Trader Joe’s

Trader Joe’s holds a special place in my heart. The pre made frozen items are convenient but still seem fresh. Staff goes out of their way to make sure you like what you buy. The only area for improvement is perhaps the store brand bread. Prices are good, unlike similar grocery stores like Whole Foods. But honestly, I haven’t met a person who dislikes Trader Joe’s. So you probably know all of this already.

It has been brought to my attention that indeed, I genuinely may be missing something at TJs, as I mentioned in the previous version of this review. I have, after all, smashed a container of their peanut butter cups harder and faster than I care to admit, so in the name of science and good food, I’m going to form a game plan and head back in.

I normally frequent the Trader Joes on 4^th south in downtown SLC. When I saw this location in a bigger building I thought they would have more selection than the store on 4^th. Not so much. They definitely have more room in the aisles but nothing different than any other location.

Best place to shop! Go here to get groceries! You can sample everything you want and the employees are super nice and very helpful!

Please Please Please bring a location to Saratoga Springs!!! We love this store so much we drive 40 minutes just to shop here as opposed to Walmart and Smiths. We are huge fans of the produce, non gmo options, the organic fair trade coffee/​tea, non dairy options, and the fact that ALL of Trader Joe’s products are excellent quality. I just wished they sold alcohol but I know they have no control over that. Oh the Joys of living in Utah.

I’ve been shopping at Trader Joe’s for years, and I first got familiar with them out of state, which was considered to be a «West Coast Store». The problem with this, is I’ve gotten accustomed to certain products that aren’t available in either of the Utah locations, and that makes me one sad panda!
Overall, I still enjoy shopping here, and I appreciate the great service and prices, as well as the friendly faces I encounter while here. The have a great dried fruit and nut selection, for a pretty good price. Their produce selection has some fun and unique items, however, it’s still pretty small.
I recently stopped at TJ’s with a list of about 10 items, including what I was going to make for dinner. Sadly, they only had 1 of my items on hand. Some of the items are ones they simply don’t carry, don’t carry in the Utah stores, or were simply out of stock on, I was highly shocked to encounter this dilemma.
Often, the lines are long here, as this location still doesn’t seem to have gotten much more efficient in their operations since their grand opening, more than 8 months ago.
Some of my favorite staples from this store are: Tomato Gnucci, frozen mochi (strawberry!!!), pretzel bagels from the bread area, nuts/​dried fruits, cheese, and vegetarian meats (TVP/​gluten).

It’s Trader Joe’s what’s not to love.
This location I find to be better than the downtown one. It’s a got a nice big parking lot (now with cart returns) so you’re not fighting for the one last spot during holiday grocery shopping. It’s bigger inside and there for more spacious. I don’t know that makes it feel like it’s never crowded or if it really is never crowded but my shopping experience is always relaxed here. Like all Trader Joe’s the employees are super helpful and knowledgeable. Curious about what one of their products tastes like (even produce)? Just ask and they’ll give you a sample. The place is always perfectly clean and organized. The location manages to be well stocked most of the times, we’ll see what happens once Thanksgiving and Christmas rolls around.
As for Trader Joe’s in general I love pretty much everything they have. Their frozen section and prepackaged foods are killer. A few of my favorites:
1) Frozen croissants that you take out the night before and let rise then bake off in the morning. AH-​MAZING! Fresh out of your over, flaky and sweet, all the goodness of a bakery but at a quarter of the price. They have place, almond, chocolate and kouign-​amanns.
2) Frozen Indian lunches. They’re perfect for that busy day at the office when you don’t have time to leave but don’t want a cold sandwich. My favorite is the Chicken Tikka Masala. Bewarned the Lamb vindaloo is HOT.
3) Ghost pepper potato chips. They’re phenomenal but unfortunately seasonal. When you see them buy the shelf because they go away without any notice.
4) Bavarian sausages. They’re tiny and delicious and really quick to cook up. They’re my new favorite breakfast meat (shhhh don’t tell bacon).
5) Speaking of which their ends and pieces bacon. For when you’re just going to chop it up for soups or stews or your mouth. It’s cheaper than most other bacon, nice and thick and a great quality.
They have a small, slightly high priced selection of meats and fish. Their produce is always fresh and well stocked. They carry Ezekiel bread and their own brand of sprouted wheat bread as well as every other type of carby goodness you can imagine. They have an awesome selection of coffees and teas. I could keep going but really go check it out for yourself.

If you don’t like Trader Joe’s, get the hell out of here!!!
Their staff is literally the friendliest hipsters I’ve ever encountered and they’re ridiculously helpful. Love that they’ll offer to check back stock for an item, they’ve done this several times without me even asking if they could, IT’S OFFERED!!!
They’re very reasonably priced, especially produce, and super fresh. I was sooooo happy when they put this one in. It’s about ten minutes from where we live but I’ll gladly bypass Macy’s, Walmart and Target for them!

