This review is for the wonderful, friendly, and most importantly INCREDIBLY talented Mary!
I felt like I was in a rut with my old salon after about 6 years, so I went to Unilocal and found the amazing reviews of Salon Plush. I went on their website and read through the bios of the stylists and Mary’s really stood out (I love that she teaches hair styling on her days off!). I admit I am probably a pretty boring client… I like my long hair, I love my bangs, and I don’t want to dye it (I know I won’t take the time for upkeep so better not even tread down that road!). However, I was tired with the same ‘ol, same ‘ol so I set up an appointment with Mary to see if she had any suggestions (and to get a much needed trim).
Day of trim: Mary is such a good listener, she sat me down for my consultation and I expected just a normal «OK so you want a trim and refreshing of the layers… got it!» and then be whisked off to the shampoo station. Instead, Mary really listened to what I wanted from my hair and provided great and honest feedback (she suggested not doing a U– or V-​shaped cut at the bottom because it wouldn’t give me as much volume/​weight as a square/​geometrical cut would). She asked me great questions about the how much time I was willing to put into styling each day so she ensured the style would fit my lifestyle. She also gave me quite a few tricks and tips on what I could do to keep my ends from drying out, as well as a really cute way to wear a braid. This was all BEFORE I got shampooed!
Then the shampoo and conditioner experience was so relaxing and the products smelled great! In everything Mary does, she is very deliberate and precise. She doesn’t rush and makes sure you are comfortable and relaxed the whole time. The trim was everything I had hoped for and I was so happy with the shape of the cut and the layers!
During the trim, Mary and I were talking and I was explaining how I back myself in to a boring hair corner (remember I like long hair, I don’t dye it, and I love my bangs) she was telling my about a perm technique that would work great on my hair. It’s called the Eufora Flash Wave and it’s intended to give you beachy waves… definitely not the frizzy, tightly curled perms of the past! I was definitely intrigued and this gave me a perfect way to have some fun with my hair. On the spot I booked a PERM appointment for the next Saturday (from here on out, I am going to call it a Flash Wave because the word «Perm» is NOT AT ALL what the end result turned out to be… so I don’t want to confuse anyone)! I left the salon that day loving my trim and hopeful for the magic Mary could give my hair with the Flash Wave.
I absolutely loved my trim but during the days before my Flash Wave I started to get nervous. So I texted Mary and told her of my concerns. She was very open and explained that the technique (when done right) absolutely would not produce the results I was so afraid of. She even sent a picture along with the text. I was calmed down and ready for the big day!
Day of Flash Wave: Again, I showed up to the appointment and Mary took the time to talk to me and ask about any other concerns I had. When we were all set we started the Flash Wave process. In total, I was in the salon for about 1.5 hours (much faster than I thought!). Yes, the Flash Wave solution kinda smells but it’s only on your hair for about 10 – 15 minutes. Once the Flash Wave was all set and washed and neutralized, Mary took the time to talk through every step of the styling process (given that up until this day I had fine, frizzy, slightly wavy hair that I would blow dry straight… now I had to learn how to style something completely different!). She explained the products she was using, how to apply them, she showed me the amount of products used each time, how to diffuse your hair correctly, etc. Also, she gave me specific directions on what to do and not to do for the first 2 days to ensure I didn’t mess up the Flash Wave. I left the salon a new woman and confident that I would succeed with this hairstyle!
A few days later (and loving my new hairstyle even more each day!) Mary texts to follow-​up on how I am doing (HOW SWEET!)! I did have a question which she answered and told me she is always available for questions, concerns, tips, etc. Seriously, Mary is the greatest hairstylist I have ever had and on top of it she is an amazingly sweet person. I have received TONS of compliments and people truly don’t believe I got a «perm» because of how natural and great it looks!

I just moved to Venice from the OC area and I’ve been looking around for a new hairdresser. My coworker told me to call her amazing hairdresser, Jillian, because she specializes in blondes. Right when I walked into the consultation I knew she was going to work with me and give me the hair I’m looking for! She went above and beyond what I was expecting. The first thing she said when she touched my hair was «oh! I just got inspired!» It made me feel like she truly loves what she is doing and truly cares about her clients. I also loved how she took her time with my hair and detailed it in the end. She gave me amazing advice on how to care for it and what products to use and not to use. I can’t wait for my next appointment! :) you rock Jillian!

I got my hair done by Margot a few weeks back and she was amazing and did an incredible job. Very thorough and detailed work.

Margot! She’s the absolute best. She will hear you out and listen to one’s hair struggles. Her consultative advice and recommendations are on point to achieve the ultimate hair goals. I’ve had my fair shares of hair mishaps with other stylists, but I think that she made up for all them. I’ve never been more happier with my haircut, style and overall #hairgoals, and that is a direct result of the Margot’s talent.

i have been going to MARGOT for color and hi lights for a while. After having traumatic crying sessions after seeing a few other hairdressers in the west side– I finally found a home in Margot’s chair. I have long hair and a tendency to be neurotic about things-​especially color and hair. Margot listens carefully, and takes what I say seriously. She is honest about what is possible and what is not and she does a magical job on my mop. Not to mention she is a wonderful person and a joy to be around.
I’m glad she is at this salon on Washington Blvd too. Parking is easy and it’s a very relaxed vibe inside. Not hectic and not snobby.

I am a client of Shannon and she is the best. I have been going to her for almost 10 years and have never been dissatisfied with her haircut and color. I always get compliments on my hair and it wouldn’t be possible without Shannon’s expertise.

