I loved my haircut and Tommy did a wonderful job! I chopped off 7 inches and got some great summer layers! I loved my experience, but I was surprised at the final price. I had read reviews and assumed it was going to be $ 50ish for a wash/cut/blow-dry, but it was about double that price. It is also cash only which is a bummer to find out after the fact. I should have asked in advance. I was also not sure about tipping, so I did it just in case which made it even pricier. Live and learn! Still loved my experience! Either way, you will be happy with your hair afterwards, and I plan on going again. :)

There is no receptionist at Fringe. Only a voice recorder. Because, the stylists basically work and book their appointments independently. But boy are they great. Very professional, clean, friendly atmosphere. Even the few times a preceeding client is late, they do their best to both keep you on schedule and not compromise your service. Likewise, when I was very sick one year and the medication was doing horrible things to my hair, my stylist worked with me to help gently repair the damage and try different styles to compensate. His kindness has not been forgotten. I am a very loyal, 20+ year customer and encourage you, if you are new to stop by their salon. They will help match you with a stylist you like and with whom you can directly«bash» your calendars.

How was my experience? I never had one. Who knew that their were businesses out there who don’t want or need new customers? I called Friday 2⁄22 of last week at 3:30. It went to an answering machine. I left a message with my name, return phone number and let them know i wanted a haircut. I never received a return call. I called yesterday 2⁄28 at 3 and spoke with a nice woman who took my number said she would give it to the stylist and he would call me to make an appt. Its now 3:30 on 3⁄1 and I still haven’t heard back. All I want is a flipping hair cut. I live 2 blocks from your salon. I could walk there. How rude can you be? At least let me know you aren’t taking on new clientele right now.

After 5 years of living in Dallas, I FINALLY found a hair stylist that does the job. A friend recommended Michael Saldivar to me and I decided to give him a try. I’ve been growing out my hair for a couple years and every time I get it trimmed, it ends up looking all busted. I needed someone, once and for all, to just fix it back to its normal state. Michael did that for me. He took his time listening carefully to what I wanted and how I wanted my hair to look. It’s actually a really simple request(trim, fix layers, give it shape) so I am not sure why other stylists always end up botching it… Anyway, Michael did exactly what I needed and then some. He knew so much about the dynamics of hair, how it grows, how to cut it so I could get some sort of volume, etc. He did such a wonderful job, and even though my haircut is growing out again and I am due for another one, it doesn’t look gross — its finally growing out nicely. One other thing, I usually hate when stylists blow out my hair at the end. It always ends up looking crazy, flat, and all in my face… but he gave me the perfect blow dry — I guess its experience from his days working at The Dry Bar. I loved it! The best thing? He only charges $ 40(wash, cut, style) and also gave me a few goodies to take home to try for free(full size bottle of protectant spray and a teasing comb). He was super nice and friendly, I can’t wait to go back again!

You can name all the stylists at all the trendy spots. You enjoy paying $ 50 for a man’s cut or 2 car payments for a female visit. You want to get hammered on free booze while preening in the window that faces out to Blackburn, Snider Plaza, and/or HP Village. You want, no, you NEED the whole world to think that it might just be you that sent 1,000 ships to sail. Yea, Fringe ain’t for you. However, if your neurosis allows that maybe, just maybe, while gorgeous, you’d settle for an incredible salon, with über-talented stylists AND have money left over to make your payment on your 328i, then you’ve found your hair mecca. Tucked away on W. Lovers on the«other» side of Inwood, in a nondescript house is Fringe Salon. Founded by rebels of the tonier salons with their white lab coats and their rave music. The Fringe stylists know it’s all about making you look«mahhhvalus» and actually charging what they should, not what they could. I don’t know what it is about haircuts. We think that if we pay too much then it must be a good cut. au contraire mon frere! If you can get in… which might be a trick since they are booked out for weeks, you can do no better than Stephen, Farie, or Tommy.
