History

Established in 1980.

Dr. Malernee has been practicing veterinarian medicine for over 27 years. He started his career in veterinarian medicine at the age of eight sweeping the floors of the neighborhood veterinary office.

He pursued a doctorate of veterinarian medicine from Ohio State University after three years of undergraduate courses at Ohio State University. During his undergraduate years, he lived and worked at a local veterinary hospital to help gain work experience and pay for college. His work experience and good grades allowed him to cut his undergraduate degree short by a full year.

Today he has two offices.

The first is located in Delray Beach, Florida at the Atlantic Avenue exit of I-​95. His second clinic is located at his home in the west part of the Palm Beach County. Having the extra home clinic allows him to closely monitor hospitalized patients, allowing for better 24 hour care and avoiding the customary practice of leaving sick patients alone at night.

Wish I could give this doctor a negative 5 star rating. I woke up to hives all over my dog who was screaming in pain and suffering, we called the on call doctor and when we arrived before even asking what the problem with the dog is he asked where he money was, when we told him that he needs to call my mother to get her credit card information to cover any payments necessary he opened the door for us and told us to go somewhere else. I wouldn’t let this doctor touch ANY of my pets even if he was the last vet alive. Clearly he has NO intentions in trying to help a suffering animal. DO NOT BRING YOUR LOVED PETS HERE! And when we tried calling him again after everything he wouldn’t even talk to us on the phone. Absolutely disgusting behavior. Not to mention that I found quite a few more reviews very similar to mine about this doctor.

I only take my cats to him. They cuddle on his lap every time they go for their visit. his office is small yes but he is always on time for appts and I never have to worry about other people and their pets in the waiting room scaring my pets. He doesn’t believe in doing random tests and vaccinations just to make a buck! That’s the best part. He gives you great advice on how to keep your pet happy and healthy without being pricked and probed unnecessarily just to leave you with a grossly high bill. So far so good.

I moved from Miami to Delray a few years ago and took my pups to a vet in Boca who proceeded to load me up with unnecessary meds and tests for a skin condition of my dog. Not only did the meds not work (all $ 250 of them), but they also caused harmful side effects that were not brought to my attention in advance.
I tried Doc Malernee because he had been referred to me and was extremely pleased. He does not like prescribing medications, and has a genuine love for the dogs. He also identified the problem with my dog’s skin correctly on the first visit, without any expensive tests or medications. There are more than a few Boca vets who put $ first, and your dog’s health 2nd. You don’t have to worry about that with Art.
Even though I moved to back Miami, I still drive my dogs to Delray for any vet needs. If you truly love your pets, he’s the guy to go to.

I took my chihuahuas here to have their teeth cleaned and some pulled. I was very happy with the service. The cost was more than reasonable and I was very happy with the way he handled my dogs. I would def refer my friends and family to him. The one man operation is not a problem for me. The reasonable prices make it easier for me to take my animals more frequently if needed.

He has a «one man hospital» without an assistant or any staff. His fees are reasonable but you get what you pay for. For several months he examined our dog for minor conditions. I thought he would be capable of taking an x-​ray for the internist that would be doing an endoscopy; however, the procedure did not go well. He had to sedate our dog for the x-​ray When we picked her up she was in bad shape. We took her to an emergency 24 hour veterinary hospital in Boca Raton. The doctor discovered she had aspirated barium from the x-​ray. Dr. Malernee had no one to assist him with the x-​ray nor care for her while she was sedated. After several thousand dollars, we lost our beloved dog. If you want to know more details, you can contact me.

So shocked to see negative reviews here. I’m thinking it’s from the Boca types who need to have their egos stroked. Yes, he runs a condensed operation — that’s why his costs are so low. I’ve been to vets who have 20 techs running around in their millions dollar offices. The minute my dog walks into those places, he is whining, freaking out, and shivering. He RUNS into Dr Malernee’s arms when he sees him. And my kiddo is one heck of a character judge! And as for not caring — the day before Christmas Eve, my dog injured himself. Doc was on his way out of town on a ski vacation and turned around to see him. He took his time with him and always has great advice for me as a puppy mom. This is a very caring individual. I’ve been to the vets that have greeters at the door and bottled water and flat screen TVs. But really, all I want when I go to a vet is to have my kiddo cared for, to not be price gouged, and to have a place I can trust and come back to. The doc provides all that. Take fifi to a day spa if you want her ooh’d and aah’d over. Take fido to doc’s if you want a good vet.

Best vet I have ever been to. He is real animal person that truly is here to help your pet and not rob your pocketbook. He is honest and friendly and actually gets down on the floor with your pet and is not afraid of getting licked or jumped on. Great in times of emergencies and if you ever need medical records you simply request them online. He has a small cozy office and no receptionist but in return you get one on one time, you are not rushed or shuffled into a small waiting room to sit and wait. Yes you have to call and leave a message to make an regular appointment but you get call back immediately and you will never go to another snobby Boca/​Delray vet again! Thank you Dr!
