Chocolate Secrets is a gourmet chocolate, fine wine and craft beer boutique located at the corner of Oak Lawn Avenue and Avondale in Dallas, TX. Our chocolates and confections are made by hand with organic and natural ingredients.

With over 80 years of combined chocolate and pastry making experience, our chocolatiers are unsurpassed.

We make bonbons, truffles, chocolate bars, French macarons, exquisite molded chocolate figures, ice cream, cakes, pies, pastries, and more. Our coffee and hot chocolate have been named the best in Dallas.

Every Wednesday to Saturday come enjoy live music. Experience our wine and chocolate pairing classes, chocolate making classes and conversational French classes.

Established in 2004.

Chocolate Secrets is a family owned business headquartered in Dallas, Texas. It has always been our vision to be a part of the community. We have grown organically for over 10 years.

In addition to serving incredible dessert and fine wine, we have tried to create a space to enjoy, indulge and relax with family and friends.

We recently expanded our location and now offer larger event space and private rooms. Chocolate Secrets caters and works with event planners.

I dropped in on Saturday and ordered a variety of things to go. The chocolate was good. I had a lavender peach (favorite of what I had), dark mint, brownie bite, and one of the larger chocolate items (don’t recall the name).
The reason for the 3 stars is the macarons. I adore Macarons and have been looking all over Dallas for the level of quality I expect in this delicious treat. These Macarons are hands down the worst I’ve had in the metroplex. Granted — the flavors of the ganache are good, the shell is stale, hard, and has air bubbles. The pistachio macaron was so crunchy and stale I had to throw it away. Given I frequently make Macarons at home I can only imagine how long these have had to sit out to result in this terrible texture.
If you go — definitely stick to the chocolate.

Well, this might be the only chocolate shop in the Dallas side of the metroplex where they also serve hot chocolate. And the good thing is that there’s four kinds of hot chocolates.
I had asked for the darkest kind, and the classic hot chocolate was recommended. Upon receiving it, I was disappointed because it wasn’t dark enough and wasn’t thick enough like the traditional Spanish style hot chocolate I’m used to like for churro-​dipping. But at least they had powdered dark chocolate which I could use to make mine darker.
There’s a small plate on the counter where I could try their flavored chocolates, which they reserve for pieces that are «messed-​up» — and unfortunately they weren’t too good. The Rosemary dark chocolate had too much Rosemary. But I’m hoping that was the mistake. Haha.
The space is really nice and extremely large for a chocolate shop though, and they also do have a full coffee menu as they have a good espresso machine onsite.
There is also another room to the right (or the «back») where there is a piano and that is reserved for jazz nights. I liked that they have several jazz nights on a weekly basis.
For those that likes to sit outdoors, there’s also a small patio to the left.
And the other things to note is that they also have light food such as sandwiches, wines, and that they make their own chocolate onsite upstairs (which I’m not sure is open to the public for viewing). The employees were friendly and knowledgeable.
This is a nice, cozy find.

Interesting place. We had a hot chocolate and an affogato. Hot chocolate was rich and bittersweet. But was not served with whipped cream and shavings like in the pictures we saw. My fiancé is a hot chocolate aficionado so he has had better. My affogato was pretty good. Vanilla gelato was a little gummy and had probably been in the freezer for a long time. We also tasted some specialty flavors (lavender and saffron) and they were unique and pretty good.
Service was very strange. It’s a huge place with lots of tables like a restaurant. And you wander in and have to find someone to place an order. We got directed around to different guys and someone finally made our stuff. We sat down and they brought it. We weren’t sure how to pay so we wandered up to the counter. One guy was busy talking but he was holding up the iPad register. When he finished he directed another guy to check us out. It was just weird. They were very friendly, but it was just one of those awkward situations where you don’t know what to do.
Drinks were decent, but honestly 3 stars is generous because I wouldn’t come back for them again. The little chocolates were very pretty so maybe if I ever found myself in this shop again I would get one of those.

What a find! Lovely, quiet atmosphere, jazz in the evenings as well. They have a selection of teas, wine, and coffee drinks as well. And the chocolate! Hot damn it’s delicious! It’s a nice quiet place where we were able to catch up with friends and actually hear each other.
We shared the Raspberry Devil’s Cake which was incredible, and got several individual chocolates to go.
I’ll definitely be back.

