Came here for the first time and Dr Chau was amazing. Didn’t not wait very long after my appointment and the staff was very friendly. Great first experience!

WESTLAKE VISION CENTER OPTOMETRY in Daly CIty: Worse place to ever go if you need any vision care or optical needs. Patient file records are all over the place; patient personal information can be heard by anybody sitting nearby; poor follow up with patients; lack of call backs if you need to schedule or pick up optical materials; staff extremely unprofessional both in appearance and handling of patients; hidden expenses told AFTER your appointment; misplaced records, orders, etc… the list goes on and on. Not sure who is staff and who are patients! Seriously, would you allow somebody wearing a crop top, a nose and brow ring with hair dyed green, pink and blue who just sits there looking at her cell phone fit YOU with glasses… DON’T THINK SO! If I could, I would do a major over haul!

They closed early for NYE but ANITA squeezed me in knowing I had my annual health care spending to use up by today! Good eye for what works for your face. Good selection for Asian bridges. Sierra was very helpful and patient as well! I have been coming three years.

Terrible service. Visitors are ignored. Rude, listless staff. Products suck. Don’t dare bring problems to them. They disclaim all responsibility. And stick you with the bill.

Do not come here. It is seriously the worst customer experience I have received. They don’t know how to help their customers or listen. I wanted to get glasses with the best lens for my prescription with my insurance. I was very clear what lens I wanted and what frame I wanted. I wanted crizal alize lens with hi index 1.74 Lens with polish. They told me it would take about 2 weeks. No problem. I got a call saying my glasses are done about 2 weeks later. When I got to the store, I looked at the glasses. The lens were not polished. When I addressed it to the person dispensing my glasses, she told me it was a matte polish. I work in optics, there is no such thing. It contridicts itself in the description. She lied to my face and said she will change it but it would take ANOTHER 2 weeks. I was very unhappy where I told her she will rush the order because it is not my fault that there was a mistake on the order and then you lied to me. Then a week later after picking it up, I found the embellishment on the left side was missing after I got home. Shouldn’t you check on the glasses to make sure it’s perfect before handing it to me? Then after I called them to make sure they order a new frame, they gave me sass on the phone. They said it would take another 5 to 7 buisness days. Im truly upset that it will take 4 weeks to get the glasses I was excited about. Maybe even more. I would give it 0 stars if I could.

Exorbitant prices and amateur staff; will not be coming back.
I had a prescription and came here to buy glasses because they’re an in-​network provider. I thought that meant it would be cheaper — boy was I wrong. After all was said and done, my glasses ended up costing me over $ 100 more from this in-​network shop than if I had bought them myself online without coverage.
And, to top it off, it turns out the clerk filed the insurance claim incorrectly, so I got another bill for $ 30 after the fact. This place is the worst.

Never coming back here again. I liked them before but after this once incident I am never going back to them. I haven’t reached them for my appt scheduled for today and I got the most rude receptionist ever. I had a death in my family the day of my appointment, last thing on my mind is this place. I get a call saying its 4:50 your appt was for 4:40. I told her I had a death in the family. She said oh call us to cancel 1 day in advance!!! Like wtf!!! Seriously. No compassion or humanity from their staff. Never coming here again. You lost a loyal customer !

the glasses here are cute but the service was really bad, waited for 4 hours to get help. wanted to get some glasses and try some on with my sibling and a worker doesn’t even provide us any service.

I need reading glasses… simple right? I Dont need an exam because i just had One done with my eye lazer doctor.Dr. Simon in Foster City. He said i need reading glasses and he sugested to just buy them at walgreens or costco he told me To get +1.25 no big deal right… I Dont have Insurance so i wanted To get custom made frames For my reading glasses because i Dont like the ones I’ve seen at Walgreens or Costco. This place tells me that i need an exam which i Dont want because i Dont want To Pay For it. I just had it done somewhere else. I just want To pay And choose the frame for my reading glasses this place says To me that they need a RX after i told them its +1.25 they said its against the Law Without a RX??? Really? Its not like they are going To do surgery on me or anything… Do they think Im going To sue them or something if my reading glasses Dont work!!!&$@ i walked out i guess they Dont want my money here.

My Husband had an appointment with Dr. Rosanna Chen for annual eye check up. The front desk reception was smooth and easy.
As far as Dr. Chen is concerned, she is a great doctor. She took her time to analyze and do the required tests. she answered all our queries too pleasantly.

Because of the staff here, I didn’t return to pick up my contact lens prescription, or go to my follow appointment (though I paid for it)! I’ve never dealt with people so impossible to communicate with. I ordered glasses through them, and though I understand that I had mine special ordered, I returned after a couple of months of waiting to be sold they were «back ordered indefinitely». That’s fine, this stuff happens, but they refused to refund my money. I honestly don’t think they have a good selection of ANY frames so I didn’t want to exchange. My glasses finally came, but I waited 30 minutes every time I came in the check on them (which was multiple times).

I opted to go somewhere where my insurance wasn’t even accepted in order to never deal with the staff again. I’m sorry for the bad review, but having spent an additional $ 100 because of bad service I felt it was necessary.

