Allegre Apartments

Maintenance guys are so freaking awesome! They’re really helpful, funny guys! They made my stay at Allegre great! I’ll definitely be signing a new lease here again!
Pros:
Plenty of parking, pool, hot tub, bball courts, close to bike path.
Cons: a tad bit far from downtown if you walk, quite a lot of bugs.

Allegre apartments has a good, clean living space, good quality staff and management and were able to respond to maintenance issues quickly. They even were flexible about maintenance hours and met my needs as a tenant. Would recommend.

My stay at Allegre Apartments was not pleasant whatsoever. My car got towed multiple times even though I had a permit! And then I had to wait until morning to get it, causing me to be late for class and I even had some belongings in there that I needed. Allegre is easily the worst place to stay in Davis at all — there was ton of noise, the stairs are high to second levels, and the management is terrible. Oh and everyone knows Allegre tows on a nightly basis. Don’t live here.

The three stars rating is titled «A-​OK,» and that’s exactly how I feel… its Ok. The location is close enough to campus and has a pleasant bike route. The apartment itself is pretty spacious and feels kept up! No bugs. ultra plus! The pool is clean and not so bad to chill at. There are 2 patios to enjoy in the 4 bedroom apt., plus one in the master. I don’t really count the master, because I am in the downstairs room. Oh, the downstairs room. it is right by the kitchen, so when people wake up, I wake up. that is exactly why I chose the room, but big mistake since I am not a morning person… I chose it to become one… ha! The 3 bedrooms upstairs seem really nice. Plenty of space in all the rooms. The kitchen seems to have enough cabinet space, but the fridge need to be XXL for how much we eat (not an apartment problem). Some people seem to really like the basketball court. I never use it. The maintenance staff is actually really nice. Side note, if this is your first time moving to Davis and your worried about finding roommates, then don’t fear the Davis wiki! I found mine there, and we all get along just fine;)
The reason for just 3-​stars:
–The laundry room and pool are usually not open until 3 hours after the posted time
–The laundry room is in major need of new washers and dryers (my roommates and I had to buy our own dryer, because the machines literally do not dry your clothes. Also, after getting the dryer, we realized the musty smell was not from hang drying our clothes. it was from the nasty old washers that don’t work either… Ok I am gonna get TMI. like my running clothes still smell like sweat after washing and undergarments are not clean. and socks still have dirt. I have taken up buying new clothes instead of just washing all the time. Yes, my laundry basket is super full. can’t wait to move out just based on laundry)
— The landscaping is just ok… I may be a snob, because I consider gardening a hobby. some of the plants look neglected. I don’t think other people notice.
–The apartment manager thinks its ok to yell at his dog at any given hour. It is a bit obnoxious, but easy enough to ignore.
–This may be obvious, but if you are a resident don’t park in guest. they WILL tow you. As a matter of fact, they will tow any rebellious parker. So obey the signs, unless you want to donate $ 300 to a tow company
–OHHHHH!!! I almost forgot!!! The internet service (instaconnect) that they provide with the apartment is awful!!! haha! Besides the laundry, the internet is truly sad. So, don’t consider that as part of the package when you move in… you neeeeeed to have a separate internet provider. As a matter of fact, don’t trust the «free» internet with any of the apartments. they all provide instaconnect and it just doesn’t cut it. I suppose this section could be a separate review for instaconnect only, but I felt it needed to go here since the apartment provides this and features it in the advertisement.
TLTR: It’s ok, not a bad price… the subpar rating is mostly from poor laundry options and the internet. I’d do it again I guess:)

My experience has been great at Allegre. Parking is covered, maintenance is always there when needed, and the bus stop is super close by! They recently started repainting the apartments so now they look nicer and newer. Perks about living in the area include Safeway, Kaiser, Teabo, RiteAid, and a convenient bike path that takes you to school quick. Dutch Bros is also a ~3 minute drive away!

