Specialties

Cypress Bay Farm is a family and goal oriented Hunter Jumper training barn. Whether it is you, your child, or your horse that needs training we possess the patients and skill to bring them to the level at which they were meant to be. We are a f“rom the ground up” barn, meaning we start by teaching the basic horsemanship skills like walking the horse, grooming and tacking up. As the comfort and skill level begin to have a foundation we then proceed to teaching the technical skills that are required to ride a horse successfully. We believe in safety first as this is a dangerous sport, but encourage everyone involved to enjoy the freedom and empowerment that comes with the sport. We hope to see you soon!

History

Established in 2000.

Head trainer Sigourney Gallo started riding when she was six, when her mom Alyson got their first pony. Alyson couldn’t afford to board their pony and pay for training so most of Sigourney’s early training was done by Alyson. At 13 they purchased their second horse a green broke Dutch Warmblood that Sigourney trained herself, along with help from a variety of trainers she was working for in exchange for lessons. Together Sigourney and Alyson have bred three horses in their barn. Lord Laddie, Lord Legend, and Lourdes; Sired by the late Lord Logger. Sigourney has trained a number of her own horses as well as clients horses who were in need of a soft touch. Sigourney has competed up and down the west coast, and taken students to competitions around Southern California. Sigourney was taught fundamentals of dressage and continues to use them to teach beginner riders and young horses to be more balanced and softer.