My first time here and I love Dr. Chen! She’s fast, smart, and very nice! I felt very comfortable here. Anita and Nicole assisted me on finding my glasses for me, they smile and they are very informative! These three are stars! The rest of the staffs don’t seem that great that i’ve encountered so far, but that’s okay! As long as these two are still there, I’m VERY happy!
side note:
1. service is a bit slow, come when you have all the time in the world.
2. they disinfect their machines! that’s a +80 brownie points!!! (i’m not a complete germaphobe, but seeing people catching things like measles is already a no no)
3. some outside brand frames price were doubled! Beware. Ive checked every trusted site there is.

2 stars for shipment of the eyeglasses. took more than 3 weeks. if i knew it would take more than 3 weeks, i would’ve gotten my glasses out of network.

If you have VSP insurance, and are looking for a great selection of their approved frames — this is a good option. The provider who gave me my eye exam was wonderful!
The only problem is when it comes to ordering your contacts/​frames — they are a bit sneaky. I chose a nice pair of frames that were $ 250 (my VSP plan covers $ 130 + $ 20 for being one of their selected brands), so I was thinking $ 80 — great! However, the lady told me that my prescription was too high to go with the normal thickness, and I had to pay $ 224 for thinner lenses. What?!
I added anti-​reflective coating ($ 80) and the total was around $ 330. That is crazy! I said «woah… that is a lot.» Then, all of a sudden, she remembered another option for the lenses that was only $ 30. Where was that when we were laying out the options 2 minutes ago?
Very sneaky. My advice is to make sure that you are on your toes about cost and make sure they are giving you all the available options.

This place has a wide rage selections of eye wear. A bit pricey for fancy brands but if you know someone who works here they can give you a friendly discount. Service is 4stars. Most staffs are helpful and knowledgeable. They will give you all the possible options so you can save $$ and get a better deal from your insurance. Make sure to look for Janice she’s really super nice and friendly. :)

First time buying spectacles and the experience was great. The staff is nice and on point, I will be back again when it is time for new or just a check up for my glass wear.

Getting your eyes checked out n finding the right spectacles beats putting on beer goggles any day. I mean have you ever used your beer goggles? Results aren’t the best. To ensure that what I see is what I get, I entrust my vision to Westlake Vision Center.
So far, every time that I’ve needed anything, the staff has been above n beyond. I don’t know how many times Debbie has picked up my calls for something urgent I needed. Then there was Pauline who was always a sweetheart assisting in any way possible. She was also quite the fashion police when it came to picking out frames… She definitely knew her brands, designers, n styles that would suit a person best. I’d place my bets on her to help me get a new look that would land a hot date. Needless to say, I’m taken.
Dr. Yamata has always been the kind of guy that seems a little nonchalant… After all its just another day at the job for him. I’m sure he brushes his shoulders at the closing of each day. Don’t let his chill n cool demeanor lead you to believe he’s not doing much. He actually takes the time to follow up n do extra check ups to be sure he is giving the right diagnostics n prescriptions. He cares about his profession, advice, n educated opinions as much as he cares about his reputation n service to his clients.
All these years of being serviced by Westlake Vision Center has earned them my trust. I’ve been to other optometries but none that ever got my prescription right for my astigmatism. Easy to tell for someone who wears contacts… It’s just as good as wearing beer goggles when they get it wrong. I’ll take my chances here any day. For that, they surely earned my 5 stars.

Dr. Chen is professional, thorough, and great with kids! She really takes the time to answer any questions you have. The staff is great, especially Nicole, who’s very attentive and patient while my daughter picks out her new prescription glasses. Overall a great experience. Will recommend to friends and family.

Great Doctors here, very high tech equipment, good selection of glasses to choose from. Staff are happy to help, fit you in for a glasses adjustment, spend the time to help you find and or pick out glasses. Great office to go to!

Over priced. Our insurance covers $ 120 towards contacts. My husband paid $ 205 out of pocket on top of the $ 120 they charged our insurance. In other words, they charged $ 325 for the exact contact lenses we normally purchase online for $ 138 (and that’s without any insurance). Absurd. When I found out they charged him this outrageous amount, I called to cancel the order (20 min after he left his appt). The lady said «Sorry, it’s already in the mail. Can’t cancel it!»
This will be our first and last visit here.
Since then I have been to Dr. Holland (at the eye center in Macy’s). I had the exact same brand of contacts and the same insurance coverage as my husband & I paid $ 68 for an exam & contacts.
Clearly there are much better options just minutes away from this place.

Dr. Chen is a great optometrist. She’s one of the two reasons why I keep coming back here. (The second is convenience). The rest of the staff on the other hand, is not so great. Reception is not pleasant, some employees don’t know how to comprehend insurance policies, and some are just unprofessional.
I recently came in to check out some frames since it’s been a while since I got new glasses. I came during a busy time after work, so it was understandable that I had to wait my turn, but they had no system for walk-​ins whatsoever. I asked if there was a waiting list and was just told that someone would help me soon. So I waited about 10 – 15 minutes until someone finally «helped» me. She informed me what I was eligible for and said she would help me look at some frames. I walked over to check some out and when I looked back, she was already helping another customer (who just got there btw) with what she was supposed to be helping me with! Um hello? I just waited forever for… no service? I was too tired after work to deal with that bs so I just went home. I’ve been thinking about switching optometrists for a while now and this pushed me to finally do it.
