Food is really good — a little pricey — atmosphere is okay but could be better — place is below a gym.

Besides the noises from the gym upstairs this sushi restaurant was sub par. The staff ignored us, and the server interrupted my boyfriend when he was ordering. We didn’t get the chance to order half the sushi we normally eat. My dinner arrived eleven minutes before his sushi plate. My tempura was greasy and soggy, and the rolls I ordered were bland. It took so long for his nigiri to come out that we didn’t bother to try and flag down the waiter for more orders. The waiter dropped off our bill then proceeded to ignore us again as we sat waiting for him to take the card. Definitely not coming back.

This is a good place. There is plenty of parking. The fish was fresh and the portions satisfactory. I wouldn’t say this is a 5 star stand out but it sure met my needs and I would probably come back soon. The service was friendly. Text were quick to refill our water. They checked in with us to see if we needed anything else. The was also prepared fairly quickly. I think this place just lacked emotion. I guess I enjoy food when the waiter or waitresses are excited about their sushi menu. I came here for lunch with my friend. I ordered a chirashi bowl and a chicken terikayi bowl for my son. My friend ordered a special roll — California roll topped with avocados and looks like Panko bread crumbs. We ordered a pitcher of Sapporo. The glasses were not chilled but the bier was cold. Does that make sense? This place was ok. But there are many sushi restaurants in this area and this place would be at an average compared to the other sushi restaurants.

My hubby and I stopped in while the little one was taking music lessons in the same plaza so we only had about 30 minutes to hang out and have a beer. The plan was to order some drinks and appetizers and so we did. The only thing I really rate is the service, the ahi tuna poke, the bowl of rice and beer! –Service: Well it was fine; it wasn’t busy at all. Actually we were the only people there. –Ahi Tuna Poke: It was okay. nothing really special about it. We’ve eaten quite a bit of poke and to be honest, it’s probably our least favorite. The tuna was minced up together and didn’t have the fish texture. We are use to the poki’s that are still in chunks. not here though. –Bowl of rice: Well rice is rice right? Well yes. this rice tasted fine but for $ 2.00 for a cup of rice. they didn’t even fill the rice up to the rim. it was filled halfway to the top. what the??? –Beer: We ordered Sapporo. it was cold, nice and reasonably priced so no complaints there. Would we go there again. probably not. Why waste my time here when there’s so many other sushi shops up and down the street.

I stopped in here for lunch on a weekday and was surprised at how dead it was. Not just this place, but all of the restaurants in this shopping center. The parking lot is huge, but completely packed. Where is everyone hiding? Not in here — only a few tables were taken. I ordered a bento box — saba and tempura. As is typical, it took a while to get the saba, but it was very good, as was the tempura. Quick and friendly service, good quality food. If traveling through again, this is a good place to stop.

Consistently good food! Sashimi here is much fresher than other sushi joints in Danville. I would have given them 5 stars if the service was slightly more attentive.

I’ve been to Fish on Fire with family for dinner and for business lunches and it’s great every time. Variety on the menu is huge but so far I haven’t had one thing that wasn’t great. My current favorite roll is the 1822. If you like food that’s hot on the way in and on the way out, get the 1822 because it is righteous! Tempura is very good at Fish on Fire and all the non sushi/rolls items my family has had is very good too. Service at Fish on Fire is always friendly and on top of things so that’s a big plus too.

If you love quality fresh sashimi you must try this place. Similar to what you get at high end sushi restaurants in the city, but cheaper. They now have sapporo on draft!

Went with a group of friends and had a great meal. We ordered a plate of sashimi, salmon nigiri, seaweed poke salad, chicken teriyaki and a couple of different rolls. Everything was delicious. The fish is really fresh. So, not sure about the other bad reviews — but everything seemed really fresh to us! I’ll be back.

Tasteless udon soup. Limp salad. Nigiri tastes like it sat around a bit. Seems like they lost their quality control.

