I’m surprised to find that there hasn’t been that many reviews for this center(so far). All of my 5+ instructors have done a superb job in being efficient yet individualizing each participant’s needs and improvements during the class. They’re very encouraging while noticing your effort and pitch in a personal compliment from time to time. Also, the instructors are quite thorough when they try to clarify how to do a certain yoga move and visually take you step by step with sharp detail. To be honest, I had no idea why everyone was almost bare on my first day there. I had no idea what Bikram Yoga was so I had zero expectations except that I would be doing some yoga moves. I’m not entirely out of shape, but the humidity shouldn’t intimidate anyone from trying out this exercise. All you have to do is do your best and you will certainly get a work out. One of the reviews below rated this place based on how it smelled. I mean. it’s 105 degrees, and everyone sweats like a pig, it’s not gonna smell like a garden of roses. And it only gets bad when the room is stuffed and there’s literally two inches of space among each mat — when that happens they try to air the room out by opening the door occasionally and put on scent sticks. I don’t think I’ll really, really get into Bikram Yoga but it truly is an artful workout. You’ll start thinking about how you are dieting throughout the day so you don’t get so dehydrated yet maintain high energy. Furthermore, you’re going to think how to control your breathing better and learn how to discipline your body and your self. It ends up being a little more than just a workout. I don’t specialize in any type of exercise so this was a new experience. my diet consists of regular walking and some cardio on the weekend, and I’ve done a couple sports when I was younger like Tae Kwon Do and Indoor Track. I’ve also done regular yoga, but the room temperature for Bikram make you focus on different aspects on how your body works. I’ve read some of the criticisms for this type of yoga practice and how it is compared to the same calorie burn as walking a few miles a day. but you still work on different muscles in a very humid environment, so you’re going to get different results. They’re two different workouts that will make you focus on two sets of different things. You’re more likely to find someone who is willing to be your walking buddy rather than your Bikram buddy. Anyways, I really wanted to leave a nice review because I got such quality service from this Groupon. usually I just get an «okay.» :)

I have never done Yoga, none the less Bikram, in my life until it was recommended to me by a friend about 4 months ago. I have had shoulder, neck and back problems — and the type of exercise I was doing made things worse. I was was informed this form of yoga was no joke, and be prepared, 90 minutes and 105 degrees.(So let’s say I went in with certain expectations). To say the least first few classes were difficult and discouraging because it is hard — but isn’t anything that is worth something? That was my attitude— and also the instructors let you know that you have to be consistent. After a month I was convinced and everything came together and is now part of my every day life. Go in with a certain attitude, be prepared, and give it time. The instructors are great, and is like a family.

I sign up for the yoga classes using a Living Social special. I never thought I would enjoy it so much. During the 90 minutes I am in class nothing goes through my mind I am focused on trying to do all the different moves. It is great I leave the worries of work, school, home and everything else outside the classroom doors. I still have a long way to go with learning the movements, however even though the Living Social special expired and I have purchased another month. So my chances to enjoy the classes and learn are still on.

I too bought a Groupon for this location due to the convenience of the location, the hours and the fact I needed a low impact form of physical activity. As a beginner, I had an issue with the fact that the instructor was not demonstrating what the poses were or how to actually follow proper stance. Talking to me while I am sweating and hot like crazy from the back of the room aint going to help. Then there is that god-awful smell. I have never smelled a decomposing body but I assume that’s what it’ll be like. It was such a disgusting experience I couldn’t return. Thank God Groupon refunded my money. If you have no sense of smell and don’t mind risking injuring yourself because the trainer is not showing you the technique, then this is the place for you.

Every staff member I have met has been very courteous, friendly and helpful during the Bikram journey. The yoga room is clean and open and the lobby/changing rooms are clean and inviting. If you are considering Bikram yoga, the Crofton center is a great place to start.
