I have never been to an open mic that was more fun! Like a lot of comedy club regulars, I also enjoy doing comedy and testing out stuff during Open Mics; however, my first time at DCH I was an attendee not a comedian and these guys had me rolling all night! The comedians at the open mic are polished and hilarious. If you don’t want to sit through the entire open(which is on Tuesday) there are improv rounds going on in the next room! Attendees are free to bounce between the rooms and leave themselves entertained and gawfawing for hours on end! I watched about 2 hours of the mic before wandering over to see what was happening during the improv sessions. The open improv, much like the mic, is incredibly high quality with talented people teaming up to tickle you silly(that sounds a little weird but you know what I mean). They are also a super welcoming group of people, encouraging first timers to get up and participate in some of the games and scenes. After the opens, people tend to mill around and chat. Honestly, I’ve never met a more welcoming and happy group of comedians. The vibe of the place is very collaborative and encouraging with people who are willing to have fun and make friends. I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to have found such an awesome club with such cool people here in Dallas. (Note: if you are looking to sign up for the open mic, their website is a little confusing. It is NOT a show-up-sign-up. You have to e-mail to get on the list. Don’t fear though, there is a standby in case anyone drops or no-shows during the evening)

I had no idea this place even existed. I came here to support a coworker of my husband’s who was performing in an improv showcase. I was really impressed with the space, much nicer then I was expecting. While, I probably wouldn’t come to one of the showcases unless I was supporting a friend, I now know this place exists and will be looking to come back for future shows. The rooms are small, the bar is nice and has a good selection and its in a good location in Deep Ellum, so great for going out afterwards. There is a pay lot pretty much across the street, which makes for easy in and out as well. Tickets seems reasonably priced and service was good.

I had no idea Dallas had an improve scene like Chicago. We might not be up there against Chicago but it was pretty amazing!!! I enjoyed myself for sure. My friend is in Midnight Society so I came to show support. The group did very well. They have different improve shows on certain nights so be sure to check their website. Tickets are affordable and they do have food/drinks. Its a usual improve room so don’t expect a movie theatre room. It seats about 20 people or less. Its definitely an intimate setting so good for date nights or go in a group.

I really enjoyed the King of the Mountain shows here! Some shows are free, others not. There’s a pretty well-stocked bar in the lobby, and you can also order a variety of snacks: sandwiches, chips and guacamole, things of that type. They only have about three high boy tables in the lobby though, so be sure you have a table before ordering food. Inside the theatre, there are a number of small round tables for food and drinks, but you can only access that area minutes before your show begins. The theatre is wide, but shallow. Acoustics are good. Bathrooms are clean and quite large. The people are very friendly and down to earth. Nearest parking is by meter on Main St.

This place needs to work on their customer service. Only comedy club I’ve ever been to that you are not allowed to laugh out loud or participate in the improv session. Ridiculous! If you are looking for a fun place to go and have a good time, don’t waste your time here. Comedy is supposed to be fun. The staff here needs to RELAX!

I came here tonight for my friend’s improv showcase. My hubby and I had no idea this was even here in Deep Ellum. The staff were incredibly friendly and helped us find where to go. This would be a fun outing for a date!

Fun shows, food and good inexpensive drinks. I felt like I was in New York or Chicago! Cool place that’s not pricey.

The space itself is pretty cool. It has a bar in the front with a good selection of beers. There are multiple rooms for different shows to run at the same time. The rooms are intimate, there is no bad seat in the house. Also, it’s walking distance from all of the good Deep Ellum bars. They offer improv classes and shows. I went to the Pavlov’s Dogs show at the end of the month. They cover issues that have been in the news each month, I would definitely recommend it either for a group or as a date

I had a fabulous time here last night! The place is great! They have wonderful drinks and eats — all with cute«pun» names to boot. The lay out is excellent, the staff is friendly, helpful and attentive. I highly recommend it as a great date night, ladies night out, guys night out or friend gathering. Support local comedy!

New and improved location, but still in the heart of Deep Ellum. The comedy is still top notch and they have a training center(yes, you DO need to take improv classes — they’re fun, you get to know people, and no matter what you do professionally, improv will help you out). But now they have a building that lives up to their talent. The extra space allows them to offer food and an expanded drink selection. Plus it means you can better mingle in the bar area and not have to hold your breath to squeeze past other people. There’s also 2 theaters instead of just the 1, which will allow them to offer a bigger variety of comedy and to nurture more up-and-coming performers. The bread and butter of DCH is long-form improv(think Saturday Night Live sketches made up on the spot, as opposed to short-form improv, which is Whose Line Is It Anyway style games). However, they do offer some short form, most notably in the family friendly show Saturday nights. I took my 2 favorite kiddos to that and they wouldn’t shut up about how awesome it was — I definitely rocked the Cool Aunt Michelle label for a while after that. They also offer sketch(non-improvised performances) and stand-up comedy. No matter what you see, you will have a great time and laugh until it hurts. Tickets can be bought at the door or on the website. Some shows may sell out, so if you are set on seeing a specific act, you may want to get the tickets in advance. DCH also periodically brings in guest performers from around the country, mostly notably during their annual comedy festival. Definitely buy any tickets for out-of-town performers in advance, as those are almost guaranteed to sell out. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. And while there’s no bad seats in the small, intimate theaters, it’s a good idea to get there 15 – 20 minutes before the show starts to get a seat and enjoy a drink while you wait for the show to start.

The new location at 3025 Main St. is awesome. I’m currently in classes next door and I am loving them! The teachers are down to earth, funny and so supportive. I’ve been terrified of improv most of my life. I’m the girl that clings to her notecards/script whenever onstage. It’s been such a treat to let that go and get creative. I also feel like I’ve been more present and quick on my feet in my daily life outside of class. The actual performance space is awesome. The stage is much bigger(longer) than most comedy stages I’ve seen. I’ve seen a couple shows here so far and always enjoy myself. Seriously, if you are looking for a unique, fun date night, this is the place! They do jams every Tuesday where anyone can get up and try their hand at improve. Check out the calendar — there are so many shows! You won’t regret it!

The theater is better and bigger than ever at the new location. There are two stages with a continual stream of shows, including sketch, improv and stand-up, plus an enlarged bar to hang out in, featuring a state of the art jukebox. Come order the Steve Martini, which I invented, or any one of the other specialty cocktail, or your favorite local beers and cider on tap(Blood & Honey, Suicider, etc). A lot of heart has gone into making this space an exciting comedy destination, but also a place that you can call a second home. Do yourself a favor and check it out!

Great staff and the new location is very nice though still being cleaned up. I highly recommend to everyone to at least take the level one class. Improvising is much less scary than I thought it would be and everyone at the center is very friendly and welcoming. If you are interested in trying new things it is a great experience. If you are new to the city it is a great way to meet a lot of friendly people and make new friends from all walks of life.
