We were staying at the Doubletree and stumbled on this place on Unilocal.Unsure of what to expect, we left with smiles and a greater love for live comedy. Check it out and enjoy some laughs! All of the comedic personalities were different and entertaining.

This is a must do in Dallas!!! This is a REALLY small venue! REALLYREALLY small! Like, living room small. But don’t worry — this makes it perfect for comedy, because it’s so intimate. It’s a really great thing. There were about 11(yeah! eleven) comedians who had short bits, and it was the longest show I’ve ever been to — about 2 ½ hours! Some were amazing, some so-so. If I lived in Dallas, this would be my regular spot! I loved how many comedians there were, so all tastes were catered to. I really can’t recommend this place enough. I kind of wish it wasn’t SO small, but not really, because the intimacy if being so close to the comedian is something you don’t find anywhere else. The food + bar is by Doubletree. A full bar is served during the show. Unfortunately, they ran out of limes, so I didn’t get a mojito, and after trying about three pints of their ice cream, I found it all had been heat shocked(those ice crystals that form when you refreeze ice cream {because your freezer fails}). But all of that is Doubletree — not Backdoor. I saw some of the best comedy I’ve ever seen here, and I really am still laughing about some it. I can’t wait to go back, and I hope you will too!

2 hours of non-stop laughs for $ 14? Whaaaat? So happy we chose to attend. It was so much fun. We saw a dozen comedians, all different genres and experience levels but they all had funny in common. There were no breaks in between sets, the comedians just kept rolling in! The venue is tiny an therefore intimate. They, as most comedy clubs, have a 2 purchase item minimum with very decent prices. If we come back to Dallas, we will most definitely stop by again.

Awesome! My wife and I went not knowing what to expect. It was so good we didn’t want to leave! Had a couple bottles of champagne and the spinach dip was superb! Will definitely be going again!!! Both of our jaws hurt from laughing so much!!!

My boyfriend & I went to Backdoor Comedy on a Friday night. It takes a lot to make my boyfriend laugh but not so much for myself. However, I figured why not, also adding neither one of us is from Texas & wanted to experience something new. Backdoor is located in a very small conference room in a popular hotel. It is live stand up comedy for new comedians, therefore this place would be a hit & miss on good comedians. I think we saw about 8 – 10 comedians & maybe 4 – 5 of them were actually really funny. Would I visit Backdoor again? Yes! I would consider Backdoor a good date night option.

This is the smallest comedy club I have ever been in. They have about 10 comedians coming in to tell jokes. Some are good, some are decent. I think it is the luck of the draw on who you get that night. I think it seems to be mostly comedians who are trying to get out there. There is a two item minimum. I didn’t know that. There wasn’t much on the menu.

First thought when you walk in is what the heck! Space and stage are miniature sized. Seating is old banquet chairs and tables, room holds about 30 people. Menu has about five unhealthy choices of food to eat so eat before you go and take the two drink minimum thou drinks are weak and about $ 9.00 a pop. They have a full bar but they couldn’t make any of the drinks I asked for. Comedians about 10 of them ranged from horrible to I want to see them again. Even though I rated them a 3 star I would say go try them out on a day when you have nothing else to do!

I have been to comedy clubs in from Boston to Seattle and this club was absolutely great. The environment is classy if you want to take a date, and you get to see some really good comedians working out their material. Not everything works, and that is part of live comedy, but the sets are short, so you’re constantly being entertained with new comedians. Tix are 15. I had quesadilla for 9 and cheesecake for 6 both were really good and not bar food as the club is actually in an upscale hotel. This is a better date than most options out there, and at a reasonable price. Seriously, this show is a steal.

These guys have awesome stand up. I came here years ago and I think they were still laughing hyena. They have stayed the same though, their comedians are all hilarious — and i really like how they have around 8 different comedians per show, giving variety, different styles and a break if you don’t especially like a comics style. I am making this place my goto comedy club venue!

A place where dreams come alive. Local comics and seasoned veterans give this place a very Austin Texas feel. Comics are funny and the hotel location is nice. Great place for a Friday night date.

I’m sorry, I rarely leave bad reviews but this was by far the worst comedy club I’ve ever been to in my life. I went on a Saturday night where it was advertised as «the best of comedy show,» so I figured they weeded out all the bad comics. Well long story short, out of 10 comics, only one was decent, and he was the last comic. Some were forgetting jokes and most of the crowd were giving charity laughs. I’m new to Dallas from New York so I haven’t been but to one other comedy club called, Improv, which is in Addison. I highly recommend going there instead and don’t even waste your time coming here. You won’t laugh. I actually felt bad for them. Some of the crowd was so uninterested that they were talking while the comic was attempting to make a joke, and the whole room could hear them because the room is so small. Just AVOID!!!

We just got back from the Backdoor Comedy show at the Doubletree hotel in Dallas. Well, I think we saw 9 difference comedians. Of the 9, 4 were good, had everyone laughing most of the time. 3 were so-so, a few laughs but they weren’t on very long, maybe 3 – 5 minutes. Then there was the only woman performer who actually stunk. Not one laugh in the audience. She was TERRIBLE! I felt bad for her. Then the last stand-up guy was hilarious. He was on the longest, like 20 minutes and I can see why he is the closer because he was great. Would I go back? maybe. Not bad for $ 12.

Last minute plans with friends in town and we had a blast! At first this place sounded really small & scary– it’s in the Doubletree hotel and is intimate. Good service and on the night we were there we ended up getting bonus comedians because several were in town for Mothers Day. Don’t recall the name of comedian but he was headlining at house of blues a month later. Lots of laughs and cheap! !

