Nortex Custom Floors

Bottom line — we wanted to support a small business, as I have a small business myself, but this company pulls a classic bait and switch when it comes to service and I simply cannot recommend them.
Our first contact with Justin (the owner) was very good. He was quick to set up our estimate and work, and seems to be a very nice guy. On installation day, the workers arrived for installation an hour later than scheduled, and stayed 3 hours longer than estimated. Only one worker seemed to have any idea what was happening. After the floors were installed, we were left with sawdust and loose nails all over the floor, which is unacceptable as we have a young child in the home. We had to finish cleanup ourselves. The workers were scheduled to return about 2 weeks later to put the stain on the floor. In the meantime, we discovered boards that seemed to be cut too short and several gouges in the floor as well as damage to a window sill. The workers were also careless about removing the floor molding and caused quite a bit of damage to the walls where the molding would need to be reattached. When Justin came out to collect the second of 3 payments, I pointed all of our concerns out to him. He again was very friendly and assured me that they would all be repaired and clearly articulated exactly how the repairs would be made. He also volunteered that the workers would be carefully covering up all of our window coverings and entryways so that the dust from sanding would be contained. I felt quite reassured after his visit, and I assumed that he communicated all this to his workers. However, when his workers arrived I found the exact opposite. They came in, apparently to immediately begin sanding the floors. I first asked them if they were going to fix the boards as Justin said they would and the worker began arguing with me, trying to convince me that it was already done correctly when it clearly was not. Additionally, they were refusing to cover the windows and doorways, claiming that sanding does not make a mess. At this point I was furious, and I was greatly concerned to have a worker in my home who was being so belligerent. I finally had to call Justin to rectify the situation. He told me that he would come to our house to address the situation, and that the supervisor of work would also come by. Well, the supervisor did come out quickly which I appreciated, and he did make sure the work was done as Justin said it would be. However, Justin never came by the house as he said he would, which really surprised me. Both Justin and the supervisor told me that the stain and one coat of poly would be put on that day, a second coat of poly the next day, and a final coat on a third day. The workers returned the next day and put the second coat of poly on the floors and announced they were done. When I had a chance to survey the room, I realized that the workers had gotten stain on my walls and doors in multiple places! (For example, one was clearly a shoe/​footprint on our wall, showing how careless the workers were) I contacted Justin about both the stain and the question of whether the workers were done, and he completely ignored my concerns and told me the work was done, with no further explanation or apology.
Luckily, our floors do look good, which I guess is what matters in the end, but I would not use this company again.
