Dana Point Endodontics is the endodontic specialty practice of Dr. Daniel J. Boehne. We provide world class endodontic care with compassion and integrity. Our practice is equipped with state of the art technology including cone beam computed tomography, surgical operating microscopes, digital radiographs, apical negative pressure irrigation, and more. The scope of endodontics includes the diagnosis of dental pain, vital pulp therapy, root canal therapy, root canal retreatment, apical surgery, emergency dentistry, and endo-​restorative procedures.

History

Established in 2014.

Dr. Boehne has been practicing in south Orange County since 2004. Dana Point Endodontics is the new state of the art endodontic specialty practice that Dr. Boehne opened in 2014.

Business Owner

Dr. Boehne is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics. A native of Dana Point and graduate of Dana Hills High School, he takes pride in providing world class endodontic care for his local community. He is faculty in the section of endodontics at UCLA, and maintains hospital privileges at the VA Hospital in Long Beach. A passionate educator, he co-​created «Endodontic Technique», which is a DVD that serves as the foundation for endodontic education at UCLA. He is the co-​author of the new edition of «Best Practices in Dentistry: Avoiding and Treating Complications». Above all, Dr. Boehne prides himself on caring for his patients and has a passion for saving natural teeth that others may have given up on. His undergraduate Alma Mater UCI presented him with the «Distinguished Alumni of the Year Award» in 2009 for his contributions to education, dentistry and philanthropy.

I ended up needing 4 root canals over the past couple of years and thankfully was referred to Dr. Boehne. Before coming to Dr. Boehne I was terrified of this procedure, but now it’s not a big deal. He asks a lot of questions and takes time to see if a root canal is really needed or if a more conservative solution can be found first. The actual procedure is painless (just a pinch for the anesthetic, and some time in the chair).
I like that he tells stories and thoroughly explains everything so you really feel like you’re in good hands. I wouldn’t go to anyone else. My dentist told me that his work looks great and I haven’t had any problems. Highly recommended!

I had the toothache from hell the other day. Worse pain than after my many c-​sections, dude, I was dying. I made the painful decision to have all my teeth removed and put dentures in.
I went to my regular dentist and he talked me out of Plan A, then he referred me to Dr. Boehne. Time for a root canal! (Hey, at least I got to miss my 2 o’clock meeting to go over TPS reports.)
Dr. Boehne’s staff worked an early Christmas miracle for me and got me in the same day. I was super happy about that, but I also cried big soggy tears during the two mile drive to his office. I was dreading the cost. «Sorry kids, Santa skipped our house this year because mommy got a root canal instead. Better luck next year!»
I walked in and was greeted by Dr. Boehne’s wonderful receptionist. Paperwork was minimal and super easy: Are you in pain? YASSSSS KWEEN.
Then the skies opened up and the Bright Light of Jesus descended into that waiting room surrounded by a flock (herd?) of angels playing harps and violins: DR. BOEHNE IS IN-​NETWORK FOR METLIFE. Yay, kids, Christmas is on again!
The doctor took the time to explain things to me, he successfully got me numb af (didn’t feel a thing), and was communicative during the procedure. His assistant was also amazing. It was the BEST ROOT CANAL EVER. I’m not joking— It was less painful than a filling. I was shocked. This doctor is legit, people. Go get a root canal right now!
Two days later and I no longer have shooting pain and hot/​cold sensitivity. I can almost chew on that tooth again… No pain, just a little residual discomfort from the inflammation I had before.
THANK YOU, Dr. Boehne! I will recommend you to everyone for all the things! Okay maybe just for endodontical things. (Did I just make up a word?)

After seeing a different endodontist for nearly two years, and getting nowhere with my tooth issues, I decided to visit Dr. Boehne. From the first phone call with Chanel, to the visits with the doctor and staff, I knew I was in good hands. The staff care about you, make it a pleasure to visit (what?!), and are really good people to boot. This office is situated near the harbor, but it feels like it’s in a small town because of the care and kindness shown to all patients. Way to go, Dr. Boehne! I’ve already recommended you to several friends.

Dr. Boehne and his staff were nothing but amazing.
I was in a lot of pain but could not afford my portion of whatever my insurance wouldn’t cover. He offered to get me done and pay him in installments if that would help me. So naturally YES I opted for that.
He explained everything so well through out the whole procedure. He also assured me that it would be as painless as possible. I’ve had another root canal before at another dentist and it was not a pleasant experience. This was nothing but.
To top this all off Dr. Boehne and his staff stayed late just to get me done.
Jack (I believe that was his name) the dental assistant told me that they were there for the patients and that they really care about us. You know how many times I’ve heard that and have not felt that way?! Tons!!! This is one of the few times that I felt that this experience was genuine. I really felt like they cared about me and that they take pride in what they do.
I hope I don’t have to get a root canal again lol but if I do I will definitely come back here.
I will recommend Dana Point Endodontics to everyone!

I have been to see Dr. Boehne several times. I have had more root canals then I can count but never have I had a Dr. that was as caring and informative as Dr. Boehne. I know exactly what to expect when going in to see him. He explains absolutely everything and is as pain-​free as I have ever experienced. I will never go to anyone else! I know that there will be more root canals in my future but knowing that I have Dr. Boehne to go to makes it so much easier.