This place had very beautiful and unique chocolates and interesting desserts. We got salted caramel, Turkish coffee, and vanilla bean. I really liked the salted caramel and vanilla bean but found the Turkish coffee a bit too bitter. But that was my own mistake because Turkish coffee is known for being strong. The coffee was good here too. The best part of this place is that they are opened late which is great for late night cravings.

I had this place bookmarked for years and finally made it in to try their chocolate. I got a vanilla bean and a coconut macaroon. My tip is it’s probably not the best to get macaroon here because it was stale. The filling inside was dried and macaroons suppose to be hard shell with chewy inside. The whole macaroon was hard. As for the vanilla bean, I would give that three stars because it was okay. Overall, I would prefer Kate weisser chocolates in trinity groves

I brought friends here from out of state. (Weeks ago). They haven’t stopped talking about this place. They each bought $ 30 worth of random chocolates that were supposed to make it back home (which they did not)
They used words like «damn» and «freaking» before the word delicious and they thanked and cursed me for taking them there.

This is definitely my taste in aesthetics. I love the simple and endearing décor. It has that delicate and soft quality to it. It’s cozy but not as small as one would think when looking in from the outside.
As soon as you walk in you see all kinds of chocolates. Oh my goodness! I sampled the brownie bite and the mixed nut dark chocolate. It totaled to about 6 or 7 dollars. It’s quite pricey but I came here to try and it was quite delicious. They have a food menu with salads and paninis if you are hungry. I sampled the avocado panini and the pecan salad and it was okay. It was nothing special. I wouldn’t order it again. They also have pies, ice creams, cakes, coffee, wine, and more. Like wow I didn’t realize they had more than chocolate!!!
They have live jazz from 7pm Wednesday through Saturday which is what I came here for mainly. If I had to start over I wouldn’t get the chocolate (unless you really wanted to try their chocolate — they make it in-​house and offer lessons in their kitchen) I would recommend getting their sorbets or ice cream sundaes over the chocolate if you looking for more value for your buck. It looks like they have really good coffees and wines.
I have to thank whoever thought of this fine establishment: to mix jazz and dessert together is a genius :)
The service is great and they offer more than just chocolate so I’d say give it a try.

This is a GREAT idea! A desert place that’s open LATE and serves all kinds of neat little things AND wine (or coffee)?!? Awesome! We went late on a Friday night, and this place needs more attention. It had live music, great location, just a great place to go after dinner when you want a little something more but not a super-​heavy desert. Great little petit-​fours (is that how you spell that?) and chocolates! Just a very cool idea. Great spot! Check it out!!!

4 stars for great ambience and live music. But the chocolate was a bit too sweet for me. We tried quite a few Bonbons and enjoyed it as an overall experience with my wife. A great place to take your date! Great service at the counter. They also have valet parking.

Nothing screams «secret» like giant Hollywood-​sign-​styled letters spelling «CHOCOLATE» on the side of a building, but when you step in for the first time it really does feel like you’ve stumbled upon some secret. So many different chocolate options that are appealing both visually and tastily. I usually get a couple bonbons in whatever flavor strikes my fancy at the time.
By day this place is straight out of the movie Chocolat. You can often have the place all to yourself to quietly read as the occasional tray of treats is marched down the stairs from the kitchen. By night there’s jazz, wine, and dim lighting. The place is usually full (not packed) of girls’ night outs and hot dates. Really worth checking out if you’re in the mood to «treat yo’self».

Finally visited after 3 years of passing it by. I went on a Wednesday evening hoping to listen to some jazz while catching up with a friend but alas NO JAZZ. We were disappointed and no one made an announcement or gave indication as to why there wasn’t a performance that night.
As for the chocolate, pricey but good. I got the sea salt caramel, earl grey (surprisingly does taste like the tea), and a rosemary caramel of some sort. Also got a lavender macaron but it was only ok. I would stick with the chocolate only.
The inside is much bigger than I thought so plenty of seating. Overall this place seems like a great place for girls’ night or a date.

One of the best chocolatiers in Dallas! Every time I have visited, the staff was friendly and had a good selection of chocolates. Everything is a bit on the pricey side, but is so delectable! And the gift wrapping… so pretty and put-​together. They have plenty of seating with a nice décor. They also host Jazz Night Wednesday through Saturday, which is very enjoyable. I would go every week if it was closer to where I live.

