Excellent fish tacos. The house-made salsa is also one of the best I’ve ever tried. Shout out to the guy who brings your food out, he really makes an effort to be friendly and welcoming to every guest.

Food isn’t bad, but their chips taste like they’re from Taco Bell. For a quick burrito they’re a fine stop.

We LOVE Taqueria Davis! The customer service is excellent. The food is authentic and delicious. I recommend the carnitas tacos combo plate. Yum! We always take our out-of-town guests to this fantastic restaurant. Keep up the great work Taqueria Davis!

Very decent Mexican food for Davis, would definitely come here more often when I get Mex food cravings. I’ve ordered the quesadillas and the tamales before and both were very good. Decent portion size for what you are paying, and there is ample seating room inside.

Taqueria Davis is hopping crazy busy right now. But the quality of food and service is still top notch. My chicken verde enchilada and shrimp taco dinner is simply the best! Where else can one get a wonderful dinner plate like this for less than $ 9? But don’t forget to leave a generous tip. These folks work hard!

This place impresses me every time I come here. UC Davis students, you guys should be so lucky. This is the quality Mexican food I used to eat lot of in various parts of Los Angeles. Today I had the special of the day whose name escapes me. It was a chicken enchilada with a salsa verde sauce with cheese. While not as good as the mole version, it was so delicious nonetheless. As always the place is tidy and the owner is super cool. And right next to a liquor store where you can buy your Powerball ticket!

I was really impressed. I normally hate taquieras but they are GREAT! No lard in their beans, delicious flavored sauces, and just a wonderful staff to boot. The only thing is they charge wuite more than average. Try this place!!!

Best Mexican food joint in Davis… Hands Down. Whenever my roommates and I crave Mexican food, we always choose Davis Taqueria. The place is average sized but can fill up during lunch and dinner rush. It is well worth the wait. They have homemade chips and salsa(two choices). The two salsas are my favorite in Davis. The green sauce is mild but full of cilantro flavor while the red salsa is very spicy and amazing for spice lovers. I don’t like beans in my burrito so I always order their California Burrito which substitute beans with potatoes. I have tried both asada and pastor and they are both very delicious. Each marinated to perfection, giving the meat a wonderful taste. They do not skimp on anything as the burrito is huge. Even as a big eater, one burrito will feed me for a whole day.

I haven’t been to Taqueria more than three times but I already know I’m going to start frequenting it immediately. Before this year, I lived in a different part of Davis so it wasn’t convenient to get to, and I didn’t know the benefit of going here. Their food is amazing — I absolutely love their burritos and enchiladas. In a weird personal preference, I really prefer vegetarian burritos to any with meat in them — I eat meat, but I just don’t like them in my burritos. I’m always wary of getting a veggie burrito from new places because they don’t always know how to compensate for the lack of meat — but the proportions in the burrito I got was absolutely perfect. As far as the place itself, it feels the employees treat you like family — I know sometimes having a hostess or cashier call you ‘sweetie’ or ‘hun’ can feel degrading or condescending at some places, but when they say it here it definitely does not feel that way. The few times I’ve been there, they’ve always been nice and friendly and I’ve never seen a ‘disgruntled worker’ having a bad day here — and I’ve come at a variety of times, from right when they open to pretty close to closing. I really like that they have you scoop your chips yourself, because they’re warm the second they hit the bag — I know some folks will find that inconvenient, but trust me, it’s worth it.

Worth the extra mile detour off the freeway. This place is muy authentic and the staff are SO friendly! Extensive menu with tons of traditional favorites and some unconventional items like the Chile Relleno Burrito(whoa, right?) Lots of seating inside, and a good diverse crowd at lunch time. Prices are very reasonable and the salsa bar is a nice extra bonus. Horchata was way too sweet for my taste, but really… what horchata isn’t too sweet? My bad. Thumbs up to this local biz that’s clearly putting lots of love into their operation. Legit as it gets!

Can’t believe I have never heard of this place until my 3rd year here in Davis! Wish I’ve discovered this place earlier. Came here for a quick dinner to-go on a weeknight. Even though the place was smaller than other taquerias in Davis, it was very clean and nicely decorated. The cashier who took our order was also super friendly and made sure we get the good stuff since it was our first time. We ordered the Aggie Burrito Bowl(with steak) and the Super Burrito(with beef tongue). Let’s just say that I usually don’t think Mexican restaurants differ all that much from each other, but I think this place is quite different(good different) than other places in Davis. The Aggie Burrito had a cheesy sauce that made the whole thing super flavorful and the steak itself was also really good(except the steak pieces could be bigger). The beef tongue in the Super Burrito was so tender! They also didn’t skimp out on the meat. Both plates had ample amount of meat was overall really good. Overall, I think that this is my new favorite taqueria. While the sauces for the chips were lacking(only two sauces), they certainly make it up with the good food(big portion, too!) as well as the clean and friendly environment. Before we left, the cashier mention to us about trying the taekwondo Fries, so I’ll definitely be back some other time to try that!

