With clients located throughout the State of Georgia, Joyner & Burnette specializes in representing family owned and other privately held businesses. Many of them are independent insurance agencies. Others are engaged in manufacturing, retail sales, medical, bar and restaurant, and various types of consulting activities.
We also offer estate planning services for our business clients, as well as for individuals and their families. Our attorneys have extensive experience with estate administration and guardianship issues, as well. We are located in downtown Decatur, Georgia, the county seat of DeKalb County, which is just six miles east of downtown Atlanta, Georgia.
History
Established in 1992.
With a vision to provide the same quality of legal services as the largest firms in the City of Atlanta, John Joyner and Mark Burnette founded the firm in 1992 to put this vision into action. Since that time, Joyner & Burnette has provided quality «downtown law firm» legal services to numerous individuals and business owners at small town rates.
Founders, John Joyner and Mark Burnette, have over 50 years of combined experience providing legal services to small business owners and individuals who need assistance with their business activities, estate planning, or estate administration. The two partners have been given the highest rating of AV by their peers in Martindale Hubbell. AV designation indicates they are recognized by their peers as having very high legal ability and ethical standards.

John J.
Business Owner
Mr Joyner has over 25 years experience as the County Administrator and County Conservator for the DeKalb County Probate Court. He has served in this capacity in over 1,000 cases as executor, administrator, temporary administrator, conservator, or trustee for cases assigned by the probate court. Mr. Joyner has extensive experience in all phases of probate law.
In addition to his duties as fiduciary for probate court appointed cases, Mr Joyner accepts private appointments as executor, administrator, trustee, and other fiduciary roles.
He also advises clients who are serving as executors or administrators of estates and maintains an active estate planning practice.
Mr. Joyner is a former chair of the DeKalb County Bar Association, and has served as a speaker for Georgia Continuing Legal Education seminars and for seminars for the Georgia Probate Judges Council.
Mr. Joyner currently serves on the State Bar Fiduciary Legislative Committee.