If I could I would give you more than 5 stars. Chocolate secrets is a sweet classy chocolate shop without being super pretentious. After the recent renovation it has evolved into something really unique and versatile. I think this place is perfect for hosting intimate parties, going on dates, or self indulging trips alone to fulfill a chocolate fix. This place is just special and they know it. I appreciate the extra mile they take to make packaging look important. It makes their chocolates a very impressive gift. The staff are really interesting and friendly people. I went to their 10 year anniversary event and learned about the really great pairing of satori wine with their red dark chocolate hearts and the el chardonnay with their lime coconut white chocolate. I also learned recently they also serve sandwiches. I ordered a brie and ham sandwich and it was pretty decent! The only downside is parking can be difficult. I still love this place so much despite that little problem.

Chocolate is always going to have a special place in my heart and… stomach, so naturally when my boyfriend and I were driving by the hard-​to-​miss «chocolate» sign we made a detour. I pursued through the large assortment of candy and was informed that everything was made in-​house with the exception of a handful of truffles flown in from Paris — oh lala! I eventually settled on the dark chocolate covered orange rims which were pretty amazing :)
As the the owner’s son wrapped up my goodies (his mom is the mastermind behind this entire operation — girl power!) and he informed me that during the day they mostly sell gift items while in the evening patrons can enjoy decadent chocolate with live performances from local indie artists. What a cool concept! Had I not had a plane to catch, I totally would have returned to see the place light up at night.
Live is short, eat chocolate and support small!

If you’re a chocolate lover, this would be your sanctuary. I definitely know it’s mine! This place is great for studying/​working in the day and perfect for date nights. I love going to this spot for their handmade chocolate and live jazz on Wed-​Sat nights. Their chocolate is pricey but I’d still buy it — they put a lot of love into their chocolates! If you don’t want chocolate, they have honey-​lavender ice cream that I’ll never cease to love. If you’re a chocoholic, get their chocolate ice cream. Probably the most decadent chocolate ice cream I’ve ever had.
I also love their live jazz nights. It’s more bossa nova so it’s pretty relaxing. They have a calendar on their website if you want to know who’s playing. They usually have the same musicians every week but I still enjoy it. :D

This is a great little chocolate and pastry shop. It’s a wonderful place to come with a date, share a glass of wine, a truffle or two, and listen to some live jazz or blues music (they have live performances in the evenings, Wednesday through Saturday). The chocolates are delicious little works of art. They are indeed a little pricey, but I’m willing to pay extra for artistry. Chocolate Secrets also has a great selection of Harney & Sons teas, and they make an excellent Mexican hot chocolate. I wouldn’t recommend the peppermint hot chocolate (it was overwhelmingly pepperminty, like toothpaste) but I give the place credit, when I told the server that I didn’t care for it they took it right back and made me something else. I have always experienced the service to be top notch.
In short, bring a date for a very romantic evening, or just bring a friend who enjoys good chocolate. Their atmosphere is perfect for sitting and chatting for hours.

The chocolates here are so pretty! It’s difficult to just order one. I tried the hazelnut truffle and a caramel truffle and thoroughly enjoyed it. I also had a piece of their chocolate cake which was very dry. i also ordered a vanilla latte which tasted like water and milk. Overall, the chocolates were ok and in my opinion very overpriced.
Service here is great and I really enjoyed the live jazz music they had (I came on a Saturday evening). It’s a great place to bring a first date to just talk and to have something sweet.

Pros
Nice array of chocolate desserts.
They also serve ice cream! Flavors I saw at the time were, dark chocolate, tiramisu, sea salt caramel, and lavender (which I tried).
When my friend told me that they served lavender ice cream, I had to try theirs. Because the lavender ice cream at Hibiscus on Henderson left me in awe.
However this lavender isn’t as great as the one in Hibiscus, but is definitely worth trying for yourself. (I mean c’mon, who serves lavender ice cream nowadays).
The interior was quite interesting, very quaint with open seating. And the ambiance is quite nice if you’re looking for a place to just relax.
Cons
The workers seemed quite uninterested in working there, in my opinion. I don’t know if it was the weather, but I didn’t really spot a friendly smile from any of the workers.
Parking can be a pain, due to the fact that there’s only a 5 car parking lot. But managed to find parking right in front. Probably, because the weather wasn’t so pleasant today.
Definitely check this place out! We don’t really have a lot of chocolate bars in Dallas. You won’t regret it!

I’ve been coming to this place ever since I found it!
Great services and drinks so far, but the thing that makes them stand out is their HOME-​MADE CHOCOLATE!
I gotta say that their chocolate makes me so happy after eating it because those tiny little pieces make my day much better!
