Ace on The FAX

I had the best customer service here. A friendly young man asked what I needed, directed me and carried the bag to the register and then to my car. He was delightful and definitely the reason I will return to the Ace in the Fax!

I’ve been in this store a few times and always found the customer service to be excellent, but I’m blown away by their garden center! Who knew that a hardware store would have such an amazing selection of plants (and best prices) in the Denver area. Shout out to Pam and Abby in the garden center for being so knowledgeable and helpful, my garden is thriving and the veggies are doing great… thank you ladies!

We purchased a large umbrella from Ace. They delivered and assembled it beautifully! Juel did a great job. They are absolutely super with customer service — extremely helpful but not in a pushy way and exceeding expectations. Thank you for being such a great community resource.

Well-​stocked hardware store and garden center (best I’ve been to in Denver). A+++ for Morgan’s customer service. We were frustrated with a 70-​year-​old doorknob/​door lock conundrum, and Morgan helped move us from frustrated to solution-​oriented. He helped us solve the puzzle through his troubleshooting, and he really seemed to enjoy doing it. Morgan is the best and we will be back!

I moved into Park Hill about a year ago and found this store. They have consistently exceeded my expectations from the knowledgeable and friendly staff, to the beyond cool folks in back.
Yesterday was a case in point. I had been struggling with my Honda lawnmower that I bought from Home Depot for weeks. They were supposedly «fixing it» after a winter laid dormant with bad gas, the mower, and not… well, this isn’t about me.
The MENSAs at Home Depot couldn’t get the goddarn thing to run consistenly (took it back twice after humping it in an out of my car). Went to pick it up after it was «fixed» yesterday, and the GD thing was running at half speed. I grabbed the thing, jammed it back in my car and went to Ace on the Fax hoping for deliverance.
Deliverance indeed! The folks out back felt my pain over the Home Depot experience. With one pull of the mower, the dude out back (I’m horrible with names, but the big feller) heard the engine and knew, like in a millisecond, what the issue was.
There was a GD Honda repair bulletin on it! Now what happened next is where the Ace on the Fax shines. Bigman was going home, but seeing my state of mental distress, delayed his departure to the beautiful world of non-​work, and fixed it on the spot! A quick trip to grab him a twelver of Heineken left smiles all around. And yes, the mower is working perfectly!
I will not set foot in the Home Depot again. AotF is the best!

I think what I like about Ace on the Fax is their commitment to finding the part you need. If you need some obscure grill or lawnmower part and they don’t carry an analogous brand or part they will take all the info and call you back days later after doing the adequate research to find what you need. Then they can special order it and get some solid instructions for installation. I appreciate that level of effort and it’s been consistent across many visits.
Also thy have a sick offering of candy at checkout…

The prices are slightly higher than your Home Depot or Lowe’s, but it’s the customer service that keeps me coming back. People there will take the time to consult you on what you’re doing and give you thoughtful suggestions (looking at you Bill!). It’s never an up-​sell, but a genuine conversation about what they’ve known to work best.
So many spring projects. So many questions. I know where I can get help and the stuff I need to do them!

Went there on advice of my local (12^th Ave) Ace when I had a part from my furnace with a stuck thread. Their shop guy took it, re-​threaded it, and I was on my way in 20 minutes. No charge. I can’t say enough about their good customer service and willingness to help someone. There is a reason why you should patronize your local hardware store.

Poor experience. I was already annoyed when I got there, because I couldn’t remember exactly where they were, and a Google or Unilocal search for «ace hardware» doesn’t show this store, because they call themselves Ace on The Fax. Whatever. I finally found them.
I needed a lightbulb, and I had a picture of it, with all the identifying info. I was looking in light bulbs and an employee came to ask me if I needed help. I said yes, and said what kind of lightbulb I was looking for, and then I just got a blank stare from the employee. So I awkwardly said «okay, so, since I’m not seeing the lightbulb I guess you don’t have it?» And he said «okay.» and I left and went to Denver True Value Hardware and got exactly what I needed.

I have been here a few times now. The place is always clean. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Sure you might spend a buck or so more on an item, being it is a neighborhood hardware store, but it’s more than worth it.

We recently moved to the neighborhood, and this is the closest hardware store, so we have been in the store countless times for odds and ends as we set up our home and garden. I love the size of this store: it is big enough that we can always find what we need, and usually have several options to choose from, but it is small enough to feel personal, and not overwhelming. The customer service is great: whenever I walk in I am usually asked if I need any help immediately. Some of the employees are more knowledgeable than others, but I have usually been directed to someone who can answer my questions right away.

Confession: I am not the type of girl to even visit a hardware store, let alone write a review for one.
I visited Ace on the Fax in the midst of a bathroom remodel. I was hot, sweaty, exhausted, and needed some help finding a few obscure (to me at least) items. Walking into Ace on the Fax was like walking into heaven (at least compared to the construction zone I hailed from.) It was one of the hottest days of summer and their AC was BLASTING. The store was clean, well-​organized, and employees were gracious and attentive. I was immediately greeted upon entering the store and every employee I passed as I walked through the store offered help to me. I happened to be here with my mother and the bathrooms had her full approval– she couldn’t stop gushing over their cleanliness.
Shout out to the people working at the window/​screen counter. I brought in some screens that needed to be re-​screened and had no idea what to ask for. They asked the right questions, showed me different screen options, and made a recommendation based on what was the best quality as well as what was most affordable.
I think I’ve found my new go-​to for any home improvement projects I take on in the near future.

Love this neighborhood hardware store! Friendly service. Knowledgeable staff. Anytime I go here I am in and out in a matter of minutes. They have a huge inventory and always have what I need. The garden center is also great. Need propane, they got it. Need to rent a tool, they got it.

I love the independent and community oriented aspect of this store. Most visits are met with very helpful people and a well stocked store.
I recently stopped by with some paint to match and was disappointed with the effort put in to actually match the paint. I’m used to efforts that are finished by putting a dab of paint on the sample for a clear side-​by-​side demonstration of match. This work was delivered with the comment «its a little darker». I was a fool for not staying and fighting for a better match and regret the effort I put in using the paint I was delivered. I should have refused to purchase, shame on me.
The store could do better by either working for closer matches, or making the limitations more clear. I’ll have to paint the whole room now. Normally not a problem, but this one has walls over 12 ft. high.

Super helpful people in here. They didn’t have one item I needed but they pointed me in the right direction to find it. Bathroom was clean, well stocked, and had a door big enough to make it easy to get my wheelchair in an out– a big deal for someone who uses a chair to get around from time to time. Thanks ACE, I’ll be back!

So impressed with this store! The staff was extremely helpful and knew so much about all the home improvement projects. They spent over and hour with me helping me pick paint colors and ensure I had everything I needed. They also provided extra coupons to increase my savings! Amazing staff and great neighborhood place!

Some people complain about smaller, non-​warehouse-​style hardware stores being «overpriced,» but I gladly kick in a few extra bucks for a spot with exceptional customer service.
The staff can sometimes be a little TOO attentive! Can you help me? Yeah, I’m headed back there for some nails… yep…they’re on that aisle back there… yeah, thank you… no, no, I know what I need… thanks.
But heck, I’ll take THAT over standing in an orange-​racked warehouse aisle, with «Customer needs assistance in plumbing» echoing overhead from the PA…
Pro tip: Become their Facebook friend. They hide coupons in their News Feed all the time!
