Had the fortune/​misfortune to have to bring my truck here twice this year for repairs. Great service! Both automotive and customer. They even gave me some Girl Scout cookies after my second repair was completed!

I scheduled with them to bring my car in to get an estimate on repairs. Then the lady calls me 2 hours later to tell me that all the workers are gone for the day and says she will call me the next day. So I said that’s fine, but what she didn’t tell me was that they charge $ 50 a day for «storage», which is basically my car parked outside in their parking lot. So I end up getting charged $ 300 for towing that they recommended and «storage» just to get an estimate. And to top it off my windows were left down and a lid cover in my car is missing. It was not placed back after they took it off. I felt like I got nickel and dimed by them. This place is a complete ripoff — avoid them.

AAA towed my daughter’s Prius in when it completely failed as she was trying to come home. Yurgin diagnosed a tricky problem — there was corrosion in the fuse box, making power to the computer an intermittent. He figured it out, test drove it repeatedly, fixed the problem, and only charged half an hour labor. I am down in the LA area, and was ready to be hosed over by an out of town mechanic. His competence and honesty made my day.

Kyle from G&R Automotive was very helpful and gave great customer service when our car had an emergency maintenance issue! I absolutely recommend this auto service!

on folsom boulevard in sacramento my car got rear ended by a stoplight by someone with either brake problems, or not paying attention at 35+ mph. my car inadvertently lurched forward and read ended a toyota highlander in the whole fiasco and my airbag in the driver seat deployed. i was freaked but not bloodied up. i was okay. the tow came and i knew that while i live in sacramento, i grew up in davis and this shop had NEVER ripped my family off. and it would be best for my car to be taken there.
aaa would only cover 5 miles of towing. that means i was on the hook for more than a hundred which in the situation was a bit of insult to injury but i wasn’t going to cry about it. but my father had called ahead. they were waiting keenly for my car to get there. when i stepped out of the tow truck a man in a black polo walked up and asked if i was alright. he noticed that the tow truck driver was ready to swipe my card for the tow job and he shook his head and said that G&R would take that bill. and it would be incorporated into the cost (which clearly neither me nor my family will have to pay because the accident clearly was not my fault– perhaps he knew that at the time) so he took care of everything else with the tow truck driver and i was brought into their office where water was waiting. i already had a call from the other accident victim and aaa insurance regarding the accident so i was on the phone a good amount.
then my family showed up. and at the same time it was as though they took care of contacting the hertz like that. before i turned around the rep from the rental agency was there with a car.
The question on my poor, frazzled, urbanite-​esque mind frankly was «can this be real?»
This is the kind of service ANYONE who’s been in a car wreck would want. people think small town life is for the birds well this is an example for my eyes that showed me that if i’d been in los angeles or seattle it might not have been like this. but here in davis it was a classy, thoughtful and discreet effort to ease stress and make the matters as smooth as possible.
My family has dealt with G&R for 20 years almost. i can’t say if any of this treatment was preferential. but i doubt it. i see the other reviews and clearly that’s what G&R automotive is like. i’m very gateful because it was such a relief after standing in the sun on the curb with bruises on my hand and airbag smoke not wiped off the LAST thing i needed was to wait in line for another 45 minutes. by comparison this was concierge level service and i fully implore anyone in similar straits in the yolo county area to go here. remember this if you’re in my situation and as long as you have insurance, tow it here. because their work takes a little longer sometimes, but they’re classy and immaculate. That’s all =)

My new (to me) Honda was driven into while parked on the street, the morning of the day I purchased it from the former owner. As it was still under his insurance, we worked together to get it repaired. I suggested G&R and brought it to them for an estimate. The former owner’s insurance company agreed and the work was done in a timely fashion and looked great. A week later I’d driven the car across the state. A plastic panel behind the repaired door came loose and started clicking when opening, while the mirror started coming loose. After getting back home (within 2 weeks of the repair!), I called to ask about fixing it. Their estimator/​customer rep said the warranty on work is not transferable. Flabbergasted and in a rush to get to work, I explained the situation about the ownership transfer and he agreed to look at it. After consulting the repair order on his computer, he said the mirror was a pre-​existing problem, but would try to fix it. Frustrated by his recalcitrance and getting to be late to catch the train to work, we argued. I felt he shouldn’t be trying to hide behind his no-​transfer policy. Here’s what I expected: «we’ll get that clicking door fixed right away, and although the mirror is not our fault, we’ll see if we can fix it for you». In the end he pushed on the plastic panel with his finger (!) and it stopped clicking (for now). Running out of time to get the train to work in the Bay Area, I asked to pick it up at the end of the day, but the argument degenerated into «if you leave your car here I will have it towed». For me at least, the adage about the customer always coming first didn’t apply. Beware.

I got into a car accident in Davis and Triple AAA forwarded me to this shop. I have to say this place lifted a burden off my shoulders. They sat me down, spoke to me about the process and what needed to happen. they fed me water and candy and eased all the anxiety + stress I was carrying around. G and R fixed my car very quick and I even had a rental car from hertz. They coordinated fantastically. The best customer service for auto repair. I highly recommend and give stars for this auto body repair shop. I left that parking lot in a new spanking red fusion basically!