I love this location a lot! I like how open and full of light it is. I am always a big fan of Trader Joe’s for 10 years now. I really love the products, produce, food, and flowers they offer. I love that it is healthier products at great prices, you really can’t beat that.
The employee’s are very very friendly, helpful, and knowledgable about their products. They also go above and beyond to answer questions, and find out the answer if they didn’t know it themselves. I love love this store, and their products, it doesn’t get any better.

I love TJs. They have a great food at great prices. I can buy myself flowers every week which feels great! There two in town now and I couldn’t be happier.

I’m back in Salt Lake! This time, for a wedding. So, of course, our first stop (well, second stop if you count picking up our rental car first) was Trader Joe’s. This one is located on Fort Union Blvd (7200S), really close to the Target and my hotel (FANTASTIC).
First on the list: yogurt covered anything. My girls like the yogurt stars (cookies). The adults like the yogurt covered fruit, and, of course, the sugar free chocolates are a HUGE favorite with the Aunties in the house. Being from Hawaii, the expectation is that EVERYONE gets a gift upon your return from your trip, making Trader Joe’s the ideal gift shop.
Next, all kinds of snacks: mini chocolate chip cookies, ginger snaps, lemon crisps, english toffee, dried fruit, HUGE bars of chocolate, etc.
Our new favorite: cookie butter!!! Imagine a cookie (different flavors of cookies) smashed up and made into a yummy, spreadable form.
*** TIP: If you buy the cookie butter, you need to put it in your checked bag. TSA will confiscate it if it’s in your carry on. As the guy at the Trader Joe’s checkout said, «TSA has more cookie butter than the state of Hawaii.» :-(
******TIP2: DO NOT PACK anything chocolate in your check-​in luggage during the summer. You’ll get your gifts back as a huge lump of chocogunk.
Anyway, this Trader Joe’s store was:
+ Easy to find.
+ VERY large.
+ Lots of selection.
+ Staff was VERY friendly.

I’ll admit that I didn’t care for this store at first, but about two weeks ago I started shopping here for frozen/​prepared dinners. I recently had a biopsy that found cancer, so cooking for me and my fiancé hasn’t been the top of the list. But their frozen food is great. But that isn’t why I’m writing today.
A week ago I wandered in with my fiancé to get all the supplies we would need for my first chemo treatment and some food for the freezer. Of course it was busy, and of course other patrons were acting like they were the only ones who existed, but we got our stuff and got in line.
Our cashier, Levi, asked us if we had any fun plans, at first we said no, but when he pushed we mentioned the upcoming chemo. Instead of getting weird and quiet, Levi told us about an upcoming walk for my type of cancer (Lymphoma), wished us the best and gave me a primrose from his endcap. Now I’m not saying that my visit it typical, but it took every fiber of my being not to start sobbing.
Levi’s act of kindness has bought a customer for life.

Trader Joes off Ft Union is… a lot smaller than I expected.
I understand this store is more popular in California and have heard about their 2buckChuck wine (which they cant sell in Utah), so I dont know what that hype is all about.
I picked up a few things on my lunch break, I got some sushi, snacks, and lemonade. The food was good. For store bought sushi it was alright and most importantly, I didnt get sick! Sweet!
Will I shop here again? Maybe for another snack, but I wouldnt grocery shop here or anything. I didnt love or hate this place, it’s somewhat bland, somewhat generic, somewhat ordinary.
3 Stars A-​OK to me, describes my experience.

I absolutely LOVE this place. This review isn’t specific to this location, just all Trader Joe’s in general. I always leave happier than when I stepped in the door, which is saying something considering how much I hate grocery shopping.
The staff is SO FRIENDLY. I’ve never come across someone who wasn’t in a great mood. They’re really helpful and go out of their way to help you find something. Very fresh produce and their flowers last forever! As a picky eater I’m sometimes hesitant to try new things but if you don’t like something Trader Joe’s lets you brig it back! Seriously bests customer service everywhere. I will always be loyal to Trader Joe’s!

Steady between 3 and 4 stars, but there are a lot of things that I do enjoy, Happy Friday 4 it ’tis!
Their good side:
1. Pre-​Packaged Meals.
~Tangent: They have everything, frozen meals to fresh pastas, that will fit anyones lifestyle choices (vegetarian, vegan, carnivores, herbivores, foodavores). They are CHEAP and I mean $ 2 for spinach raviolis and a $ 1.40 for pasta sauce. quick easy and so tasty. Or Tikka Masala, or falafel, or a one person entrée, family meals, or a breakfast platter. It is a game changer.
2. Soft pretzels for $ 1.
3. Fresh breads and pre made cheese platters along with a good assortment of packaged sausages — very convenient and very inexpensive.
3. Their coffee — $ 5 for dark roast or medium roast beans
4. Unique items that you may only find in a specialty store without the hefty price tag
5. Store is clean, efficient, you can’t get lost in here!!, staff is AWESOME — always so friendly and helpful.
6. They have beautiful foliage.
The ugly red-​headed step child:
1. This is what you call fruits and vegetables? $.19 PER banana? Girl, you crazy. Bought a couple of items, such as a red onion and the entire inner layer was rotten.
2. No Deli.
3. Cannot do all of the grocery shopping here which makes it a stop for the prepackaged last minute dinner idea, or specialty items.
4. No Wine (technicality).
Up the fruit and veggies section, throw in a sliced meat section, and I am yours TJ.

