History

Established in 1998.

Dr. Lew founded Ballas Hearing & Audiology for one simple reason — she felt strongly that each and every patient seeking assistance should be accorded proper care.

The healthcare industry has changed dramatically over the last 15 years and under the existing system, Dr. Lew felt she could no longer give her patients the necessary time or assistance she knew they needed.

One doesn’t just purchase hearing healthcare as a product — it is much more than that. It is a relationship, a two-way partnership — and as such, requires time, listening, understanding, knowledge, accessibility and caring. Dr. Lew believes listening and understanding are the basis of all solid, caring relationships.

Dr. Lew combines her commitment to patients with the latest technology to resolve each patient’s unique communication challenge. After all, if there is no commitment to the patient, then there is only a product. Simply buying a product cannot fulfill these important human needs.

Business Owner

Susan M. Lew, Au.D. completed her undergraduate training at St. Louis University. She was awarded her Bachelor of Science degree and later her Master of Arts degree.

Her employment included the St. Louis County Special School District, followed by St. John’s Mercy Medical Center.

In 1998, Dr. Lew opened her private practice, Ballas Hearing & Audiology. She earned her clinical doctorate, Doctor of Audiology, at the A. T. Still University in Mesa, Arizona. Her studies included speech pathology and audiology.

The challenge of communication, when so much can be misunderstood, intrigued Dr. Lew and propelled her into her current career of hearing rehabilitation.

And so, her career, a desire to eliminate communication barriers, to encourage, develop and rehabilitate relationships, took another path.

The excitement of this challenge remains as fresh today!
