North Fence and Deck

I called North Fence and deck Company and had a quick call back from Jay the owner who is very down to earth. We talked about the Job and what type of fencing would be best for my yard. He emailed me the quote in less than a day with a very fair price. Jay finished the job in less than 2 days and I am very satisfied with his work and would recommend him.

Called North Fence and Deck a few days ago after heavy rains/​winds knocked one of our fences down. Lucky for me, Jay was able to come out the next day to evaluate the damage and give me a quote on a new fence.
Within a few days, they came in, removed my old fence and built the new fence in one day. The price was good, our fence looks great and they left the backyard cleaner than they found it. Definitely recommend Jay and his crew.

First of all I had two other fence contractors come out to look at this job, both of them said the accessibility to the job was bad, and they would not take the job. Of course you know I was upset because now I thought I was never going to find a contractor that would do this job. So I gave Jay at North fence a call, he surprised me when he said there’s no problem with this job he can do it in a day. So after my neighbor and I accepted the estimate we scheduled the work. Jay and his crew arrived there on time in the morning and within six hours we had a beautiful new fence. Of course I can’t give you the names of the two other fencing contractors that refused to do the work, that would be going against Unilocal review policy. So all I can say is if you do need some kind of fencing or decking just go straight to North fence and talk to Jay. In a side note the fence was completed a few days before Thanksgiving, and I insisted that all my guests come out and look at the new fence. I think that says it all.

My neighbor and I shared into the cost of replacing a common property fence; my neighbor contracted the job with North Fence company. The contractor dug up 20 feet of my fuchsia plants grown next to the fence on my property, without my permission. When confronted, the contractor told me that the plant roots were destroying the foundation. I picked up my «deceased» fuchsia, pointed out to the hair thin roots, and asked him, «do you really think I am that stupid? The plants were not in your way, why did you pull them out?» The contractor evaded my question and told me to talk to my neighbor instead. Also, my neighbor did not have time to shop for bids. These guys charged one-​third more than two estimates I got on the side. But since this contractor is supposedly a friends’s friend of my neighbor, I agreed to the higher quote thinking that we would experience higher quality result… I was so WRONG.

Jay is the man! My entire family has done business with him for years. We’ve had it all — fences, trellis, decks and gates. This guy knows his stuff and is always professional and thorough. Prices are always fair and Jay is full of suggestions to make your project work. I had a gate done that was a bit tricky but North Fence’s creativity made it look seamless. If you’re looking for an honest business with great customer service this is your guy. He is just an all around good person with a great sense of humor that makes the transaction enjoyable. How great is that when your spending money?!

Here’s my experience with North Fence: Jay was very professional, gave me a fair estimate and I am pleasantly surprised and happy with our new fence. In two days we ended up with a beautifully, well-​crafted 100ft fence. Our backyard has been transformed. I would HIGHLY recommend North Fence and Deck if you are looking for a professional, high-​quality job done well and in a timely manner.

Jay and his crew just completed a gorgeous fence & deck project for me at my home. I am highly pleased with their expertise and professionalism. Jay not only exemplifies his knowledge in doing complex jobs but he does so with integrity and an uncanny sense of humor, thus allowing me to feel comfortable that they were the right people for the job. They were also expedient in providing a quote and are very reasonably priced.
I must say that I’m shocked at the post I read from K.W. as I couldn’t imagine Jay conducting business that way. As it turns out, I recently had my car serviced by the so called «referral source» and they as well as other businesses in the area have had to exercise their right to refuse service to her. So, keep your head up! You’re doing a superb job as a successful businessman!

I called North Fence Co for an estimate. It took him several days to return my initial call, then when he showed up to measure, Jay was not able to figure the cost on the spot as 4 other companies did. He said he would email the estimate right away that day. Four days later i get an email with an attachment that was blank with a note on the email that attachment would not work with apple computers. And he did not provide cost in the text of the email. If he knows that, why not ask customer up front if they use an apple computer so he can send a proper estimate that can be read. I called him to get the cost and did not remember it and said he would have to find it and get back to me. Such a run a round i’ve never experienced with other companies. 10 days later and still no estimate that can be read. My gut tells me it would be a mistake to follow up and hire this company — selected one of the other estimates i received from a very professional and reputable fence company.
One day later — update — Jay called this morning and threatened me, demanding that i remove my Unilocal comments. This seems unprofessional. The next day jay visited my referral source at his place of business (who did not know Jay, just passed on his business card) and Jay told him that i yelled and swore at him — which my referral source reported as a strange encounter and knows the allegations are not true since he’s known me or 15 yrs. — we’re baffled by Jay’s behavior. I am exercising my right to comment on exactly what took place so that others can beware.

We had North Fence Co. back to replace two more fences of ours as well as a retaining wall and two gates. They work was clean and the fences are beautiful. They really add a lot to our property. The owner and crew are fabulous — easy to work with, good prices, very responsive and really hard workers.

Jay and his crew did a great job on our backyard fence. Yeah, the website is a bit dated and occasionally it takes a day or two for him to reply to a call or email, but c’mon, he’s a fence– building, Harley-​riding, «went fishin’ ‘» kind of guy. No seriously, he didn’t return a call for a couple days because he was *actually* out fishing with his family and didn’t get cell reception. Can’t blame a guy for that. When it came time to build the fence, he was all business. No pressure sales tactics, the guys just shows up, gives you his price (which was really reasonable) and that’s that. Got the job done on time and the level of craftsmanship was very good. The final product exceeded our expectations and we’d definitely recommend to friends and neighbors. Actual score would be ~4.75.

North Fence Co. was recommended to us by one of our friends, so we already saw an example of their quality of work. We called for an estimate and J. (the owner) came the same day. He was knowlegable about the different materials, and was fair with his estimate. He provided us different options of how the fence can be done. J. and his employees did a great job on the fence. They were fast and efficient. Our fence and the neighbor’s fence (3 sides of fencing) were completed within 4 days. We were all very happy with the results. Working with J. and his workers was a great experience.

All in all the work and quality was great but was disappointed when I can across a question of part of the work. Wanted them to come back to look at the problem and never received a response or call backs.