This is an extremely small comedy venue that is inside the double tree hotel. A friend of mine invited me here, and I like comedy clubs. The set up is different though. They have several comedians that peform, but their set is only like 5 minutes. Some where hilarious and some were not so funny. So, it’s probably a good thing that their sets weren’t as long. As for the seating area, they cramp you in there! I was playing musical chairs because I couldn’t get comfortable. If you go hungry, do not expect anything great, the food was below average in my opinion. A friend of mine ordered queso, it was NASTY! Other than that, it’s a cool spot to go to if you want to laugh. It’s $ 14 to get in.

Very small intimate venue(not sure what to call it). Came here with a group of 5. Pretty inexpensive for some great laughs. Call ahead to reserve seats, they will take your credit card to hold but you can pay however you want when you get there. There is a small break if you pay cash. They will only charge your card if you are a no show. I came on a Friday night and there were about 9 or 10 comics. There was no down time between sets. Which could be good and bad, some comics didn’t have as much material or time on stage as others. If you leave for the restroom you will miss at least one comic. All the acts were pretty clean too. The seats are jam packed in but it wasn’t very crowded the night we went so thankfully that wasn’t an issue for us. No shoulder to shoulder with any strangers this night. If you’re tall, skinny, beautiful and female you will be put up front and the comics will notice you… and comment. A few even gawked a little too long if you know what I mean. Most of the comics were very funny a few not as much but for the most part I had some great laughs from them all. Website says 2 item minimum but they didn’t really enforce it. Even though we did almost order the minimum and our bill was under $ 20. Eat before you come the food/snack options are slim. The queso was just canned nacho cheese that you’d find at any kids sporting concession stand but the chips were good. If you do need to eat here then come early so you can get your food before it starts. Once the comics start flowing everyone in the room is fair game. They are 18& up so I was able to bring my daughter and her boyfriend. Which was their first comedy experience and they loved it. If you enjoy laughing, and watching other people get made fun of… then definitely check this place out at last once.

Every time I’m in town I always make sure to come back. I love their«no obscene jokes» rule which pretty much defies comedy club standards. Having it really makes Backdoor Comedy into a one of a kind place where comedians can shine outside of bathroom humor or sex jokes and a great spot to bring just about anyone. Some people might dislike that the room isn’t too large, but it creates a definite connection between the comics and the audience. If you bring a birthday or wedding party they can even include your special guest in the act which can make for a very hilarious time. Instead of a headliner comic where the whole show is based on one act, you get about 7 comics that each bring their own style. Even if you don’t like a comic they only take up about 10 minutes of a 2 hour show, which is a fantastic deal for $ 12. I would highly recommend this club to anyone, and in particular to any groups looking for a great time that might want to avoid the raunchy and gross comedy that has pretty much become the standard of comedy clubs everywhere.

My girlfriend and I went on a date here the other night after reading the great reviews on Unilocal and definitely worth the cheap entry. As with any local comedy club there were some duds but there were also some comedians that were making me pee my pants! If you are looking for something low key to do on Friday night I highly recommend giving Backdoor a chance.

The location is weird, and hard to find, and the room is offputtingly small, but the comedy for the most part is rock solid and very entertaining. I didn’t like all the comics, but that is really a personal taste issue, and to each his own. The fun part about the intimacy of the room is that it is easy to bump into the comics before or after the show and say hello. The service was painfully slow, but the prices weren’t too bad. The salsa was surprisingly delicious. Will definitely go back.

My wife and I wanted to go to a comedy show last night and given that it was a last minute decision we figured the Addison Improv would be the wrong place to go. So we decided to try something new. I googled for Dallas Comedy and found Backdoor Comedy. I called to find out more information and was shocked to be speaking directly with one of the co-founders on the phone — Jan Norton. Jan was very helpful and the way she explained everything, I was sold. I booked the two of us and then an hour later we were at the show. The tickets are $ 12 cash or $ 14 on credit card. They do have a 2 items per person ordering rule where you have to order either food, drinks, etc. That’s pretty typical of these places, but they are not very strict about it which is nice. And their food prices are very low and portions are large. The chips and salsa is only 3 – 4 bucks and the Salsa is Spicilicous :) We didn’t order the Chicken Quesadillas since we ate prior to going there, but they are quite large as well and can be shared by 2 people. Expect it to be a packed house with a very small and intimate setting of about 35 – 50 people in a small room. We were in the company of a bachelor party and a bachelorette party and we enjoyed watching them being picked on. When you arrive, you are taken to your table by the hostess. She sometimes will ask you for your preference of seating and sometimes she will just chose your place, but you can ask her for a different spot without fear if you don’t like the spot she chose. The room is pretty small so it really doesn’t make a big difference. As to the comedy show itself, I thought it was great. I really didn’t expect so many comedians to appear one after another. I thought it would never end which was great. Linda, another co-founder, was probably the best in my opinion. I forgot all their names, but there was a pale guy whose day job is being an Engineer, who starts off a bit dull, but its all part of his act, which was awesome! There is an Asian comedian, but I think he is just getting started as he seemed a bit nervous in my opinion, but his dog joke was funny. But, he still beats the guy who claims himself as the«hipster who was killed by PCS wireless». Also their jokes are for the most part clean and safe for families to go as well. For $ 12 per person, I thought it was hell of a show for 2 full hours worth of entertainment. I highly recommend it to anyone as this is a must see in town!

Several Friday’s ago we celebrated a friend’s birthday here. It was about $ 14 to get in. The Comedy Club is located inside the Double Tree Hotel. Come in and go to the right. There’s a bar that you can order drinks from, but there are also waiters that you can order from once you are seated. They serve food too, although we had already eaten so I can not comment on what they had or if it was any good. I absolutely loved the mix of comedians. We probably saw about 10 that night. Some were funnier than others, obviously. Overall it was a good time and my face hurt from laughing so much.
