as I had not received a shipping email. I talk to Barb (the receptionist) on the phone who says they haven’t received a shipping notice from Paradigm yet, but that she will have Marc call me back by the end of the day. Marc does not call back.

Sep19th: I call and get Marc on the phone, who says he’ll look into it and give me a call by the end of the day. Again, Marc does not call back.

Sep 21^st: I leave a voicemail message asking for better communication from Blu Note in general, and to call me back with further information as to what Blu Note is doing about this concerning the delay.

Sep23rd: I wait until 2 in the afternoon to hear back from my voicemail when there’s still no reply; I call and get Brandon on the phone. He says he will look into it and give me a call back, as well as have Marc call me back as well. Neither one calls me back. Late at night I get a text from Brandon saying that Barb should hear back no later than 10am on the 24^th and that Brandon will call with an update then.

Sep24th: I wait until the afternoon when I have still not heard back from Brandon as promised. I text asking him «was I supposed to hear back from you after 10 this morning? have not received a followup communication of any sort.» He texts back saying «Shipping tomorrow upon shipping notification receipt Barb will forward.»

Sep25th: I again wait until the afternoon to call when I have not received any shipping update in my inbox. I get Marc on the phone who says that Barb would know, and writes my number down to have Barb call back within the day. I do not hear back from Barb.
Sep26th: Speakers finally ship, I get them on October 3^rd when I pick them up from Blu Note. No apology nor explanation was given for anything.
I get the speakers, and over time I keep thinking «something doesn’t sound right.» I got busy and time passed; finally in December I come into Blu Note with the one speaker that didn’t sound right. After them having the speaker for about 2 weeks, they determine the tweeter was blown. Pretty premature thing to happen to a speaker I had just gotten 3 months prior, but they said Paradigm wouldn’t cover it in their warranty and that it’d be around $ 70 – 80 bucks for the tweeter, plus Blu Note’s installation. I authorized $ 142 for Blu Note to replace the blown tweeter and install a new one. I drop it off and about a week later Marc calls (yes, he actually calls; what a miracle) and says it’s ready for pickup. About a hour later I show up at their doorstep at 11am on a Thursday, only to find the doors locked during their normal business hours. I call the place and Barb answers the phone saying she’ll come up front to unlock the door and let me in, as there’s no one on the floor (what is going on with this place?). I see my speaker’s box all packed up and ready to go, as I had already paid for it. I get the speaker home, reconnect everything, and everything sounds great! The problem? I take off the speaker grill and there was a pinhole dent in the big white mid driver that was NOT there when I dropped off the speaker. I take a picture of it and send it to Marc, who replies «the speaker was not in this condition when it left the store.» They completely denied it.

Consumers beware! Blu Note comes across as high-​end, professional, and courteous establishment and after a 4 – 5 weeks struggle, I can confirm that they are none of these.
I purchased $ 3000 worth of equipment and was told it would take 2 – 3 weeks to arrive. Once I purchased the equipment, I was passed off from the salesperson (Kevin) to some other guy (Jeremy — still not sure what he does there). It seemed as if they completely lost track of my order.
After waiting 3 weeks, I called to follow up — no one answered. I emailed both Jeremy and Kevin — no response. I left voicemails and even a text message. Finally Jeremy responded with «I am sick and will get back to you next week». After around 4 weeks of waiting, they actually suggested that I purchase the equipment (that I already PAID for) from another vendor.
I finally had enough and sent them an email asking for a refund… again, no response! I literally did not get a response until I drove 30 minutes out of my way and showed up on their doorstep.
While I understand that things happen and orders get delayed, it was their lack of response, the way I was passed off from employee to employee. Everyone had a different excuse and pointed their fingers at others.
Pathetic.

I had the same experience as the other guys… I stopped by, they pitched me what they wanted to sell and didn’t want to hear about what I wanted. I had them come by my house and do a walkthrough, and they asked me to come back for a meeting at their shop. They didn’t have any numbers ready for me at that time, so after another hour of chit chat, Brandon said he’d get me numbers on Tuesday-​Wednesday. A week has gone by and nothing. This place won’t be in business long.

I had a great experience with the guys at blu note. I knwe what I wanted and had a clear understanding prior to going in but the guy I spoke with was extermely helpful and knew his stuff. I wanted paradigm surround speakers, and after haing a discussion and looking at the new studio models, and telling him of my room constraints he agreed with em about getting the surrounds. He gave me a 10% military discount and I’d only mention I was in iraq and bought my old paradigm speakers after coming back being ther a year.
I am horrible with names or I’d provide it but since moving here from Atlanta and having to start over with a new home theater set up, i need a place that can fufill my needs.

I agree with the previous reviews. Blu Note seemed most interested in selling whatever they wanted not what I wanted. They seemed to dismiss me when I neglected to buy on my first visit. I won’t go back.

They say they take pride in listening to prospective customers to really understand the prospect’s goals.
Except that they did all the talking. I really don’t care that the owner (?) has an MBA from Stanford.
I went into the store with a very specific goal. I was looking for an audio amplifier (2-​channel) that would go to sleep (as my computer does) when not in use and thereby consume a lot less electricity. I explained that we leave both our amps on ²⁴⁄₇ so we can control them using the Remote app on the iPhone.
I went into THIS store because I expected them to be knowledgeable about stereos and such. (I would never even consider making such a request at Best Buy or Ultimate Electronics). I was looking for advice and to make a purchase.
They were of no help.
So, I went home and after 1+ hours surfing the InnerTubes®, I discovered that the magic phrase is «Energy Star compliant». Oh, duh. It turns out that 2 years ago, our government established a standard for audio amplifiers.
So, how come the guys at Blu Note could not tell me that? After all, their «expertise goes beyond that of the typical retailer.»