I’ve seen Mary Sinnett for years until I moved out of state. Upon my first visit back to CA, I booked time with Mary – she’s THAT good!

went in for an ombré. I had the picture in hand and was told it was doable. I had natural non dyed hair and when I was quoted on high pricing i figured it was worth it if I would get what I wanted. I came out with a color I did not ask for and that faded with just one wash. The stylist did check on my days after and suggested a redo. Went back to fix the color. When she was done to my surprise the color was the same as my natural hair. No joke so it looks like I did nothing except for the fact that it shines red in the sun where the ombré should have been. I am not confrontational so I just called it a loss and walked out. I was also not impressed with the hair cut … not for the high price anyways. Customer service wise the stylist was very nice, i just wish she would have lived up to her reviews.

I’m not from LA, but was going to be in town for a job interview. I was in the need for a hair cut and being from Chicago you would think I could find someone fabulous in the city. Not so easy, as I’ve had my share of bad haircuts from salons located in the Gold Coast, Streeterville, Lincoln Park and River North. After losing my stylist a couple of years back I’m still on a mission. Since I was going to be in LA, I thought why not, I’ll try a stylist over there. After reading all the rave reviews about this salon, I decided to call them and explain what I was looking for with my hair needs. The lady who answered the phone couldn’t have been more gracious and nice. I explained that I have long wavy hair with long layers. The shorter layers were not blending in well with the longer ones so styling my hair was kind of a challenge. After telling her this, she steered me towards Natalie so I gave her a call. We had a nice conversation over the phone and honestly, I felt like I knew her all of my life. She was just so sweet and personable, which made me feel more at ease and excited about my upcoming hair appointment. What a joy meeting Natalie. She was as nice in person as she was over the phone. She looked my hair over and knew exactly what I wanted and what needed to be done to get it back in shape. She took her time and she was super detailed, which I so much appreciated. The cut she gave me was fabulous! All the layers are now blended in and there is so much movement to my hair. It looked good even when air-​dried, which is a big deal for me, as I don’t like to be dependent on hot styling tools such as flat irons. I’m back in Chicago now and I couldn’t be happier with my cut. It’s super easy to style and it even looks wonderful on the rainy Chicago days. If you’re on a quest for a great stylist, go to Natalie. You will not be disappointed. She is extremely professional and just an overall wonderful person. If I end up relocating to LA, she will be my new stylist without a doubt. Thanks again, Natalie!

Margot is amazing! She has been doing my hair for 5 years and I have never been dissapointed. From color to cuts she is a master. I absolutely love Margot and would recommend her to anyone looking for a great stylist!!!

I was able to get a last minute early appointment with Mary on a Saturday morning. I couldn’t be happier with her service and the results. At her request, I texted her a day before a few photos of what cut and color I wanted, and a current photo of myself. Mary was able to transform my damaged bleached hair to a cute textured bob matching the look I wanted.
I’m so happy to have found Mary and Salon Plush so close to home!

I was having some struggles finding the perfect hair care professional after my hairdresser of 14 years moved away. I called Salon Plush due to the reviews and the added bonus, it was close to home. I was then very quickly put in touch with Mary… She was so responsive and immediately made me feel comfortable. We discussed a game plan, sent pictures of what I wanted and she suggested coming by for a free consultation. The moment I sat in her chair I felt I was in great hands.
I have received so many compliments on my hair color… it goes without saying… I am very happy. The other comment I must add is that Mary truly cares about hair. She uses the best products and discusses a plan on improving the overall health of my hair. I can feel the difference.

Marlowe is amazing! I had long blonde hair and she cut it perfectly into a cool, sexy short hair cut with brown weaved in/​out of highlights. She worked extremely hard to get it just the way I envisioned and it turned out beautiful.

Just checked this place out based on the good Unilocal Reviews, and it did not disappoint! Called on a Sat afternoon, and got in right away with Natalie. She was a sweet heart, and made me feel right at home! I explained that since I have thin flat hair, I needed to bring some life and movement into it via some long layers. She got exactly what I was after, and really took her time to get it perfect. She also checked in after just to make sure I was happy with everything. Would definitely recommend this place!

Margot is my girl. I’ve been going to her from when she was at her last salon, although Salon Plush is much more friendly and comfortable to go to. Margot really takes her time to listen to what you want and check out your natural hair texture to make sure whatever she does will work out when you’re home and left to your own devices. I constantly get stopped by people asking me who cuts my pixie and I happily send them all to Margot! Highly recommended.

This review is long over due! I’ve been seeing Marlowe for about 3 years and love my cut/​color every time! I send folks to here all the time and they are thrilled as well. But the girl stepped it up this past week! After 40 years of poker straight hair something odd happened… It turned curly! (Careful what you wish for!) I didn’t have a clue what to do with it and Marlowe took the time to show me how to style my new rings at home which I can do in 10mins;) Even got some whistles walking down the street… Thank you!

Natalie did an amazing job on my hair! Living in LA as an out-​of-​stater with a hairdresser mom back home has left me looking for a professional I can trust for 5 years. My hair was butchered from my last cut and I’ve been waiting patiently for it to grow out. Natalie did a great job blending a bad grown out side cut into my long hair. Finally a no frills place that knows hair! So happy. If you’re like me, looking for a simple hairdresser to keep your length and cut off dead ends this is the place to go!
