This place is great. Jay did a great job on my hair!!! Everyone is very friendly and welcoming and they have every beauty service you could think of. My hair looks and feels great and my nails are awesome too. The décor is awesome too and I like that somewhere (Salon Joa) on Colfax actually has parking that isn’t street parking. :)

I’ve been in the area for two years and had such a hard time finding a hairstylist I was comfortable with.
Well I love Salon Joa! I walked in and took a leap of faith with Mel. She has this awesome yellow hair, and I knew I had a good feeling about her! She took me platinum blonde and I am LOVING my new look! I’m Lady Gaga blonde, and she did such a fantastic job!
I will most certainly be back!

I took the leap to try this place… never heard of it and just one day i researched Unilocal and the amount of reviews and pics they have I was impressed and decided to give them a shot. Online booking system rocks… Melly was sweet and knew exactly what she wanted to do to my nails after a botch job at nail shoppe downtown. I realized after looking through pics that j spotted some of my own clients haha! They have been keeping this place a secret from me! I’m big on customer service cause I’m in The same industry. It doesn’t take much for me to know that you hate your job… these guys love what they do and you can tell when you walk in.

A group and I were visiting Colorado from Texas. I lived in Aurora for 3 years to attend Aveda Institute and so i moved back to my home state and town where unfortunately the pickins are SLIM when it comes to getting your hair done. A friend recommended salon joa. I called to see who was available for a Friday and Jay was.
I researched/​creeped Jay’s Instagram and was blown away with what he did. I went in letting him do what he felt right for my hair. The salon is amazing, the sanitation practices are on point (important to me), everyone there is so beautiful and NICE they make sure you’re taken care of. Jay made sure I had a drink, he explained the process and I feel like we may be best friends ?! I would fly out to Denver just to get my hair done by him. So talented and while there took the time to ask about me and my life. He is so great. See the pic of what he created with my hair!

Jay did my hair today and I’m looooooooovvvvee with it. He was funny, thoughtfull, nice and professional. I was anxious to trust someone new (to me) to do my hair; he put me at ease and then killed it with my expectations. Would recommend him and will totally use him again! He made me feel gorgeous!!!

He took such great care of me. Made sure I had a drink, magazines etc. He asked me to let him know if he was applying to much tension or heat while he was blowing. HE EVEN ASKED IF I WAS ALLERGIC TO ANY PRODUCTS! Who even thinks to ask that?

Roya is amazing! She was super sweet and friendly and listened to what I wanted. She even made some creative decisions on her own, which gave my hair a really edgy and personal touch. I will be back for sure! Thanks, Roya!

Me and my friend needed to get our hair styled for our cousins wedding in Aurora and she reccomended us here! The salon is beautiful and we got into our appointment quick. My hairstylist made sure what I wanted exactly and we had a pleasant conversation, she took her time and it came out beautifully. Thank you Jo!

Salon Joa has a sweet setup and friendly staff. Crystal cut my hair and she went above and beyond a regular cut. I really appreciated her conversation and advice about everything from my cut to my color to the best shampoos for my hair. You could tell she was very knowledgable as she asked a ton of questions about my hair habits. I’ll definitely be coming back again!

I read the reviews before me and booked with Cristela for a hair cut. I was running late and she still made the time to see me and give me a great hair cut. She made me feel appreciated and cared about her work. I will be returning :)

Getting my hair cut used to scare the crap out of me. When I was in my early teens, my mom would always take me to her salon in southwest Ohio — a salon where the majority of clients had grandchildren and their specialty was the «can I speak to a manager haircut» (look it up). Every single time, I left annoyed and disappointed that the stylists never listened and didn’t seem to know how to handle my very full head of ultra-​fine hair. Right before we moved to Colorado, I decided to get it colored. Needless to say, it came out… not to my expectations… and so I decided I would save myself the trauma and avoid salons altogether. For years I let my hair grow out, trimming and coloring it myself. I then went on to briefly have a hair stylist that I loved at a salon that I hated, but then I moved. Cue many poor experiences at other salons, and another curse to the heavens that people with scissors just weren’t to be trusted.
Here’s where Crystal comes in. I decided to take another chance, and was suggested I come to Salon Joa. Crystal is a *hair whisperer*. She asked me so many questions about how I wash it, how does it behave, how does it react to different drying methods, etc. She knew its ~secrets~. She even trimmed it in a way that adjusted for my hair’s natural wave — something no one has ever done before. Most stylists have just straightened it, and used a volumizing brush that leaves my hair very fluffy. So, once I would wash it, the salon magic would fade and it would turn back into a pumpkin (or, a very mediocre hairstyle). Crystal cuts my hair in a way that she knows I’ll be able to maintain easily. She also is really funny and easy to talk to, but always tells it to me straight if I’m not taking proper care of my hair. I didn’t really understand people saying «my stylist» until her.

I’m glad that I picked Cristela to cut my hair. She did a remarkable job!
She asked how I wanted my hair cut and she cut it exactly how I wanted!
She is a very easy person to talk to and makes sure you are pleased with the results.

Got a last minute gel mani here and they did a great job! Showed a picture of what I wanted and came out just like I wanted.

Went in to get my hair and nails done! I loved every minute of it! Crystal was so sweet and funny! She took very good care of me. I am so glad I picked her to do my hair! Melly did my nail :) She was super funny and willing to help my nail dreams come true!
Both girls were so wonderful! I am really happy with the service from beginning to end! I will definitely be returning!

