Amazing service! Jonny is the best bartender there. Super friendly and makes great drinks.

Loved it, went on a date for drinks. Sat at the bar. It was Saturday night and we went around 9 o’clock at the the place was pretty empty however witching the next hour it packed up. The bartenders are awesome and can make mean drinks. I wanted something sweet, and he made a signature drink all with fresh basil in it. Love the ambience, built in an old house has a lot of character. Definite going back.

Well, well, well… This is such a cute little cocktail bar! I came here with my friend and I had never even heard of it before. Bowen House kinda sorta reminds me of Parliament, except for the fact that it is a little more quaint and probably not as crazy-​crowded on weekends (but what do I know… I’ve never been here on a Friday or Saturday night).
I did not venture into their cocktails (I know, lame), but my friend did and he said they were absolutely delicious! I had a taste of his and it was a perfectly crafted smokey/​citrusy masterpiece. You can tell they really know what they are doing here when it comes to creating tasty adult bevs.
The vibe is classy+chic yet low-​key and inviting.
I’m sure I will be back at some point!

Craft drinks, appetizers and a chill young professional environment… I enjoyed my first experience on a crisp Thursday evening. The servers/​hosts were more than welcoming and attentive. There were no tables at first to sit but enjoyed the time that we waited. The food came out in a normal time length. I honestly cannot remember the names of all the dishes. Fried brie came out as a good sized serving and a spread to compliment it — not disappointed at all. Chips w a sharp cheese (cannot remember) was delish. You would think the cheese would make the chips soggy but they were crispy and went well with red wine. The other dish was something w meat and bruschetta bread and it was soooo good. My fav of all the 3. I will be coming back to try the Tuna and steak dish. They ran out by the time we got there :-/

honestly, this is one of the best bars in Dallas. I love places like this — classy, terrific A+ drinks, and an atmosphere unlike any other in Dallas. I had the Old Fashion and it was probably the best I’ve ever had. Very friendly place as well. Since I live nearby, I will be visiting often!
Only negative: I wish the must weren’t so loud. You come to these places to talk and they sometimes have the music up a bit too loud for my taste.

Classy little cocktail bar tucked away from mainstream McKinney. No menu. Explain to the friendly waitresses or bartenders what you typically like, and they will bring you a custom-​crafted cocktail just for you. Our drinks were on-​point, and we would definitely go back. Reasonably priced as well, around $ 10 a piece.

Came here and ordered something with strawberry and cucumber. It was the bestest! Nice sweet and refreshing. I don’t live in this area but would come back when I’m around.

It’s a nice ambiance, sure, but the drinks themselves are pretty mediocre and definitely overpriced. And for some reason, this place never became popular despite its prime location, so it’s not even a great place to meet people. And yet still, loud music is blasted, so you won’t be able to chat with friends without yelling.

Came here on a Thursday night, decent music, LOTS of people, cute décor. Luckily it was nice outside so we grabbed a seat on the cute porch swing. The waitress/​bartender (don’t remember her name) was great. She was fast & never left us with an empty glass — plus her drinks were STRONG. Cute area, will be back.

Thirsty? Feeling froggy? Go see John a.k.a Johnny Boy. Sometimes he wears a berkeley hat and sometimes he snaps people’s spines. His favorite movie you ask? Time Cop 2. (Don’t bring it up)
Great atmosphere with drinks made by craftsmen with skills easily confused by that of skilled surgeons. Rumor has it labias litter the floor like some weird off the path Texas Roadhouse. People be prepared, the brie w/​blueberry compote has caused many orgasms on the spot.

If you like vodka, get the «no name». It’s muddled strawberries, cucumber, and basil mixed with vodka, St. Germaine and champagne. Oh, and if you’re looking for an appetizer to share, try the fried Brie. I didn’t know what to expect at first, but it ended up being delicious. Myself and two other girls split it along with the bruschetta. Out of the two, the fried Brie takes the cake.
The ambiance of Bowen house is pleasant. I met up here with a couple of girlfriends, but it would also be a good spot to bring coworkers or even go on a date. I highly recommend checking it out not just for its food and drinks, but also for the historical factor. They have a historical marker out in front that gives all the details of this gem.

Classy!!! Love it. Almost passed this place up since it looks like a house from the outside. Great atmosphere and great drinks. The bartenders can whip up anything depending on your taste. I’m not even sure what I had but it was awesome. Prices are a little steeper since they don’t have hh specials. Will be back!

Awesome atmosphere and a great mixologist. He made me one of the tastiest drinks I’ve had in a while. He hit the nail on the head with pleasing my taste buds. The building is a Texas landmark however, they still need to get their ac fixed. If I wasn’t there with a large group of friends, I would have left because I was dripping sweat. We ended up hanging on the patio, which would be nice on a cooler day but on a July summer night in a cocktail dress, me thinks not.

