As I ate here last night, Justin Bieber’s song kept playing through my mind… «Is it too late now to say sorry?»… I was apologizing to my empty wallet after dropping $ 49 on two burritos, two super nachos, two drinks and leaving somewhat full but extremely UNsatisfied. The owners are awesome and super friendly. So it really saddens me that last night’s trip to our old neighborhood joint was not at all what it used to be. OPPOSITE-OF-«SUPER» NACHOS: As we waited in a quietly empty dining room(indicator #1 to leave), we heard audible beeps throughout the restaurant. After hearing a door open and close, followed by another set of beeps, the familiar sounds of microwave use was confirmed(sign #2 to vámonos). «OMGISTHAT A MICROWAVEBEEPING?!» Shit — WTF part of our $ 49 dinner is being MICROWAVED!!! I wanted to cancel our orders and ask for a refund. Against my better judgement, we stayed and I’m still kicking myself the following morning for not leaving. Two skimpy orders of carne asada«super» nachos each came out on a smaller-than-average paper plate. Heavy handed splotches of crema mexicana(Mexican sour cream), a light sprinkle of pico de gallo, a teaspoon of guacamole, and barely 3 tablespoons of tough, dry carne asada strewn about the little plates. FML — could’ve gotten better nachos at Taco Bell for a fraction of the price without having to get out of the car. BURRIT-NO!: My lackluster prawn burrito was disappointing to say the least. Components were flavorless. It’s like eating when you have a cold and can’t taste anything due to congestion so you’re just unenjoyably chewing the entire meal. My first bite was all rice… bland, mushy rice. After my third hungry bite, still no pico de gallo, no refried beans, and NOPRAWNS. I finished ¾ of my «prawn» burrito and only came across 4 crustaceans. If these were prawns at all, they must’ve been baby ones. By this point I was no longer interested in seeing if the remaining ¼ had any«prawns» left. Probability stated nope. My parents raised us not to waste food, so typically if a dish can’t be finished, we take it home. But this, I brokenheartedly abandoned. The only highlights of our meal were the refreshing drinks. It’s hard to mess up horchata and melón agua fresca. So many questions left unanswered: 1) Are you sure this is TWO orders of super nachos? Cuz it looks as if one order was split between two plates. 2) Would a to-go box have been filled with more than the inadequate handful of tortilla chips we received on these little plates? 3) Does Taqueria Maria no longer serve chips with their burritos or were ours just negligently omitted? I may never know the answers cuz fooling me twice for my hard earned money would be a shame. Super-sadface. ¡Qué lástima!

This is the best taqueria I’ve ever been to! They have the best salsas and al pastor ever. It’s cheap, quick, and amazing. I always get an al pastor super burrito, never had anything else.

Good food, can’t beat the tostada or Al pastor. I’ve tried a number of mexican food places and this is great. I like the jumbo burrito, really fills you up.

I love this place so much that I over look all the health code violations and enjoy well made burritos. I find comfort in knowing that anytime I get work on my car done I’ll swing this way for a super carnitas burrito.

The food is perfectly adequate. The selection is perfectly safe. The taste is authentic enough. The prices are reasonable, not too expensive nor cheap. You go in, order, get your sides, drink, and sit down. Then you realize that they have adequate seating and sat right down quickly and without drama. The customers typically are not rude and can even be friendly. The line up of entry, ordering station, condiments, drinks is well organized and logical. The staff will bring your order to your table.(Without pressuring for tips.) And sitting down to eat you realize that it was a pleasant experience. This was fresh food fast. Even when there is a rush of people, there is no crowding. You can eat your food, even with families, and then go on your way. I’ve had the carnitas burrito, carne asada, the shrimp burrito, different tortas, quesadillas, and tacos over many visits. They are perfectly adequate. Their chips are as good as or slightly better than average for the SF Bay Area. There is always plenty of fresh salsas and sauces to choose from. They also have pickled carrots and limes. I would eat the cooked food fresh rather than wait too long for best flavor.

