Business Owner

Dr. Huey Tran is the founder and CEO of TransVision Eye Care. He received his degree as a Doctor of Optometry from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry (UABSO).

Previously, Dr. Huey Tran had graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry. Before opening TransVision Eye Care, Dr. Huey Tran received his optometric training at Trussville Vision Care, Tuscaloosa Veteran Administration Hospital and UABSO Eye Care.

Dr. Huey Tran specializes in the treatments of eye disease and vision disorders with emphasis on glaucoma, eye allergies, and dry eyes. Dr. Huey Tran also enjoys fitting contact lenses for everyone, especially those hard-​to-​fit patients.

I got a new job and my current eye doctor wasn’t in network so I found Dr. Tran. He seems like a genuinely nice doctor who cares about the health of your eyes and taught me things about my eye that I didn’t know. His mother went blind from Glaucoma and he focuses on your eye health and keeping it healthy. They gave me sample contacts to try out and see how I liked them and then he wanted to see me back the next week to dilate my eyes. I have never been charged for a contact fitting before, and I wasn’t too happy about that. I’ve worn contacts for years. But they don’t charge me for any follow up visits and they don’t charge to get more sample contacts. I felt like they made effort to work with you and to keep their customers and I will probably go back and stay with Dr Tran

I tried Transvision Eyecare about two years ago when the DMV told me I didn’t pass the eye test. So much for my Lasik surgery! Apparently I have had some «regression» but that’s a whole other Unilocal review. Sure enough, Dr. Tran told me that my eyes were in bad shape from years of contacts, sun exposure and from the Lasik surgery. He even showed me a side-​by-​side of my unhealthy cornea and his healthy cornea, thanks a lot Dr. Tran. He confirmed that I could benefit from a light prescription, especially when driving at night. The glasses were a little too pricey for me (with no insurance for vision coverage) at Transvision, so I got my eyeglasses elsewhere.
Transvision’s office is beautiful, it’s conveniently located, and the staff is the some of the most friendly and helpful that I’ve ever seen in a medical office. I recently went back for another exam, to check my prescription before replacing my lost glasses and had another great experience. This time Dr. Tran taught me that eye exams can indicate many different illnesses, and showed me the pictures to prove it. Dr. Tran has saved lives with eye exams! Good stuff.

Dr Tran is the best — i’ve been seeing him for the past 7 years. TransVision is right by my work so i just walked in based on the convenience of the location.
I went in with an eye ulcer from my bad contact habits — with his advice and explanation on how to keep my eyes healthy my vision has not changed since my first visit back in 2008!
He and his staff provide a great level of care and always show appreciation for being a loyal patient.

Dr. Tran is SO! NICE! & passionate about what he does. I love seeing professionals light up when they begin to discuss their craft, & get allll into it, like you know what the heck they’re talking about (but he explained it on my level)! That’s him! Exams are way over priced! They quoted me $ 170 for exam for contacts which is outrageous. I went somewhere else and they only charged me $ 90 for the exact same services. It’s a good idea to shop around for the best prices

I made an appointment at Dr. Tran’s office because my usual optometrist was booked two months out and I was running out of contacts.
I couldn’t be happier with the level of care provided by Dr. Tran and his office staff. From making the appointment to paying and scheduling a follow up the ladies at the front office were professional and very sweet. The cost for a contact lens fitting with optomap was lower than at my previous optometrist as well.
Dr. Tran addressed all of my concerns and had me fitted in a pair of contacts with minimal work on my end (almost no «what’s better, one or two, two or three?»). By the time I left I knew more about my eye health than I ever have before. He truly treated me like family.

Dr. Tran — hands down professional, thorough, friendly, & very informative!
I’ve now lived in Dallas for 7 years. My very first optometry experience here was horrific! I found Dr. Tran through co-​workers and he saved the day (& years to follow!) — his office in Dallas is very clean, friendly, and inviting. His wife & staff are courteous and helpful. Dr. Tran has all the most up to date equipment and resources to make your exam top-​notch, not to mention he’s very thorough and details everything in regard to your eye health. Definitely a true professional and is passionate about eye health.
Definitely recommend! Dr. Tran won’t disappoint!

Best optometrist I’ve ever had.
You get your prescription, no questions asked, with PPD so you can buy your glasses anywhere else (I’ve done online because it beats my vision plan’s discounts). There is absolutely no pressure to buy something from the office.
Dr. Tran is honest. I asked him about Lasik and he said that if I was his sister, he’d recommend that I do _​not_​get it. He said while they would make a good amount from the procedure, I wouldn’t be happy with the results.
I’ll be hitting them up later this week to have them adjust some glasses I bought elsewhere. I called and they said they’d do it, no fee.
His staff is fantastic: the lab messed up my sunglasses twice and the office staff negotiated the lab to not charge for any of the lenses treatments. I recommend him to everyone in my office.

As far as choosing an optometrist goes, you’re really left to yourself to find a good one. Most get the job done, but few are as knowledgeable, attentive, and helpful as Dr. Huey Tran. I chose to go to him on a whim, and happily remain a patient to this day. Highly recommended.

i opted not to get the retinal scan but this is something he does offer if you want it… just know that your vision insurance will likely not cover it.

Dr. Tran is freakin’ awesome! He communicates very well. If anything, hes too informative! He makes sure you understand what he is talking about with regard to your eyes and frequently asks if you have questions.
The office is clean and the staff is so friendly. He is now my official eye doctor.

I needed to get my old lenses fitted for new frames. Not having very much money, I opted to find a suitable frame outside of TransVision. Even though this process still cost me $ 100.00, paid in cash, my service went downhill from there. I was told the glasses would be ready in five days. On the fifth day, after driving there, I was told that they were not ready and that I would receive a call when they were on or before Friday. On Friday, I called in myself after receiving no call, and was informed that I would have to wait until Monday. Finally, on Monday I picked up my glasses. They didn’t fit correctly. I went back to have them adjusted. I was helped graciously by one of the desk attendants, and was told to come back if I felt they needed to be adjusted again. The next day I went in again after realizing while driving that they were still crooked. Kim was asked to assist me. She didn’t seem interested in helping, and made comments like «our tools aren’t designed to be used on these frames» and «your lenses are way too small for you» and «because of how cheap these frames are I don’t want to adjust these» and «There’s nothing else I can do» After putting on the frames and having one lens touch my eyebrow and one hang lower than it, I asked her how they looked, knowing that it was crooked. She looked me in the face and said «They’re not that bad». I felt like a second-​rate customer and took my crooked $ 100.00 glasses and left.
Not going back.
