I am so happy I wondered into this fishing store. I ultimately wanted a new fishing rod and reel. I went into a place in Anaheim this morning to buy some hooks and maybe a rod and reel of the price was right. I wasn’t greeted, wasn’t asked if I needed anything, etc. I didn’t buy anything because I had no help from the staff.
I came into Hogans– what a world of difference. I was greeted professionally, asked if I need anything. The guy who helped me was patient with me and was overly helpful! I am an avid fisherman but I was out of my element going for larger game so I needed lots of guidance. I ended up buying hooks, an iron lure, reel and rod! It’s exactly what I wanted to get and I got it all there.
I am EXTREMELY satisfied with this company. I will absolutely come back for everything I need.

Cannot say enough NICE things about the great people in this store! I recently went in, with my 12 year old son and husband, and they treated us so well. We are all very beginners at fishing, and they answered so many questions, gave us demonstrations, and were so patient and kind the whole time! They helped us get our feet on the ground and start fishing… even tho all we bought in the store was some bait.
The store is clean, organized and packed with gear too.
In the future, I certainly WILL buy more gear, bait, etc from this great store!

Good guys work there. It’s a reputable business. The young guys that work there fish. They’ve never tried to over sell me and only speak from experience. A great shop. I’m happy to have them in my home town of 29 yrs.

I’ve been shopping at Hogan’s now for 3 years, totally happy with their knowledge, selection, and willingness to go the extra mile. Breck and Stephanie are aces, always helpful and willing to share information. Great place for the hard core angler or novice who needs help.

After reading great reviews from this shop I decided to make the drive and check them out, cool place with lots of variety.
I came in looking for items that I need for my local fishing (which they had) but the reason I’m giving this place a one star and never my business again. The reason? It was the the way I was profiled when I walked in. I was not greeted at all, but other non minority customers that walked in were greeted right away and approached by employees to see if they needed help, I ignored that and walked to the iron jigs rack and began to pick my selection, one of the young employees hovered near the reels which are next to the irons jigs and starred at me as if I was going to pocket some items. He kept an eye on me until I grabbed some items and walked to the counter, the entire time I was there, I was not approached by any of the two employees to see if I need help, instead I got looks as if I was a shoplifter.
I will never return this shop or recommend this to any other angler…

Showed up after a loong drive only to find that they were closed. I was fortunate to run into one of the proprietors who told me to come on in. She told me to take my time and was super sweet but I really didn’t want to overstay my welcome so I got what I was there for and quickly eyeballed their selection on my way to the counter. Prices are VERY competitive and their selection of saltwater terminal tackle is excellent (That’s what I was looking for) It’s clear to me that the folks here really go out of their way to help out their customers and I will be back shortly to pick up some more gear when they’re not getting ready to go grab lunch or something. Thanks Hogan’s, you guys are great and your kind patience was appreciated.

I love this store!!! You will not get better customer service anywhere else… Everyone working here has the «know how» and experience to set you up for anything from freshwater to Big Game…

Hands down best tackle shop around. Items are competitively priced and customer service is fantastic. I was most impressed by my sales associate not trying to oversell me on a rod and reel I recently purchased. We talked about what I expected and made a decision together with his suggestions. Very helpful. As easy as it is to purchase items online today I won’t need to do that with the prices and selection and service found at Hogan’s.

Best tackle shop in south oc, it’s the go to place to get all your fishing gear. Pretty good selection for the size of the shop. Customer service is top notch here too.

The only place I ever go for my fishing needs! They have pretty much everything you need to fish. They have a huge selection of jigs and lures and are always stocked. Awesome rod and real selection and the staff is awesome, they are always glad to help and always friendly. This is the only place you need to go

The people at Hogans are awesome! I went in there for my first time not to long ago as a rookie, not only did I not know what I was doing… I didn’t even know what questions to ask… but the people at Hogans were great help. I just told the lady where I planned on going fishing and that’s all it took! Everyone there is helpful and friendly! Not to mention their prices are fantastic which, as a broke college student, is pretty damn important to me. Definitely recommend!

Support your local tackle shop… Hogan’s is my go to bait & tackle. They have everything you need to catch the big one. They’re prices are fair and they won’t upsell you on anything you dont need. They want you to catch fish and they’ll get you set up with what you need to do it. Don’t be afraid to ask questions these guys fish and there stoked to see there customers reeling them in.

Hogan’s is always the place to stop whether you are going trout fishing in the Sierra’s, heading to Panama, or fishing locally in Dana point. No matter what type of fishing I have ever had questions about, someone in the shop has either been there or really knows their stuff about that specific type of fishing. I live in Irvine and still go to Hogan’s even if I am heading out on a fishing trip up north since I know my gear will be ready to go when it leaves the shop. If you have never fished before and are looking for a place to learn about it, skip all the big box stores and go talk to the staff at Hogan’s. (don’t let the old salty fisherman sitting out front scare you away, they may just fill you in on the secret local spots if you ask nice enough)

Its a pretty small shop with a lot of staff and a lot of fishing stuff. much better selection than walmart and big 5.

I LOVE Hoggans! I just learned to fish this year and love it! The entire staff is super knowledgable, super patient and loves helping people. Even me. I have been super thrilled with all the rods and reels that I have purchased! They have a broad variety of products-​especially pretty colors!