3.5 — Tucked away in a shopping center with other good dining spots, did takeout from here and were pleased with the portions and the quality. Mom loved the salad dressing. And they used real crab in the sushi. I rounded up because they were so nice while I waited, bringing me water and edamame. I’ll definitely return when I’m visiting my family.

This place is all about the fish. I ordered the ten piece nigiri combo and was surprised at the amount of fish toppings — each was at least a half-inch thick, and dwarfed the tiny piece of rice trying to hold it up. All the items were super fresh. My only criticism is that the rice was a bit harder than I liked — my definition if good sushi rice is loosely packed, and instantly disintegrated by the time you have the first chew. Here with the giant fish toppings you need a couple of bites! The tako(octopus) was well flavored but a bit chewy — they probably didn’t massage it for half hour like in «Jiro Dreams of Sushi» but that’s OK. Wife’s seafood udon was great — very large portion and they don’t skimp on scallops, shrimp, mussels and yes more fish! Their veggie tempura was also very good — fried nicely. Good to see them use Japanese sweet potato and kabocha squash among the veggies. If we do come back, I’ll probably go for the sashimi or one if their bento combinations.

Went here with my wife and friends and I wanted to give this a 4-star review, but had to bring it down to a 3. The service was very good and were patient with us as we dove through the menu to figure-out what we all wanted. I ordered the Beef Teriyaki dinner. They give a good portion of beef and they provide you with a side dish of Teriyaki sauce, which is a great touch. However, it was luke warm at best. I like my Beef Teriyaki to be served hot. My wife ordered the Sushi Bento, which came with 5 pieces of nigiri sushi and 6 pieces of sashimi. The sushi and sashimi pieces were good size and the fish tasted fresh. My friend ordered the Roll Bento, which came with a Dragon Roll and a Spicy Crunch Roll. He said the rolls were tasty and they were pretty big rolls. His wife ordered the Sake Sashimi dinner, which were good sized pieces. We also ordered an Albacore Lovers and a Shrek Roll, which we all enjoyed. The food was tasty and the portions were good sized. However, after they brought me my first cup of «hot tea», every other cup was again luke warm. I’d definitely come again if I’m in the area.

Just went tonight and it was amazing! I have tried a few other sushi places around Danville and have to say this is the best yet. The people working are so friendly and welcoming. It is a small place but we got there at 5:30 on Thursday and we sat down right away. We ordered the Alaska roll which is the best roll I have ever had!!! My husband ordered the James Dean roll which was spicy tuna and so yummy. My daughter ordered the IBM roll which was a California roll with tuna on top. I ordered the eel Nigiri. I actually ordered it twice it was so good. The sushi was fresh and so delicious. This will be our sushi spot from now on.

Lunch today consisted of sushi bento — nice pieces of sashimi and nigiri. Additionally, I ordered some spicy tuna rolls that were terrible… mostly stuffed with greens and fake crab(I guess that’s what to expect for a $ 1.95 add-on to the $ 14.00 lunch bento.) The soy sauce was overly salty, I had to put some drops of water in it to dilute it. As mentioned earlier this week, I’m on a roll(haha, get it? A roll!) with mediocre to very average meals out lately… this was another. Fish(was not) On Fire, turned out to be only lukewarm, definitely no flame. Service was fine. 2.87 stars.

I won’t be returning… if that isn’t enough here’s the details. 1. «Flies» in the restaurant, I convinced myself, they are only in the dining room, then reality hits, they are probably in the back too… sigh 2. Hot day, no air conditioning, I convinced myself their sushi should still be fine as they are in refrigeration units. Reality hits, warm tuna… sigh 3. It’s a Monday night dinner, asked for a 4-topper table even though it’s just for two, was informed that the 4 seating tables are for larger groups. I mentioned I would order a lot of food that would be like for 4 people, but got directed to sit at a two topper table… sigh(also., it wasn’t crowded, and then the waitress gave the table to another couple WTF, seriously, c’mon waitress, when the restaurant isn’t crowded, think about it… sigh). 4. Food arrived, ordered Poki Salad = good(only bright spot on the night), edamame = ok, 3 rolls, super california, titanic, and something else that wasn’t memorable, they were all TERRIBLE, let me say it again TERRIBLE!!! Sushi rice bad… rice not soft enough and didn’t have enough rice vinegar = sigh, warm imitation crab meat = sigh, warm tuna = sigh, warm salmon = sigh, cold unagi = SIGH I give this place 1 star for the Poki Salad, 1 star for the ice water, but –1 star for the seating accommodation or lack of it. Overall rating… sigh