This location seems way bigger than the downtown store, making it easier to navigate the aisles at this Trader Joes. The selection is great and the staff helped me find a couple odd items to bake this week.
I love their breads, tortillas, ground turkey, wild salmon, and pre-​packaged salads. When it comes to canned items, you’ll find the pricing is a little upwards of what you would normally find at Smith’s or Fresh Market, but the quality is supreme!
I’m not in this area very often, but it’s refreshing that Trader Joes has decided to expand all it’s glory in the valley. Never have had a bad experience and this location left a good impression.

A bit overpriced for my taste. I have only visited once, and my rating is because I enjoy lower prices when I grocery shop.
I like that the employees are friendly and knowledgeable, and that they have some samples. The store was clean and well laid out. The store seems a bit small for all that they offer, and the fact that they are very busy, it would be nice to have a bit more room for all that they have crammed in there, but it is well laid out for what they provide. There are many gluten free options and my husband really enjoyed the veggie chips we bought there. They do have more healthy varieties than found anywhere else which I like, and if I am in the mood for healthy pre-​made items, this is the place.

If you can’t cook or don’t have time to cook, this is your joint right here. Tons of pre-​packaged meals fresh and frozen. Sure that pre-​made salad looks good, but how long has it been in there?
Feel like Indian. Check! Maybe you are looking for Chinese. They got those meals ready for you too. The ethnic frozen food selection is over the top. I passed every kind of Asian food possible in the frozen food isle. As I went down the next isle, I realized that it was just the tip of the iceberg. There was Italian and Mexican waiting for me around the corner.
Good selection of organic vegetables at cheap prices. One thing I did not like is that most of the veggies here are super packaged in plastic. If you need one red pepper, too bad for you. You get three plastic wrapped together. No pickin and choosing the freshest either. They did have a killer deal on a bag of 5 organic avocados. But you can’t choose the ripeness you desire. Such a paradox.
I loved checking out the new store. I attempted to do a weeks supply of grocery shopping here, but alas I had to stop at Whole Foods to finish my shopping. They may not have everything you would need at a grocery store, but they certainly had a unique and tantalizing selection to choose from.

Oh my heavens. Buddy the Elf says it perfectly, «I’m in love, I’m in love, and I don’t care who knows it!»
This is my first time even hearing about Trader Joe’s, and let me tell you that I wasn’t disappointed in the slightest. The best way to win my heart (as well as 5 stars) is clean and organized merchandise, stellar customer service, and free samples. All of which this quaint grocery store NAILED.
Clean and organized: Between the awesome flower shoppe in the front, the fun signs, and the bins chuck full of goodies, I could not keep my jaw off of the floor. Even though there were hoards of people, everyone was kind and didn’t make a mess of the store. Basically everyone who shops there is classy, which makes sense because it’s a classy place.
Customer service: All of the employees were top notch. Very kind, very talkative, and very helpful. One employee especially, and unfortunately I cannot remember her name – but she had black hair and it started with an «A”– was exceptional. I was asking about some chips when she just pulled it off of the shelf and had me sample them right then and there! When I told her that it was totally fine and she didn’t need to do that for me, she replied with, «Oh, we don’t want you to get all the way home and hate what you bought!» However, it turns out the chips I sampled were incredible and I ended up purchasing two bags (in case you were wondering, they were popcorn chips in a black bag).
The samples: Again, the employees are more than willing to have you try their products. I sampled cheese in the front and made my way to the back where they were sampling cranberry juice. ALL of which was awesome.
TIPS & TRICKS:
* This Trader Joe’s is brand spankin’ new, so it is busy. If you’re not a fan of that, I would recommend doing your shopping earlier than later, chances are you’ll miss the afternoon shoppers.
* Be sure to take a photo in the «head in the hole» right when you walk in, you can’t miss it.

Wow! Huge store, huge selection of frozen product and produce. This store is much bigger than the downtown location.
Lots of sampling going on, TONS of staff available to help. Makes it such a nice experience to come and shop.
Parking lot is huge too, next to TJ Maxx. The flower shop has also a large variety.
Definitely will be my new home town grocery store!
