Maple Donuts

Their cake donuts are seriously so good! And their bacon egg and cheese croissants. Plus they have a drive thru so perfect for Sunday morning when you don’t want to get out of your car :) this is right down the street from my apartment so it’s now my go-​to when I want a donut (or two)

This place is close to my work and I was a little afraid that the donuts weren’t going to be that good, but they were pretty decent. Owners are really nice and when they were 3 donuts short of my dozen (I came 15 minutes before closing time), they gave me 24 assorted donut holes to make up for it.
Good prices too, only $ 6 for a dozen. I’ll be back!

Donuts are not bad at all. I would consider them average, but they are good.
They have a drive through, so that makes grabbing donuts extra convenient.

Been driving by this place for over 10 years wondering when I should try it. After reading about it from a fellow Unilocaler I decided to do so. My wife and I went this morning and got the ham, egg, and cheese croissant sandwich. It was really dang good. The ham, egg, and cheese were a little warm from where she nuked it which made the cheese nice and melted. The croissant was the kicker though. It was nice and tender and flaky. We brought a dozen and a half donuts back to the office and others seemed to like them as well. I would like to go back soon and try the huge apple fritter.

Ok, I have to update my review from four stars to five stars. Since working at the hospital, this little donut shop is the single best discovery I have made this summer.
Located off of maple and Denton, near medical district drive, Maple Donuts is a hidden gem. Yes, a gem. I have tried their donuts, glazed, chocolate and maple bars, but the reason this shop deserves five stars is because of their breakfast croissants!
For under $ 3, I ordered a ham, egg and cheese croissant. Delicious! Between the buttery croissant and the egg, ham and cheese I was in Heaven. If I could order one of these every I would… and it would be totally worth it.
Did I mention that they have a drive-​thru?! You don’t even have to get out of your car. Seriously, try this place out. Forget the donuts… go straight for the breakfast croissant! :)

Good donuts and breakfast sandwiches. They don’t ever throw in freebies, but the prices are good, and again, the food is pretty delicious! I get a box of assorted fro the office and a bacon, egg, and cheese croissant sandwich for myself for under $ 10.

If you’re looking for a good ol’ down to earth donut shop, then Maple Donuts is the place for you. If you’re looking for gourmet /​fancy donuts then this probably isn’t for you.
Having grown up in the area means that Maple Donuts has had a place in my heart and stomach since when I was a kid. Now when I come to visit it is when I’m rushing to work or class in the morning. The donuts here are «standard» in that you’ve got glazed, chocolate, sprinkled, some filled ones, croissants, kolaches, and some pigs in a blanket. They’re all pretty tasty though, they’re always super soft and fluffy. You can’t beat the price either.
The décor looks like it’s been there since the 70’s, but good thing we’re here for the donuts not the décor, am I right? The ladies that work there are always super nice and you’re (usually) able to make it in and out the door pretty quickly. They’ve even got a drive-​thru if that’s your style.

I’ve been tinkering a bit with the donut scene here in Dallas, and while I’ve had some decent options: (

), nothing has really blown me away. While Maple Donuts has service that really did blow me away, the product was right in line with what I’ve experienced. Meh.
Star 1: How was the service and atmosphere?
So here’s where Maple Donuts really shines. No, the location isn’t amazing, but I’m sure Maple Donuts gets some serious hospital traffic. The service? That’s the selling point. The women at Maple Donuts are amazing, and it’s clear that they’ve developed a solid local crowd of regulars. They’re knowledgeable, friendly even early in the am, and really make the experience. Star Granted.
Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost?
Another winner here. Fantastic donuts charged me $ 0.85 for a standard glazed, while Sunrise and Yummy were right in line with that. Maple, on the other hand, only charged $ 0.60 for a glazed treat that was the same size. $ 0.80 is pretty much as far as I prefer to go for a fried ball of hating myself, and Maple beats that by a wide margin. Additionally, with a sausage roll coming in at only a dollar? That’s fair. Have a look:

Stars 3 and 4: How was the food?
You get what you pay for eh? Well, at this that was the case here. Let’s start with the donut. The cake itself wasn’t quite as fluffy and light as I prefer, and the glaze was «flaking», which is my biggest pet peeve when it comes to donuts. The taste wasn’t great, and a greasy aftertaste had my diving into my sausage roll sooner than I would have chosen. Speaking of the sausage roll, it was pretty standard. Nothing fancy. No Stars Granted.
Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could?
The service at Maple really is amazing, but the product is lacking. I’ve had better donuts in Dallas. No Star Granted.

I always drift towards croissants. Maybe it’s because I’m Canadian. Maybe it’s because I like pretending I’m French ever since I started taking it in middle school. But Maple Donuts does croissants right. Crispy, buttery, and the delicious satisfaction of sinking your teeth into soft, airy pastry and biting into a juicy (albeit thin) sausage… Perfection.
I didn’t enjoy the apple fritter because I like more fruit in my pastries, and it was way too glazed for me, but my friend gobbled up his half quickly.
Blueberry donut had the right amount of blueberries, right amount of cake-​y ish feel but the satisfying crunch of glaze… I definitely ate more than the half that was due to me. My friend was not happy. Sucks to suck.
Definitely if you come here, grab a croissant sausage. It’s mind-​blowing how good they are.

This is just your basic donut shop… nothing is well kept, the donuts are just basic, and the apple fritter didn’t have any apples!
Anyway, I didn’t go into this hole-​in-​the-​wall shop expecting much, but really, it didn’t meet those expectations. It’s kind of a dirty little place, and the donuts weren’t great. The staff was friendly, but honestly? It was the annoying kind of friendly, not the friendly kind of friendly… know what I mean?
Anywho, I guess I maybe back at some point since I live next door, but there are better places to go that are on my way to work as well. I’d recommend it if you don’t know of anywhere better.
Head’s up: Very little parking space, and a little overpriced compared to other places.

My Sis invited me to try this place with her this morning and it is heavenly! The donuts aren’t overly glazed/​sweet, they’re just right. Also their kolaches are great. A great place for those who want to watch their weight, but don’t mind a little cheat once in awhile ;).

There are some mornings where I’m out of creative excuses to why I’m running late for work but luckily for those mornings there’s Maple donuts.
Maple donuts is not only conveniently on my way to work but they have a drive thru! Their menu is rather quite simple but they have all the basics: glazed, chocolate, strawberry, donut holes, croissants, sausage croissants and breakfast burritos and sandwiches. I’m supposed to be clocked in and at my desk at 7AM so when I’m at Maple it’s usually about 7:30ish and even that early their donuts are already cold. I don’t expect much from a donut shop so I’m a regular here and I’m not alone. There are several people who eat inside while their waiting for the bus or live at the apartments around the area. The owner working behind the cashier stopped to stick her head out the drive thru window and wave to a resident walking his dog. In fact all the little Asian ladies working here are pretty friendly.
The inside of the donut shop is very 70’s diner style. The brown and orange furniture is old but comforting and there’s a little TV where the morning news is always playing. So if your stuck at the light, sleepy and need some sweets or wanting to be the office hero who brought breakfast, Maple donuts is a worthy enough place to get your fix.
