The Monterey by Windsor

Renewing my lease at The Monterey. I started searching for apartments nearby, thinking that I can find a luxury apartment in the similar price range. After weeks of touring apartments, comparing rent, fees, amenities and etc, I decided to renew. While I was able to find nicer properties with luxurious amenities, majority of them were way over priced and not maintained well.
One of the reasons I am staying is because Windsor Communities does an excellent job in maintaining the property. Maintenance requests are handled timely, hallways are vacuumed daily, packages are delivered promptly and I like the people here. For the price, I think this place is a good place to live in West Village area.

We moved into the Monterey almost a year ago and we have absolutely loved it. Great units, common areas, and an awesome and very responsive staff. It is located in a great area of Uptown as well. We really enjoy the community aspect it it and how they try to put events on for the residents; we have made several friends within the building. I would highly recommend this building to anyone looking to move in Dallas.

Truly a wonderful place to live. The front office staff and the maintenance staff make it feel like home. It is a very quiet building, especially if you are facing the garden. The amenities are all great as well. No complaints. Most people renew their lease.

The best apartments I have ever lived in. First and foremost I have always felt safe which is a huge plus! You need a key fob to get inside the building from any outside door and also the elevators.
The staff is great. I have lived here for 4 ½ years and Andi (manager) has always been so nice and helpful. Abigail in the leasing office is great too.
I love our pool and it’s never too crowded even in the summer. It is always clean and the music they play outside is not too loud. The gym is clean and the equipment is pretty good as well. The Monterey also has plenty of space one the first floor to rent out of parties.
Even though I can hear my upstairs neighbor sometimes it’s not constant or very loud. More faint than anything. Overall it is pretty quiet compared to other places I have lived before.
Location is unbeatable for me. In uptown, but not next to bars so you don’t hear loud music all the time. Walking distance to Mi Cocina, Taco Diner, The Magnolia, and many other shops.
I highly recommend The Monterey!

Great customer service and amenities. The ladies that work at the leasing office are super helpful as well as the support staff throughout the building. If something is not working properly and they are very prompt and responsive to help and fix it. Packages are delivered daily to your apartment unit which is a plus. The pool is fabulous and never crowded and the fitness center gets the job done. The best part about the building is that is very walkable in uptown and to the West Village.

I am really going to miss this place.
My husband and I moved from Philadelphia to Dallas over a year ago and decided on The Monterey due to its proximity to DART and the Uptown neighborhood. Andi and her team made our cross country move so easy. They were very accommodating to our needs by sending pictures since we couldn’t tour the actual apartment in person and made communications clear via phone and email.
Unfortunately my husband’s job has moved us to the Bay Area and again Andi’s team made it painless to end our lease early and move out.
Not only is the staff wonderful but the building is beautiful. There are nice upgrades in the apartments, ample space and storage, and the amenities are great.
We would recommend The Monterey to anyone.

I love living at the Monterey! It is fairly quiet — I rarely hear my neighbors — and the amenities are great! The front desk is always responsive, and we get any maintenance fixed within (typically) 24 hours. Living here you get all the resort perks — great pool (the hot tub is heated all winter!), gym, drop off packages in your apartment, etc. There is a great club house that I have checked out (no fee) for parties or gatherings which is incredibly convenient. The overall location of the Monterey is great because you are so close to all the action without being directly on top of it. I plan to continue to live at the Monterey until I move out of Dallas.
The Monterey doesn’t get 5 stars for two reasons:
1. There have been a handful of break-​ins in the parking garage. I haven’t ever felt unsafe and I haven’t personally been robbed or broken into, but this happens maybe once a quarter on average.
2. There is also a high school across the street and the school zone is fairly annoying during commuting time. Cops have been known to hang out a block away from the high school/​apartment and set up a speed trap. I personally saw them pull over a handful of Monterey residents, myself being one.

Safe area, well-​maintained quiet building, prompt maintenence, but zero cell-​reception. This known issue isn’t mentioned to you before you move in — you find out after you commit to a lease and settle in to your unit. If you work from home and rely on your mobile phone, do not live here, unless you enjoy FaceTiming with your clients over wi-​fi. Granted, management gave us the option to move out without penalty, which we took, but they still required a 60 notice and pocketed all our move in fees. The Monterey could easily be 5 stars if they spent the time and money to correct the issue.

This was my second time staying with a good friend from college (once in 2014, once just recently in 2015). All the included amenities were very helpful for someone moving here from out of town and I can see why this was an easy choice for my friend and her partner. This complex is like gaining an instant community; neighbors are nice and helpful but never nosey. Everyone down at the pool was friendly and respectful, and the children when they were there, were well supervised by their parents and well behaved. Community grills are cleaned daily and we really enjoyed using them at dinnertime. The hot tub is a nice addition and great for those cooler Texas evenings. The apartments inside are well designed and everything seems new (appliances, cabinets, etc). Water pressure in the shower was great and I love that my friend has both a shower and a bathtub in her master bath. Half baths are also a nice feature and great for entertaining guests. The apartment balcony is great for enjoying your morning coffee. The building is very secure and feels very safe; I like how you need a fob to both get inside from the street and to call the elevator.
My only complaint is that since the crowd is rather cosmopolitan here, I assumed there would be a big recycling bin in the trash room but we had to go all the way downstairs to find an appointed big bin. In many parts of the nation and overseas, it’s expected that you produce more recycling than trash, so I hope that The Monterey can soon catch up and offer better recycling amenities (very big bins in each trash room and bins next to every trash can in the community areas).
Overall a pretty cool place and I hope my friends are still living here when I come again to visit.