I’ll give it a three because I enjoyed the meal. However, be warned that this is rather pricey for a casual dinner. The teriyaki chicken dinner alone is $ 12(teriyaki chicken, bowl of rice, small bowl of miso soup, and a small salad). That said, prices are consistent with most Japanese places. And the amount of chicken that came with dinner was decent. Most of all, it was much enjoyed by my son. I ordered gyozas for my daughter. I found them overly greasy(very odd for Japanese), but she enjoyed them. For myself, I ordered two rolls, one veggie and the Rock n roll. Veggie was typical(good but uninteresting). Rock n roll was good and the price was good. To be different, I also ordered the poki salad appetizer. I would not call this poki, but I thoroughly enjoyed this dish. It was very flavorful and had a nice spicy kick to it. I love the combination of seaweed salad and minced ahi. Best part of the meal. For $ 7, this dish is totally worth it. Poki dish was a solid 4 stars. Teriyaki chicken was 2 – 3 stars considering the price for such a basic dinner. Gyozas were 2 stars. Rolls were 3 stars. Good, but not above average.

I’m excited to have a «pretty decent» sushi place close to home! As a happa(½ Japanese) chick, I am pretty picky! It has been a challenge to find decent sushi in Danville, I will say! I thought Koji’s would fit the bill, but after a couple of disastrous to-go orders, I knew it was time to bid farewell. We used to love Kane sushi but there were too many screw-ups with our order that we gave up. I had pretty much resigned myself to the notion that sushi is not an option at home… oh YES we have our favorites elsewhere — hello Ozumo, Yoshi’s and Otoro in Scott’s Valley — but nothing consistently good here in Danville. I hope I don’t jinx myself since I have really only been here twice, but two consistently good experiences tells me this just might be our new regular sushi spot… I came yesterday with my toddler and had a truly(and yes I was shocked) yummy chirashi bowl. It was beautifully presented and chock full of a nice variety of sashimi over a normal size of rice(ie: not supersized). We also got the vegetable tempura, which was light, airy and tasty and brought a Lion Roll home for my husband… he ate every bite, so thumbs up! Now that my toddler specifically requests sushi, I suspect we will be here much more often in the future!

You may have different things that you might need when you have a bad day at work but this day was one of those days for me. One of those I can feel the ticking time bomb about to explode from stress if I don’t get away from people I work with and customers for one hour. All I needed was an hour to just escape the drudgery of dealing with the human race. This hour I happily filled with a lovely bowl of Seafood Udon soup and some succulent pieces of Maguro Sashimi. The waitress let me pick my seat. Which was in a corner by the front window. The only seat there and I had my back to the rest of the place. It was the perfect seat. I didn’t have to see anyone while I relaxed on my lunch break. For starters I had the Maguro Sashimi. It was all of excellent quality and had the gorgeous red color that makes me drool. Coupled with a light salad of the normal kind that is served at an establishment such as this. My main course was a giant bowl of Seafood Udon. It was a spectacular thing to behold. The quality and mix of seafood was everything I had hoped for. The best part of the soup was the Mussels. They were giant! Not only that but very good. I was impressed. I broke out into a sweat by the end of it. It was a monumental lunch to eat but I needed it. The waitress asked if everything was fine and it was more than fine. I’m bummed that the weather is so warm now because I would probably eat here every other day. Every day might be to much but for the first time in my life I’m looking forward to cooler weather. Or a stressful day to gorge my self into a happier mood. A big steaming bowl of happier mood that is.