Prepare to get your stuff stolen.
The apartment is more or less crappy but fine. The maintenance is practically non existent but they also don’t butt in that much. However the community is horrible. I’ve gotten my bike stolen despite it being locked (They *will* cut the lock). I have also gotten my bike seat stolen with it locked 4 feet from my door.
This is just me, I have had three other friends that live here either get their entire bike stolen or parts stolen.
Go somewhere else.

This is my first year at UC Davis as a transfer student. Being away from home for the first time was a big change for me, not only transitioning to a new school, but also a new social environment. I’m happy to say that my experience has been wonderful living at Allegre. They have covered parking, a study room, computer room, playground, and a pool! The management and maintenance were very accommodating and friendly. Our issues and problems were always resolved in a timely manner. Allegre is very convenient for those who take the bus. The M and W line take you straight to campus. Safeway is also close by, which is a plus! I can just walk to Safeway to do some grocery shopping and walk back to my apartment. It is affordable and a nice area to live in, I would really recommend!

I lived here for a year and overall it was a good experience. One of the most affordable apartments to live at in davis. Management and maintenance was very nice and understanding.
I’d choose to live here again and recommend.
Parking though.
You will get towed if you don’t have a parking permit. They need more guest spaces. It’s not like they don’t have room for them.
Also I didn’t get my deposit back after spending a lot of time and energy cleaning after moving out.
Comparative to other places, it’s overall a good place to live.

THERE’S BETTER PLACES
the apartments are big, maintenance was always quick, loved the walk in closets
but the fridge didn’t work, the pool was always dirty, there’s never parking for your friends, they kick you out of the pool/​hot tub at 10, and the manager/​owner sucks.
He’s so rude and unhelpful it ruins anything good the place has going for it. Its an OKAY apartment complex other than that.
I moved to a different place this year and am so much happier! Makes me see everything that could’ve been better at Allegre

I HATE MANAGEMENT BUT I LOVE THE MAINTENANCE PEOPLE.
You’re probably thinking «What? Aren’t they the same?»
I’ve had to deal with management a couple of times (the person who’s in the office) and whoever that person is, he sucks. My apartment requested new carpet (because it smelled like dog) and he said we’d get it and we never got it — so we go back like 1000x times and there’s a bunch of delays until finally, he was like «well ladies, remember that we dont HAVE to give you new carpet, we’re doing this as a courtesy,» wait wtf? YOU AGREED TO THIS ALREADY. Whatever. We never got new carpet.
Anyways! Maintenance wise, whether we go straight to the maintenance workers or call the office (we usually go straight to them because its faster), we always get our requests taken care of within 1 – 2 days. THEY ARE SO NICE TOO! One time, I had car problems, and one of the maintenance guys spent an hour trying to help me and he even gave me some of his water coolant. SO NICE.
I try not to deal with who ever is in the office but the maintenance guys rock (this review is all for them).

I lived here for 2 yrs and it’s been great! The apartments are pretty good. Management tries their best to help us if a repair request is filed. The management team is very nice and Jaymes does a good job. The pool and fitness area are a bonus and the location is convenient!

I lived here about two years ago and my experience was so fulfilling and wonderful! I lived in a three bedroom, two full bath apartment on the second floor. The natural day-​time lighting was perfect, along with the general layout of the apartment– it was spacious and felt more like living in a house as opposed to in an apartment!
Above all else, the management/​maintenance is definitely the complex’s best feature. I have had to deal with management/​maintenance in previous Davis Apartments where the staff is simply rude, unapproachable, unavailable and takes little care when it comes to being of service for their residents. However, this is NOT THE CASE HERE! Total opposite, in fact! Everyone is incredibly friendly and warm toward all the residents. The staff makes a genuine effort to get to know the tenants on a personal level while still providing them with their privacy needs. In addition, maintenance is very quick and speedy when it comes to repairs. They are literally only one quick phone call away which makes your life a lot easier when you don’t have to stress over fixing any potential issues on your own. The entire complex is constantly kept well groomed and feels very safe.
Also, I had nothing but POSITIVE experiences when communicating with management, particularly with the manager, Jaymes Latch. He not only made me feel very safe and secure while living there, but he is also a quick, sharp and empathetic manager who is incredibly understanding, very approachable, friendly and genuinely cares about his tenants. If I ever had an issue regarding anything, I felt comfortable knowing that I could count on James because he knew how to do the job quick and do it right! I would definitely recommend this apartment complex to anyone who is searching for a new place in Davis. Talk to Jaymes, his kindness and flexibility will leave you appalled and make the entire lease process SO EASY!