I love living at The Monterey! I’ve been a homeowner forever, and downsized to a 2 bedroom apartment here this year. The entire experience has exceeded my expectations! The staff is friendly, helpful and responsive… from the leasing office to the maintenance crew. The property is clean and well-​tended. My apartment is spacious, with big closets and plenty of room. And the location can’t be beat… very pedestrian neighborhood. I can walk everywhere!

We love living at The Monterey! Having lived in a house as long as I can remember, this is our first Townhome/​Apartment living. The staff is very nice and responsive; from the leasing office to maintenance. I really cannot say enough kind words. Our Townhouse is clean and modern, and they are very pet friendly with a great dog park. The location is fantastic, and every resident we have met is friendly. This is an interim move while we build a new home, and we could not be happier with our choice. :)

Worst place I ever lived. Over priced and the management staff was extremely rude. The neighbors were loud and the pool area was dated. I was overcharged at move out (really.charged for cleaning the toilet?) and they lost my keys after I moved out and charged me for that too. I would never recommend this place. There is a new building in West Village I would recommend. I love West Village but wouldn’t live here again.

One of my friends lives here and I have visited numerous times. There are so many wonderful things going on here at The Monterey by Windsor.
First, it is located in Uptown within walking distance from numerous hotspots. Sip Stir Café is located just down the street. There is also a bunch of other eateries around within walking distance.
Second, I feel really safe and secure. You have to use a fab to get into the building, and then again to access the elevator. The parking is accessed again by another security measure, meaning, everything is super secure.
Third, the units are gorgeous. Between the gorgeous floors and the upscale appliances, I feel the luxury.
This is a great place, located in the heart of uptown with great access to 75. If you are looking for an upscale, luxury apartment complex, this should definitely be a contender.

I love living here! There’s a lot of reasons but here are my top 3.
1) The Staff — from the leasing agents/​team (shout out to Ariel!) to the maintenance crew, they are on top of their property game! They respond to emails and maintenance requests fast!
2) Convenient location — having just moved to Dallas and being new to the area, I love the accessibility of Uptown Dallas life but still feeling like I love in a small neighborhood. And the interstate/​freeway is just around the corner.
3) Community — It might be just me but everyone that I’ve met at the Monterey who are residents have all been really nice. There’s lots of social events sponsored by the leasing office and I’ve met and networked with a lot of people.
Love living in the Monterey!

Very good place to live. Close by many restaurants and bars. The amenities in the complex are very nice. Maybe I have really quite neighbors because I never hear them while in my apartment, and I rarely see anyone on my floor.
When I moved out, they did charge me for some things that I thought was bullshit. For example, they charged me for cleaning the oven. WTF!!! I never used the oven. They charged me for cleaning the fridge. I left some sodas in there for the cleaning person.
Despite these minor injustices, it’s a good place to live overall.

I have been extremely pleased with The Monterey. Windsor Management is excellent. Services calls are responded to quickly and the amenities are great. Neighbors are nice, few noise issues, and safe.

Beautiful apartment complex! I moved her from Boston and wanted to live close to good nightlife but not innnn nightlife. So west village was perfect. Amenities are all great, but yea they all close at 10 except for the gym (24 hrs) which I think is pretty standard for West Village/​Uptown or anywhere that the pool is not rooftop.
The management must have changed since people wrote the reviews below. They’re all extremely friendly (except that one girl Megan. But she got fired) and maintenance is quick. Ton of parking available, and option for reserved spots if you want (extra $ 50 a month I i think)
Downfalls:
1. Thin walls. As every apartment complex generally has
2. Really really really bad cell phone service. But they will pay for you to get a network extender, which is yours to keep even if you move out.
3. High rent. They just added a $ 20 a month amenities fee
4. Time Warner cable
Perfect place for someone who wants to live close the great nightlife but still wants to go home to a quiet place. Only reason I moved out was to be closer to work and I can’t deal with Time Warner Cable ever ever EVER again :-)

Don’t move here! The management changes constantly. There are loud and inconsiderate neighbors all around. They left a $ 3000.00 laptop we ordered from Apple outside of my door and even after we complained a few weeks later they left another package outside our door. We had neighbors’ guests ring our door bell and run after a big party (childish) and a strange drunk guy trying to get in our door at 2 in the morning. I assumed he thought it was his place. Let’s not forget the security sucks. My husband and I witnessed someone breaking in to the neighbors apartment. The place is supposed to be secure. We were paying good money to live there and it definitely did not stand up to par. Everyone let’s their friends park in the garage so good luck finding a parking spot if you have to work late. The management just doesn’t seem to care. We moved out early because we were so extremely unhappy and just the other day they sent us a bill for $ 20.00. Some of the stuff that had to get fixed when we moved out was vaild (there was a dent in the refrigerator door that happened when we were moving) but they charged us for cleaning the balcony. Really? The thing would get dirty from the dryers or something. It was nothing we even had control over. To sum up, take your $ 2000.00 a month and go somewhere else!

The place looks beautiful but it’s not all it’s cracked up to be… The walls are thin, fire alarms at inconvienient hours, and all amentities close early like a retirement home ugh! This is uptown… Get it together. One good thing is the office staff is so helpful and friendly now, so ask for Justin or Meghan and they’ll take care of you.

I just moved into this apartment complex. after 8 years of living in a house, I was very hesitant to live in a apartment again. Unwarranted concerns… the apartment manage has been fantastic and very accomodating. The amenities are fantastic…“the Cave” — outdoor home theatre, dog park, laundry service, etc. I love the location across the straight from Cole Park… my dog even loves it… I have already made some great friends… I could not be happier with my decision…
