Etgen-Atkinson School of Ballet

I had tried 3 different ballet schools for my daughter prior to enrolling her here. Then, it dawned on me that my professional ballet dancer friend went to this school when she came to visit me. There is a reason for this: It is not a mix and match dance school. It is a REAL ballet school, run by REAL ballet dancers, who had professional careers. The other schools always taught a variety of dance styles and used some pretty raunchy music to do it. This school only teaches classical ballet, and they only play classical music to do it. I did not want my child dancing to raunchy music or wearing inappropriate costumes, both of which were problems with the other schools, but not at this one. Here, the kids receive top notch training and many of EASB dancers go on to dance for big name professional companies in New York. One thing to understand is that Ms. Ann and Mr. Bill are up in years, so this is not a high tech business. They do have a website, but it is fairly static and is not regularly updated. The only thing keeping me from giving them 5 stars is that well, Mr. Bill can be an acquired taste. I rather like him. but my daughter thought that he hated her for about 3 months, before understanding that he was just trying to get her to do her best. Now, she loves him too. Ms Ann is adorable and delightful. Both are as knowledgeable about ballet as anyone you will find in any major ballet company.