this is the worst apartment to live in!!!
1. it has mice problem. Half way through our lease (1 year lease), we heard shuffling in the kitchen. We keep our apartment nice and clean, so we were confused how a mice could have gotten in. We set up a few traps ourselves and called the office to bring in some pest control. Called like 3 or 4 times within a span of 1 and a half week. NO ONE SHOWED UP! My housemate even went to the front office, yet they keep saying «we’ll send someone there», and NO ONE!
2. Our current rent is a certain amount. and when we got the paper to renew our lease, they gave us a special «discount» which was higher than the current rent we’re paying. I just didn’t make sense to me to pay even more to live in the same place the next year! Especially when we constantly reported about our pest problem. Is this how you get your customers to keep staying at your apartment? By raising the rent for next year! Never heard of!
3. The parking. They work with a towing company and enforce strict towing. Even when my friends come and visit for a few hours or two, BAM! their car is towed. And to get the car back costs you 230 $$! For god sake, we’re all broke college students! Why would any apartment management, in their right mind, enforce strict towing where hundreds of college students live! We have friends visit us all the time, sleep over, throw parties! They say the towing is to accommodate their tenants! A bunch of BS!
DO NOT LIVE IN THIS APARTMENT! No doubt has the worst management.

It was my first time moving into an apartment complex so I knew there would be a lot of bumps along the road to moving/​living in this complex. But overall I really enjoyed my time as a resident at Allegre Apartments.
So we were told that we would move in at a certain date and time, but when we got there, the paint was still drying, paint tape was all over the walls and there was no fridge. Lucky for us our old place was still under our name so we didn’t panic and stayed at our current residence till they finished the following day. They were polite and gave us a day off our rent for the inconvenience,
From then on, my experience with Allegre Apartments was smooth sailing. When I complained about problems with my apartment, they would come within a 2 hour time window and the problem was fixed immediately.
The layout of the apartment is a little off but to be honest if you’re a college student living in Allegre you will make it work LOL!
They also have events such as BBQs and they have monthly news letters with the monthly birthdays (THEY DO CARE!!!) and updates about the apartments
Since I lived in the corner of the apartment complex, parking was competitive but don’t be lazy and drive an extra 50 feet to find easier parking.
Price was reasonable and especially since I went from a house to an apartment complex I don’t have to pay for water.
Overall: Great place to live minus the fact that they didn’t have my apartment done by the move-​in date they gave us. I would recommend this place to any UCD student because it’s close to campus and close to the «night life» in Davis

Alright, I live here, but I guess everyone’s experience can be hit or miss. (Almost) everyone I know who lives here thinks management’s the worst and they’re slow as eff. However, I’ve got to say that they’ve been working in a timely manner for my apt. We usually submit a request and they come either same day or next day. When we went to resign our lease, they took off the water charges and washer/​dryer charges for next year, so that saved us a good $ 70−80/month.
Parking: Allegre WILL TOW YOU unless you have a parking permit. That’s great for residents, terrible for your friends. However, late at night in the wee hours (think 2−3AM) it is IMPOSSIBLE to park near my apartment and I need to park way at the other end of the complex. Not cool. I remember I came back at 5AM the day of picnic day (like before all the festivities) and I had to park across freaking Cowell. That’s SO far away. Needless to say I was not a happy camper.
Mixers/​Events: Well, I did hear that management is throwing one this upcoming Saturday. I can’t make it, but it’s the first one I’ve heard of since Fall. They have been starting to give us monthly newsletters with people’s birthday’s and stuff. I guess that’s cool.
Scenery/​Layout: Allegre actually looks pretty nice. They’ve got random benches everywhere but the scenery is pretty cool. For layout, I think it’s kinda cool how most places have two entrances. I feel like the random benches aren’t really utilized, but they could be. The main reason why we moved here is because the 4 BR flat has 3 rooms of the same size, and I think that’s pretty good since most other apartments dont do that (and leave you arguing with your housemates who gets what room).
Price: Allegre, being in South, is generally more expensive than the places in North Davis. However, I think that it’s still cheaper than some of the other places in South (Avalon/​Lexington/​etc.).
Overall: Well, I resigned the lease, so that’s saying something. It’s not the best place to live, but it’s not bad either.