I showed up early to my appointment and then was informed when I checked in that my hair stylist was running late due to a flat tire. I asked how long it would be and was told 20 – 30 min late, although she wasn’t sure. I asked if I could swap around my nail appointment then, and then all of a sudden my hair stylist was only going to be 5 – 10 min late. No apologies. I get that accidents happen, but you’d think they would’ve at least better acknowledged the inconvenience. I ended up having to switch from a deluxe to a regular manicure because I was worried about time, too. Maybe it would’ve been fine but I was not at all convinced they were worried about timing.
The hair cut was fine, but actually she cut off significantly more than I had asked. I told her I was growing my hair out so take off the smallest amount possible. she still took off more than an inch.
Nails were fast and efficient. My manicurist was friendly and talkative, and did a good job.
Even the weird accident aside, though, I’m not sure I could go back. It is not well ventilated and the chemical fumes made my eyes sting for hours after I’d left. I forgot how spoiled I was by my old salon.

Update– it’s only been 1 week and my hair color has completely faded (GONE!) and my nails look like crap. Very disappointing and a huge waste of time and money.

Just got home from spending a nice Saturday afternoon at Salon Joa. Found this place on Unilocal and made a last minute appointment this morning and was so happy they could fit me in.
Hair color by Felicia: she did a GREAT job! I felt like she really listened to what I wanted and took her time. My hair turned out with rich even color that was so silky smooth after she blow dried that she didn’t even have to use a flat iron. Very impressed!
Eyebrow wax by Felicia — great job.
Gel mani — I think the gal’s name was Pa. She was super sweet & also did a really great job.
My only negative feedback is about the pricing. I don’t mind paying for quality services, but I was surprised by being charged more than I expected when I got to the register. Hair color advertised on their website as $ 50 but they tried to charge me $ 60 because they had to use extra color? My hair barely touches my shoulders — it is not that long and I don’t understand why they tried to charge extra. Gel mani advertised on their website as $ 35 INCLUDING gel soak off, but they charged me $ 40 and said the soak off was an extra $ 5. I didn’t argue because they already adjusted the price of the hair color, but this was wrong. $ 40 for a gel mani just seems way too expensive. I’ll have to stick with my regular nail shops on CO Blvd that charge $ 30.
Overall my experience was really great though. Very nice modern, chic, clean, and comfortable environment and everyone was really friendly. I will definitely be back for Felicia to do my hair again!

The amazing reviews are not an exaggeration, this place is as good as it gets. Decided to try it after my best girlfriend mentioned she had converted to this salon, whose name sparked my brain as I had seen all of the amazing reviews on here popping up for the past few months. Right when I walked in I was floored, the salon is gorgeous, clean, and neat and has a really cool vibe to it. Much nicer than I even expected, and I’m pretty sure I spotted a full bar. Every single person I met in there was nice and friendly, and it was just an excellent reception from the second you enter. Roaya was doing my hair, who I had picked specifically after seeing her work on their Instagram page and she seemed to really have a knack for blondes. I wanted to go from dirty blonde, which I was so bored with, to something lighter and brighter, but golden as the white hair doesn’t work with my skin tone. I have asked stylists for this a million times and have never gotten it– I always end up the same color, streaky, or with that white platinum blonde. I also presented an additional challenge as I had been unable to get my hair done for a long time and had been substituting with Sun-​In, which I imagine is a stylist’s worst nightmare. I was one of the lucky ones in that it wasn’t TOO bad but definitely a bit brassy on top. No challenge for Roaya though, who hit the nail on the head and got me super bright and light without looking fake or overdone. I am so in love with the color she got me to, and I have to say she has the hands– you know when you’re getting your hair shampooed and when they massage it in it’s just beyond good? She’s got those hands. I will definitely be back again and again, and spreading the word to anyone that’s looking for a new salon!

Came here for my BRIDAL MAKEUP and up-​do. Jo did my makeup and another girl did makeup for my best friend and my mom. All of our makeup was FLAWLESS! I am so glad I paid to have my makeup professionally done. It was so worth it! I came for a trial and then again on the wedding day. Each visit was $ 100 — but this seemed to be in line with other professional make up artists.
The makeup photographs well, too. She uses professional grade stuff that won’t reflect off the flash or make you look like a clown in person. You look natural in person and in the photographs. Not many artists get that right.
Jo is so sweet! We chatted the whole time. She listened to what I wanted my makeup to look like and she nailed it! They also have a full bar, so you can have a cocktail, wine or champagne while you wait or as you’re being helped.
My up-​do was exactly what I wanted, too. 4 others got our hair done (just a wash and style) — we were all very pleased with the outcome.
I definitely recommend this place for makeup and/​or an up-​do.

Crystal anointed my hair with color and I love the results. I started seeing her about a year ago when I moved nearby and was looking for a new stylist.
She spent a good amount of time listening to me and checking out my hair before the initial haircut. I was really pleased with the results. Eventually I inquired about covering up my rapidly spreading get which I have never covered up. Crystal answered ask my questions and walked me through the process. I took the dive into hair color 6 months ago and I’ve been really happy with it.
I appreciate the friendly feel of this salon. Everyone I’ve walked in, I am greeted warmly and offered a drink.

This place makes an average girl like me feel like a pampered movie star. Not only that… they can ACTUALLY transform you into looking like a rock star if you wanted it. From unique, customized glamour nails, to hair styling and make-​up… they do it ALL. I really love the girls there, I worked with Melly. We had a group of 4 in for pedis, love the bench design. It was really fun, they have a bar and your service comes with a drink. Joa is incredible, she is an inspiring business person with a vision. Why can’t all salons be like this?
The interior is very chic and modern, clean, not overly cluttered, very great taste in décor. Extremely friendly personable service. High end service and amazing results and priced just right. Gottta love it!