I had to have an emergency root canal and was referred to him. He and his staff were awesome. His office was not what I was expecting, but a comfortable and kick back feeling. Maybe it was his pictures of the surf. Totally appropriate for his location. The modern equipment made it possible for him to show me EXACTLY what was going on in my mouth and what he was going to do.
The process was really painless. I never thought I would say this for a root canal but it was a good experience. The doctor walked me through everything and spent time past closing hours to get me up and running. Thank you and your staff for everything.

If you’re going to be unfortunate enough to have a root canal, you couldn’t be in better hands and a prettier setting than Dr. Boehne’s Dana Point office. I had to have emergency dental work after cracking a tooth to the bone and after a call from my dentist, Dr. Boehne squeezed me in. He was quick, polite, gentle and professional. He described the procedure he needed to do, the possible ramifications and post-​treatment options and performed my partial root canal painlessly. He even dropped off the images from the procedure to my regular dentist’s office so they would be there for my follow-​up. I would definitely go back if I ever (unfortunately) had to and highly recommend this service.

Dr. Boehne did my Root Canal today and not only was he very attentive to all of my comfort needs but he did a fantastic job. Very little pain during the procedure and I’m already feeling better (other than normal gum soreness) 3 hours later. Highly recommend him and his staff.

I was a patient at Dr. Bohne’s last office and had such a good experience I wanted to update my review to the new office. Here is my prvious review:
No one looks forward to a root canal but, with that said Dr. Boehne and staff are as good as it gets. This was my third experience with a root canal and my first experience which Dr. Boehne. Wow, what a difference! I was so impressed with the time that Dr. Boehne spent explaining the procedure and my options. He never spoke to me like I was an idiot or used super technical terms that you would never truly understand.
It is obvious that they truly care about a patient’s comfort and put the time in to ensure your trust. I can’t say enough good things about this office and will only use them in the future.

I had a tooth that had been bothering me for close to a year. I figured I’d better do something about it before something bad happened. After searching the web and asking people where I should go to get this fixed, Dr Dan responded to one of my facebook messages from me asking where to go to get this root canal done. I knew Dr. Dan from growing up surfing. I knew he was a dentist but I had not been in touch with him for a while.
I am not a big fan of drills and needles and had never had a root canal in my life. I was not exactly excited to sit in the chair but when I got to Dr. Dans office I saw how clean and nice it was in there and the friendly staff. Dr. Dan went over what he was gonna be doing and I felt a lot more at ease.
I sat in the chair for a little more than an hour and I was up and out of their, I did not experience any pain from the drilling, My jaw hurt a bit because i had to keep it open for a long time but i did get a break to rest it… 1 visit and I was done. I was back to normal by the next day and my tooth was like new again. I highly recommend Dana Point Endo.
I drove from Carlsbad to see Dr. Dan in Dana Point. When you are dealing with your teeth and your health I will never cut corners or look for some cheap alternative like going to mexico, its not worth the risk. Dr. Dan is fair and you can rest assure that you are going to be taken care of by the best.

So, getting a root canal is not fun by any stretch of the imagination. BUT, if you’ve gotta do it, you might as well go see Dr. Boehne, because he and his staff are awesome!
I was referred here by my dentist after I had been experiencing lots of pain in one of my filled molars for a couple weeks. I had never had a root canal and was not looking forward to it in the least, but Dr. Boehne put me totally at ease. The staff was super friendly, and Dr. Boehne went through my x-​rays with me in detail and explained exactly what the problem was in terms that I could understand.
After my consultation, I was able to schedule the root canal for the very next day. The staff were super friendly, Dr. Beohne explained the whole procedure in detail, and consistently checked with me throughout to make sure I was comfortable. Afterwards, he took the time to again explain exactly what was done and gave me detailed follow-​up instructions.
Finally, the receptionist was awesome and explained exactly what my insurance would cover and why, and what I would need to pay. All in all, the whole experience was very pleasant, and I am SO happy to be able to chew comfortably again! :)

I had the misfortune of recently needing 2 root canals (on separate teeth) within 3 days of each other. Based on my experience, I would highly recommend seeing Dr. Boehne and I will most definitely return if I ever need any Endodontics work in the future.
I get anxious every time I hear the words root canal (like most people I assume) because of a previous experience with a root canal procedure years ago. During my first ever root canal, I wasn’t completely numb and felt pain throughout the entire procedure. I was crying and the doctor just kept telling me she was almost done the whole time. However, this was a non-​issue with Dr. Boehne. I was completely numb and pain free throughout the whole procedure (didn’t even feel the needle when he was giving me the anesthetic… amazing).
I really appreciated the fact that on both days when I came in to see Dr. Boehne, I was the last patient of the day for him and after it was determined that a root canal was necessary, he was more than happy to stay and do the procedure right on the spot. It was wonderful not having to go home in pain and wait until my next appointment to get some relief. I also appreciate that he took his time with me and I never felt I was being rushed out. He is extremely patient and makes sure to answer any and all questions before proceeding. He went over my x-​rays with me and thoroughly explained the physiology of the tooth and what could be causing the pain. Dr. Boehne is very professional, friendly, and compassionate.
For anyone fearing the dreaded root canal procedure, I highly recommend everyone needing an Endodontics specialist to go see Dr. Boehne. You will be in good hands and won’t regret it!