Do NOT be fooled by the nice exteriors of Allegre, the management here is unbelievably SELFISH!
CONS:
1. Time to sign the contract– oops, they just happen to mess up our time 2 hours before we were supposed to go in to sign. Oops messed up again. Great, thanks for the heads up. When we get there, we still wait for a couple hours.
2. Move in week was nothing less than hellish. Carpet was dirty and stained, things were not on their hinges, window screens missing, living room screen was loose, a key did not work, missing lights in fridge/​oven, no toilet seat or toilet seat cover, shower light not even installed (we were using a LAMP inside our bathroom for a month or so), garbage disposal was broken (this has happened to many people)… The list was EXTENSIVE. Our friends next door? Same problems. Our friends across the complex? Same problems. COMPLETELY unacceptable.
3. We were number 64 on the maintenance list (September). It took them 2 months to FINALLY come in for the FIRST time to fix some basics (December). Our oven light was fixed for the first time last week (February)…andddd we’re still missing a screen.
4. The design of this place is terrible. I live in front of the office where they have a basketball court, which cuts right down the middle of the parking lot. So hey guess what? If you pull in and there’s no parking space… you’ll have to reverse out into the circle full of moving cars! Same thing goes for the other side of the basketball court. The parking SUCKS here. However, I continue this in pros of Allegre #1.
5. Management: slow, slow, slow. If you tell them something, they will forget. Also, something shady: they offered to waive the washer/​dryer $ 30/​month for people who signed their lease the last week it’s available. Uh, an incentive for late signers? Hey guess what though– people sign the lease early get… nothing.
I would also like to know why they are always on a break? Everytime I want to go in to file papers or something, they always have a sign with an excuse up. It’s a «lunch break», «training break», whatever break. 50% of the time, they are NOT in their office.
6. Maintenance team — do I even need to say? We’ve submitted many requests for the same thing and some things are still not fixed. We are well into the school year, and almost done with Winter Quarter. I used to live in Sorrento and I got a new MICROWAVE in 1 hour once because my old one malfunctioned.
I see them laughing a lot in the parking lot, joking around. If you have so much free time– why don’t you fix my apt? –_​_​_​–
7. Continued on the obnoxiousness of maintenance. Hmm, if they run a jackhammer outside your apt at 8am in the morning, don’t you think they should tell you?
Also– more obnoxiousness. Remember that badly designed parking lot I told you about? Maintenance many many time have parked their little golf cart in the MIDDLE of the parking lot, so if I’m trying to get to the other end where there are actually parking spaces. I can’t…because they decided to block up the whole parking lot with their golf cart to probably fix something that doesn’t need fixing anyway.
8. Good job with repaving payments that look the same afterwards, and doing lots and lots of construction outside… when I’m sitting here, inside, with my maintenance requests not fulfilled.
PROS:
1. Oh yea– for all you people who are complaining about Allegre’s strict towing and parking rules. Please deal. I’m not a happy camper when I’m coming back to my apt at 1AM after a long day and there are no parking spaces because visitors have taken them all up. There is lots of street parking for a reason!
Seems like the only thing Allegre is good at is towing and enforcing parking though.
2. No bug problems yet, so not bad.
3. One of the cleaning ladies here is so cheerful that she makes me happy. She’s always singing when she cleans my apartment and after she decided to clean my entire stove, she attempted to fix our broken shoe rack laying in pieces by the door! What a trooper.
OVERALL:
Not recommended. I know I’m not crazy because all my housemates agree as well. Last year, I lived in Sorrento and the management was basically 6 stars– they would go above and beyond and fix everything in ONE day. I also wrote a review about Sorrento, and I would definitely, hands down, choose to live at Sorrento instead of Allegre and wished that I had stayed. An amazing management can really make or break your living experiences.
Note: I would also like to say that this is only a review, and I’m not making a definite general statement on Allegre at all. I’ve had friends who have had good, fast service from the management, but my house seemed to have gotten the bad end of the stick. Experiences will vary and I’m not discrediting those who have had great (or even average) reviews. I’ve seen Allegre give great service to my neighbors, and since that’s true, then I can only say that this management is very inconsistent and leave it at that.