I love this place and I like the people running the dang show. First time walking in, right off the bat my family and I were greeted with a smile, service was fast and helpful and totally genuine. I mean this guy was SO polite and respectful, maybe being from the Bay Area I am just not used to this friendly service?!(Jk jk) Really intrigued by the«California Burrito» which had meat, potatoes and other stuff, but will have to try that next time. It was like 102 degrees and I didn’t have much of an appetite so I just got a couple of tacos. They were excellent! My family enjoyed their food, brother and sister had the vegetarian burritos(stuffed with actual veggies yum). Place was really cozy, will definitely be coming back next time I’m in town picking up or dropping off my brother from UC Davis.

Good food. Delicious flavors. Generous portions. Nice folks own & operate. Dining room is basic. Borders on a dive. Restrooms are filthy. My 2 course combo with salad beans & rice was mighty satisfying. Excellent chili relleno. Best $ 8.95 meal I’ve had for several months. If you can handle the cruddy ambience, the food is worth your consideration.

This place is in a somewhat sketchy neighborhood and doesn’t have the greatest parking, but what they lack they sure make up for in the food. Had to try this place since the Taqueria I live near on Covell has such bland food, and I was also disappointed in the taco truck in Woodland, so was craving an authentic place. This place is small, but clean. Shared a day of Mexican food with my friend where we stuffed ourselves and consumed the following based on several fellow Unilocalers: pastor super burrito, carne asada fries, and two ceviche de tostadas(shrimp and fish). I called and although there were people there it was ready before I got there. Pros Customer service was wonderful, the guy was super nice. The food was authentic and seasoned well, especially the pastor burrito meat was well marinated… also the bag for free chips was a nice touch. My favorites were the ceviche de tostada fish, and pastor super burrito. Also the two salsas which I mixed together. Chips tasted great, and the fries were crisp. I also like that they gave alot for the tostadas and separated it for transport in the container so it didn’t get soggy before I got it home. Cons(reason I took off one star) Shrimp was not fresh, tasted bland and looked like cheap frozen. Would have been better if they grilled fresh shrimp, but the rest was good. Also did not like that anyone could stick their dirty hands in the chips, sorry but cannot depend on cleanliness of strangers. Salsa was not great when they were separate, but mixed together was the bomb diggity. Overall I would return again because it’s cheaper than Chipotle, you definitely get filled up quite easily, and it is authentic Mexican food, most meat is grilled and you can tell the difference. Kinda wish I found this place sooner as I have my cravings for Mexican food. Definitely recommend this place, fast service, great tasty food, and nice people.

Best Mexican food I’ve had in nor cal that wasn’t home cooked. The owners are super friendly and take pride in their work. The service an ambiance is awesome. If your in Davis I highly recommend eating here, crispy tacos are arguably the best thing on the menu.

I didn’t even know about this place until my third year at Davis. It’s a small eatery a little away from the main central Davis(University) with very humble people. I ordered the Korean bbq meat on my burrito bowl and it was AMAZING. It’s not on the menu but you can request it when you are ordering. I will definitely be going here more often!

Excellent traditional Mexican food, excellent customer service. By far, the best authentic Mexican eateries I have been to in Davis. And the sweetest owners around. It is located just off downtown Davis, near 7 – 11. Don’t let this location fool you though. It’s like a hole in the wall kind of place. Parking is scarce on the weekends, so I really recommend going during the weekday, around afternoon/early evening. I usually order the ceviche tostadas, fish, or shrimp tacos and they are very tasty and fresh. The fish is not«fishy,» and tastes like how fresh seafood should taste like. Coming from a country where fish is a staple, Taqueria Davis passes my taste test. The seafood is well-marinated with a zesty lemon-lime marinade, with a touch of cilantro and minced onions. The corn tortillas for the tacos are warm and fluffy, just like the ones I ate in Mexico. Shrimps in the tacos are tender and juicy. They use fresh vegetables, salsa(they have their little salsa bar), beans, and many more fresh ingredients. Never ate the meats here, but a lot of my friends tell me that the meats are also of excellent quality. :) You want authentic Mexican food? This is a must try place. MUSTTRY. I would like to be a regular here, but my metabolism won’t cut it. :’( I will eat here probably once a week to get my ceviche fix!

Note: This review is based on the one meal we had here as we were driving by Davis one afternoon. Friendly staff, large portions, agreeable prices, great salsas — mild and hot(how come we could never make something like this at home?), and of course, awesome food. We had cheese quesadillas and two Super Burritos. All were tasty, but for sure, my husband’s Beef Tongue burrito was a clear winner. I am going to order this next time instead of the chicken I had. The kids also enjoyed the chips and the green salsa. The location is not the most convenient — it’s several blocks away from the central downtown area — but it’s worth a visit.

Years later, I still challenge anyone to find better mexican in the Davis area. Just had their carne asada super burrito and the meat is so flavorful, and paired with beans, rice, quac, sour cream. It just comes together so nicely. It’s too bad they don’t open on Sundays, but they’re a mom and pop and I totally respect that. But I’d lie if I said I haven’t gone multiple times on saturday, loaded up on a couple burritos just to keep my mexican ration full. Still would recommend the Taq.