Clean, has own parking lot, service fine. Went here a lot during high school and intermittently years after. Not sure if there has been recent change in ownership, policy etc but last few times there was just meat scraps in the burritos, ex. Carne asada regular from last week was severely lacking. And over the years I been there enough to know the price increases. I am thankful this shop introduced me to Mexican flavors and dishes but currently I know there are other places with better food for the price.

My new go to spot to get a burrito now. This is the first place I decided that to try the prawn and steak super burrito, and I think I’m addicted now. It’s soooo good. Every bite is full of flavor. Comes with a side of chips that are kept hot. There’s parking in front right next to a garage and the place is clean. Definitely, the place to go if wanting some Mexican food in the area or if don’t want In n Out.

This was the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced at a restaurant in my life. We’ve gone here plenty of times and had a perfectly okay experience with somewhat good Mexican food. Today there was a new girl behind the counter who took her sweet time catering to the people before us(I assume because they spoke Spanish and we did not) and seemed totally turned off that we were there at all. Tell me why we arrived at 6, finally got to order(when SHE was ready) at 6:15 and then didn’t get our cup for soda(which is literally right behind her) until 6:35??? All the while she was personally catering to the people before us like they were distinguished guests and we were stowaways. I will NEVER be coming back here again. There are way too many better restaurants in the area. Go to Guerreros in Pacifica instead. 2 stars because I enjoyed the food.

Maria Taqueria. Unassuming place on Sullivan Avenue. You blink you drive by it. Right next to the oil changers. And the drive-in carwash. For a quick dinner or a quick lunch nice portions for pricing the best thing is it taste real good. I had a two taco plate with Carnitas. Also a regular burrito with Al pastor. They also have inside the shop is the salsa bar we could pick and choose what kind of salsa you like and the spiciness. Free chips when dining in. Free sodas refills. Dining room is nothing fancy. But is very clean. Overall a place to come and try. It’s not your mission burrito but when your daily city is better than waiting in line at in and out burger.

Definitely a five star. Went there today to have a taco plate with prawn and pork, and they were phenomenal. The ingredients are fresh and full of flavor. The corn tortilla is perfectly moist enough to give an excellent texture. And the dude with the hat on in the front was super friendly. Definitely would go again.

Stopped by here for lunch the other day. It was OK. Not great, but OK. The folks who took my order were friendly. The tacos were good, but not great.

I have been driving by this place for years and never thought twice about coming here, until I moved to the east bay and came to visit moms and she wanted a burrito. I figured when she said«good burrito» I would think it was awful at best(I didn’t inherit her taste buds for the most part). This is a hidden gem, especially because it’s in Daly City! She lives in the Excelsior so she’s not far from good burritos. But this place has parking. Ambiance is nothing special, but food was pleasantly surprising as a first timer here. They have four salsas(and the only spicy salsa verde I can find anywhere) and it’s free along with chips. They have a nice selection of meats and beans(most places only have one kind of beans and 3 – 4 meat options) and the beverage selection is overwhelming. Special requests are easily accommodated and service is great. One of my top 5 favorite casual Mexican spots.

Ordered their carnitas nachos. Delish! If you’re taking them to go, eat them as soon as possible before they get soggy :( The carnitas were very soft and tasty and I know good carnitas. Recommend.

When I don’t wanna go to the Mission for a burrito, this place is the next best, closest thing. I usually get a carne asada or chicken super burrito. Both are very good, but the chicken is my favorite. Quesadillas are also pretty tasty. A little on the«quiet» side for a taqueria than I’m used to, lol, but as far as the food, cleanliness, and parking are concerned it’s a nice place to grab a bite. Comer aquí ahora!

First of all, let me say that the young guy at the register is very polite and friendly. I love good service. Food is pretty damn good. I usually get a carne asada super burrito on a spinach tortilla with an horchata, nom. BEWARE: food coma is inevitable. Place is pretty well maintained. Every time I’m there, the floor and tables are always clean and the salsa bar is not a mess. They have their own parking lot, right off the freeway. Convenient.

Best Taqueria in The Peninsula. If you’re ever in doubt and need to fulfill your Mexican food cravings in Daly City, head to Taqueria Maria. All their burritos are fairly large and definitely fulfilling. Also! The chips are freshly made their so they go perfect with the fresh salsas they have available. Skip the line at In N Out.