The place looks pretty good from the out side. The management/​repair worker work quite slow though. It took them 2 months to fix my fridge door.
When they did come in to repair things, they seems to have decent customer service. The cleaning lady helped clean the floor and she even got on her knees and start wiping the floor when she see a dirty spot on the floor.
The parking lot is HELLA small. Almost every time you want to park near your house, you have to pull in, then U turn and go find some spot at some far away spot.
Rent is quite expensive, compare to North Davis but comparable or cheap compare to South Davis complexes.
Don’t seem to have BUG or Rat problem here yet.

Questionable customer service.
Wait 6 hours on move-​in day for them to finish cleaning the apartment. The carpet was still wet after moving in. Couldn’t move out fast enough.
The other review is misleading. Rent is not negotiable.
Used to be a really cute girl working in the office though. 1 star earned for her smile. =)

As a student at UC Davis for 4 years this is the worst place I have lived at. They day they told us we were moving in they were not ready for us and the apartment was dirty. We waited for at least 5 hours outside of our apartment with all of our stuff with our parents as they cleaned it. Then we had to wait for the carpet to dry.
We completed the inspection move-​in sheet and listed all the problems we found. The entire year we lived there and they did not fix a single thing!!! There were bugs in our lights in the kitchen, a missing screen on one of the windows, water stains from the showers, dust everywhere, stained floors, and we had an ant problem. AND the floors creaked every time you walked around upstairs. (They would not fix that problem-​and my roommate downstairs suffered the entire year)
We just moved out less than a month ago and received our deposit back. We only got $ 110 out of the $ 600. I DONT THINK THEY REALIZE THAT THEY INITIALLY HAVE US A DIRTY APARTMENT!!! we left the place how we found it. I do not think that it was our responsibility to fix all the problems that they left us with in the beginning. I tried to call them all last week I have still been calling and they have not picked up their phone or called me back.
This is the most unprofessional management that I have ever encountered in my life. At this point I feel as if the only option I have is to drive to Davis to talk to them directly but this is difficult because I have a full time job.
These people need to get their act together because one day they are going to have a big law suit.

I’ve lived here for the past year, and while it does look extremely picturesque, there are various problems.
First off, the walls are paper thin. You can hear absolutely everything, to the point where I have to ask my housemate to close his closet door (our closets connect) so that I don’t feel like I’m eavesdropping.
Second, management can be slow to fix things. The apartment above ours flooded and caused our ceiling to leak, and now, three months later, everything has finally been fixed.
Communication is pretty poor within the apartment complex, but the management is pretty nice.
Another thing is that there is dog shit everywhere. I don’t know why management hasn’t done something about the dogs. I understand that the complex is animal friendly, but the number of times I’ve seen people not pick up after their dogs is infuriating. I’ve stepped on dog shit twice now, and it just makes me more angry at Allegre.
Allegre is also merciless about towing. But despite how much they tow, there is still no parking. I’ve spent so many evenings hunting for parking that it’s absurd. There’s been many times where I’ve just parked across the street at Sharps and Flats and walked to my apartment.
I do love my apartment, though, because my room is quite large and I have a walk in closet, but because of all the problems that have occurred this year, I would not recommend Allegre to my friends.