Ok. So I may get shot for writing this, but meh. Its just a flesh wound.
Went here one Saturday night with my MP and his BFF. Twas a lovely evening, sat outside and enjoyed all the late night people watching. Its on Boll street right behind S&D Oyster. A sweet lil house begging to be loved.
We sit down an our server comes over and asks what we’d like to drink, so of course we asked for a menu. She said they don’t have a drink menu because they specialize in custom cocktails. Oh yes!!! MP and I LOVE places like this!!! So I tell her I love vodka, tart and shaken. She says she has just the drink for me, explains it and I love it! MP said he too likes vodka, but likes his spicy (hot) and shaken. She also says she has a drink that would be perfect, giddyup. Our friend was a little less enthused, wanted just as simple G&T, she tried to get him to order something fancy, but he wasn’t having it.
A few minutes later, she shows up with our drinks and they are delicious. I couldn’t really taste the booze, which can sometimes mean, its a dangerous drink or that their is no liquor in it. Unfortunately mine was the latter. MP too. We both enjoyed the taste of the drink, but the alcohol content was lacking. So when I finished that one, I ordered another one, thinking maybe it was just a weak one. Nope, it wasn’t. :(Deciding not to give up on my hope for a new watering hole, I ordered something different. The server said I would also like… this time around, still no alcohol. MP and his BFF decided to switch to scotch, which they enjoyed. After my third juice pouch, I stuck to water.
Another thing I noticed was that she said they specialize in custom cocktails, but I can’t tell you how many people I saw with the exact same drink (s) I was having. Or over hearing the server explain the same drink to another table. Also, different people holding drinks that were all the same. Methinks they have a few cocktails they push on people, that custom (per person) might actually not their thing. When I think of a custom drink, I think… bartender creates this for me. Of course bartenders have a drink they go to more than once, but when 20 people in the same bar are drinking it, that’s no longer custom.
I will say, the service was great and everyone was super nice. Its a super cute place and amazing patio. Just can’t get over the fact that our bar bill was over $ 100 for 7 drinks and I wasn’t even halfway buzzed when I left. Le sad.

Stopped by the Bowen House for the first time at a small happy hour gathering to say goodbye to a colleague. The owners have done a great job of converting a small historic home into a seriously cool, laid-​back joint. It feels more like your own private hangout spot than a bar.
The Tuesday crowd was light, which I appreciated. I hate crowded spaces and long waits for drinks. It seemed an eclectic bunch — some hipsters, some Uptown standards and folks stopping in for a quick drink after work. It made for a really interesting vibe.
We sat at the bar — great service and loved watching the cocktails made. Talk about precision and focus. No sloppy drinks served here. I had a dirty martini (extra dirty). The drink was delicious, but seriously — it was $ 14 and change before tip. That’s a little high for a happy hour session (for one drink), so this would not be the spot that I’d want to kick back for a few drinks with friends on an average work night. A special occasion? That’s a different matter — I’d be back in a heartbeat.

I came here for a friends’ going away party and I probably wouldn’t have known it existed otherwise. It was a pretty warm texas afternoon and the place was having some A/​C issues but I give them four stars anyway due to impeccable service. The owner really took charge of the situation and tried to make everyone happy by trying doors open, doors closed and even gave us a complimentary bottle of wine as a thanks for staying. I also ordered another drink from the bartender, a vodka gimlet. This particular drink can be made a few ways and the bartender even offered some background and history on the drink! She knew her stuff!
Parking is valet and the place is a little hidden… but it definitely looks like a house. (;
Bonus points for the patio furniture with porch swing!

After a fabulous dinner date with my fiancé, we decided to check The Bowen House out. I must say that this review is a tad bit late, for we went here back when they very first opened.
I like how the place really looks like a house. The patio reminds me of the same one my family and I used to sit on back at Cane River. It has a subtle country feel, yet it still possess’ a lounge/​patio vibe.
The inside has a modern and chic look. Since we came here for cocktails only, that’s all we ordered. We weren’t lucky enough to snag a seat at the bar, so we sat at one of the smaller booths. The drinks we had weren’t that memorable, but I’m not opposed to going back. It took a while for us to get drinks, so that was the only hiccup that kind of rubbed our first impression off the wrong way.
I’ll definitely try it again.

This bar looks like a small old house on the outside, and has a 1920’s decorated interior. They play great music too! All the bartenders are drink making artists! Just tell them what kind of drink you like, and they will whip up something fabulous. The only downside is that drinks are pricy, but you pay for the quality. I’ve never had a mediocre drink here. Everything is delicious!