I had some car trouble and AAA towed my car here after hours. The staff returned my call promptly the next day and gave an honest evaluation as to the cost of the repairs. Although repair was not an option with my limited budget and the severity of damage my car had, the staff was understanding and sympathetic. I would gladly recommend this service to others in the future.

I came here this morning to fix a minor issue with my car bumper. The reception was amazing; I was offered a free cup of coffee. At the end of it all, I was not charged for the minor repairs. What a big surprise this was for me. One beautiful and friendly auto repair shop in Davis. Thank you guys

i went in to have a severely damaged bumper reattached. dan told me i could do it myself and spent 15 minutes giving me detailed instructions even though he was passing on the chance to do business. where others would have taken the opportunity to hawk their own services, dan was completely honest and helpful. this kind of honesty is worth a lot in an industry where the consumer rarely feels on even footing with the merchant.
dan explained that i would need a new bumper cover and which additional parts i would need to secure it. he told me where to acquire everything and estimated what it would cost me. he said that they could then attach it but explained how i could do it myself quickly and easily. he even offered to complete the last steps of the installation if i could not myself. his generous help and honesty were refreshing, and i really appreciated his time and information.

After a minor accident, my insurance recommended G&R for repairs. From beginning to end, my experience with this shop was top-​notch. Great customer service, excellent workmanship and they even fixed some prior damage, gratis. I would return in a heartbeat and recommend them to others.

I was rear-​ended fairly badly on Russell, and after speaking to my insurance, took my car in. The workers were very enthusiastic and friendly, which I appreciated after that awful experience. They took care of everything for me including arranging my rental, and going through my insurance. The whole process was very smooth and fast.
Brought my car in on Monday and got it back on Friday! I was surprised at how quick they got it done considering they had to order so many new parts. I was pleased to have my car back to say the least, but I am giving them four stars because they never informed me on the update on my car. They called me at 5 pm on Friday to tell me my car was ready to be picked up. They close at about 5:30 so I had 30 minutes to fill the tank in my rental, and head down there. I’m the kind of person who likes to know things ahead of time and plan my day out. Even though they were fast, they never gave me an estimate of when it’d be done. I would have appreciated a notice a day in advanced.

I have been to G&R twice. The first time was after I was rear-​ended at a stoplight. My insurance company suggested G&R, so I went, and was pleasantly surprised. Not only was my car done faster than they’d estimated, the repair/​repaint was flawless, saving me a LOT of money over a brand new bumper cover (It was under my deductible, sadly, so my insurance co. wouldn’t help me with it). I was skeptical, because I’ve seen the respray work from other body shops… but months later, even after Clay Bar and lots of washes, the bumper looks just like new.
So, when I needed my front license plate installed on my Mustang, I thought of none other than G&R. You see, my Mustang never had the FLP bolt pilots drilled into the front bumper cover, and I didn’t want holes drilled. So G&R used my custom made bracket, and fabbed up a way to make it work. I’d never have been able to do it myself, that’s for sure, and I was only charged 1.2 hours labor, which to me is phenomenal. I was expecting longer.
I am not sure why Felix C. is so upset. Custom installs are just that… custom. MOST speed shops will charge 125 – 150 per hour for work. I suggest to Felix that if he thinks it’s so easy to install the front lip spoiler, that he should do it himself. There are likely other concerns that go into the installation. I also suggest that he bring his concerns directly to the very helpful staff at G&R instead of running to the internet to complain.
In reference to Ken L., the texting system has since been canned, because at the end of 2011, it was not in place, so they have rectified the problem.
I trust G&R with my Mustang, and I don’t give that trust easily (hence why I went back there for my FLP after my rear-​end collision repair they did).

2 hours and $ 160 to install a front lip spoiler? Are you serious? The only work necessitated is to drill four holes, insert the spoiler, and secure it with washers.
Complete rip off. Avoid.

Very nice looking store. Store reps are respectful and polite — for that they get the two stars. However, the work is slowwww… They estimate super fast turnaround, but then you have to wait 2 to 3 times longer than the estimate.
They also text you everyday to tell you the status of your car… very nice feature right? Huh… not exactly. Got a text telling me that the car is done, but I show up, and the car’s not even close. They blame it on an external company sending the texts… if that’s the problem, then why use it? Good idea but incorrect execution.
Oh, the work on the car looks good. Only time will tell if it’s quality work or just superficial. Think twice before coming here with your car — if you have time and enjoy receiving numerous texts with incorrect information, then sure thing.

Someone hit my front bumper and I called it into AAA. They said the closest authorized dealer was G&R. Took my car on in and the service was excellent. Due to work, my schedule is pretty crazy and Robert more than once took the time to call me numerous times (I was bad on calling back and picking up) to keep me up to date on the status of the repair along with working with me on a convenient time for drop off and pick up. Awesome service. Thanks!

I had a minor accident over the summer and since then, the fender on the passenger side of my truck has been pushed back and has made the door unable to be open.
This hasn’t really been that big of a deal since I mostly only drive myself, but my mom is coming to visit for the Thanksgiving holiday. I’m broke. Fuck.
I called G&R and they told me to come get an estimate. I drove over and only waited about five minutes until the estimator was able to see me. I told him that I wasn’t really interested in any body work, but I just wanted to make the door open.
He told me what I could do ti fix the problem myself. It’s not a pretty fix, but it’s done the job and I saved a bunch of money.
