We specialize in hand-​crafted, made from scratch, artisanal pies and baked goods. We source our ingredients from local farmers market and use organic ingredients whenever possible. We also cater events of all sizes including birthdays, weddings, corporate events and more.

History

Established in 2014.

Sugar Pie Honey Buns was started by pastry chef, Michelle Park, who has been working in the restaurant business for 10 years in New York and Los Angeles. She left the restaurant world to pursue her dreams of owning her own bakery. Sugar Pie Honey Buns was created to provide the community with quality hand made pies and pastries, made with only the best produce from local farmers markets.

Business Owner

Michelle is pastry chef, animal lover, and adventurer. She trained at the Institute of Culinary Education in New York. For a decade, she honed her skills in New York and Los Angeles establishments like the Michelin Star-​rated restaurant Public, Frankies 457, Prime Meats and One Girl Cookies in Brooklyn. She was also the pastry chef at Kyotofu and Akasha. In 2012, she was a contestant on the Food Network show, Sweet Genius, and has made appearances on Martha Stewart’s Sirius XM radio show.

They’ve done it again! I ordered two pies for Thanksgiving this year (triple berry lattice and maple pumpkin), and both were huge hits. On the customer service side, Michelle and John were incredibly kind enough to meet prior to their scheduled Thanksgiving pick-​up hours. I could not have been more grateful.

A coworker of mine’s favorite type of pie is a very specific pie — strawberry rhubarb. I couldn’t find anywhere that would make such a pie, but when I emailed Michelle at Sugar Pie, Honey Buns, they were more than willing to take on the challenge. The pie was a huge success and I was very pleased and satisfied with the service — Michelle was very communicative and easy to work with.

If I could give them more stars, I would! What a find. I wanted to surprise my husband on his birthday and send some goodies to his office. Sugar Pie, Honey Buns took care of everything and couldn’t have been more helpful even though I gave only one day notice. I had my fingers crossed that the pies were as delicious as they looked and they didn’t disappoint. Comments ranged from «best pie I’ve ever had!» to «absolutely the best pie I’ve ever had!». I ordered the Dutch apple, sour cream apple, butter pecan, and lemon blueberry, I can’t wait to try their other pies.

I read about Sugar Pie Honey Buns probably a year ago but we live really far away from their usual farmers market stand. Today we ventured up to DTLA for the Renegade Craft Fair because SPHB would be there. We got a slice of Salted Caramel Apple & Lemon Blueberry. Both were amazing – the best pie we’ve ever had. I’m a pie person over cake, but I’ve had some mediocre pies over the years. These pies were so worth the trip up to LA from south OC. You can tell they use high quality ingredients. And the best thing for us was that the pies were perfectly sweetened – not overly so like lots of pies. We look forward to traveling far to get SPHB pies in the future!!!

I can’t remember when I’ve had a better pie. Accordingly, I give «Suger Pie, Honey Buns» five stars.
We ordered the hand pies (Red Bean Custard, Peach Blackberry, and Triple Berry). They were a big hit including the wood box (ordered separately). The crust is excellent and everything is preservative free. You can taste the extra effort in these handmade artisan pies.
The pies are more expensive than the commercial bakeries but in my opinion they’re not comparable. I rather have one good pie than three cheap pies, but that’s just me. They work really good for special occasions.
They have no store front location so it’s delivery for the Los Angeles Westside only. See their website for the delivery area under «How to Order». This makes it an extra special local thing for now.
Michelle has a special touch and I hope one day she’ll have a restaurant-​bakery so I can try everything she creates.

Huge fan of Sugar Pie, Honey Buns! My family ordered pies for the holidays: Kabocha Pumpkin, Sweet Potato, Bumble Berry, Dutch Sour Cream Apple and the Meyer Lemon. All were fantastic and every family member had their favorite flavor.
I loved the Bumble Berry Lattice Pie… great balance of flavors with an amazing crust. Ingredients were very very fresh. Beautiful presentation as well. The Dutch Sour Cream Apple Pie with Walnut Streusel was also amazing… the crumble on top was my favorite. I was actually craving these pies after the holidays were over.
Another reason why I recommend this place is because Michelle and Jonathan are two of the nicest people you will find. You can really taste Michelle’s passion for baking. It’s as if she’s telling you her personal story one pie at a time. The attention to detail, the passion and the years of experience are very apparent with each bite.
They have easy pick up locations and if within range, they will deliver to your house personally. It’s always great to meet the creators behind the food that you are consuming.
Definitely one of my favorite places on the Westside.

Michelle is great! I was looking to order some Thanksgiving pie to serve at a meeting at work. She was kind enough to have the pies pre-​cut for us and delivered to our office in Culver City. Based on recommendations from Michelle, we got pumpkin, bumble berry, sweet potato and Dutch sour cream Apple. Everyone loved the pies — they all had the perfect level of sweetness. I especially liked the crust — it was very light and flaky. The pumpkin was light with a delicate flavor. The two favorite from our group was the sweet potato and Dutch Apple — it had just the right amount tenderness and crunch with every bite!

Smash hit! I hired Michelle to make cupcakes for my daughters birthday (see pics) after tasting some of her delicious made from scratch baked goods. They looked adorable! They were delicious and were devoured!
Also got to see her at unique LA and eat up some salty caramel hand pie and strawberry rhubarb hand pies too! What a great idea!
If you are looking to have a great baked good and wow your taste buds and your guests hire her for some catering!
