Specialties

The Wardrobe is a modern vintage fashion salon offering artful, timeless, and feminine fashions and jewels. The Wardrobe features California lifestyle collections for the woman in love with life, her family, her friends, and herself. The Wardrobe’s mission statement is to reveal greater inner beauty through outer expressions of color, beauty, and self adornment.

We are proud to showcase primarily California designers. 50% of our collections are made in California and about 50% are made overseas. We believe in practicing a sustainable model of business that supports the California economy.

The Wardrobe is the quintessential California style shopping experience, offering a color-focused selection of fashion, jewels and accessories. Our size selection ranges from 2 – 16 (Sue Wong through 14). We are proud to offer something for everyone, from granddaughter to grandmother. Come try in life at The Wardrobe!

History

Established in 1978.

The Wardrobe began as a consignment store in its first location located in Orange Court where Sophia’s Thai Kitchen is now located. After nine years, Dianne Comini moved it to 204 G Street. Originally, The Wardrobe was known for its used jeans and vintage items. Heather Caswell, the present owner, took ownership in 1988. By 1990 The Wardrobe started to become an interesting eclectic mix of new, used, and vintage fashions and accessories. In 2001, The Wardrobe moved its location to 206 E Street, right in the heart of downtown Davis, and began to sell all new clothing and accessories. It now features lines such as: Eileen Fisher, Citron, Cut Loose, Sue Wong, URU, Tianello, Sylvie & Mado, Owen Glass Collection, Sorrelli and Sophia & Chloe.
