The Feed Barn

A regular feed store. Everything I need to raise my free range back yard chickens.. from chicken feed to great prices on hay! I received some great advice and tips. Verify hours as certain days they close early. I’m thrilled I live near by.

This is the last of the real honest to goodness feed stores with food for everything from a horse to a cat to a squirrel. This is a treasure in our community and I hope people will spend their dollars here rather than the big chain stores. We need these little gems and the way to preserve them is to buy from them.

Been going for alfalfa pellets for puppy litter. The woman who runs it is nice but I found a place closer to home that was selling it for 11 dollars compared to their 17.

I’ve been going here since I was a little kid! Everybody should go here instead of petco or pets mart !

I was in desperate need for Timothy hay for my two bunnies and couldn’t have been more relieved to find a spot close to work. I called ahead of time and the clerk was kind enough to let me know what they had in stock and their prices. I purchased 4 paper grocery bags full of Timothy hay at $ 4.99 each as well as a large bag of oxbow Timothy pellets for ~$ 34. Such a bargain compared to chain stores like Petco or PetSmart. Quality of the hay was great too, will definitely be back for more :)

I have been coming to the Feed Barn for years now. My rabbits love the hay I buy here. It’s a lot fresher than the stuff at chain pet stores (IE — half the bag isn’t dust). Really good quality hay. It’s cheaper, better quality, and you get more than you would at a regular pet store. They also have tons of pellets. Pretty much any kind of feed you might need for your critters.
They have good quality rabbit pellets, and calf manna as well. I had never tried the calf manna before, but they had a mix of it with the regular pellets one day labeled as gourmet rabbit food. Well, let me tell you, my bunnies dig through their food now to pull out those calf manna pellets first. They’re like little mineral and vitamin pellets. And the bunnies think they’re addictive like crack. I’m really happy the bunnies are getting their nutrients and that it’s quality stuff. They don’t go for their mineral lick as often now either.
They have great dog treats too (and all other dog-​related items) Whenever I come in to get the bunnies supplies, I always leave with a little baggie of dog treats as well. My dog really likes their dog bagels.
ALSO, did you know you can rent havahart traps here??? We had a raccoon causing problems in our backyard. I rented a large trap, we baited it and within 2 days we had caught that pesky raccoon and were able to release him far far from our house.
Overall, this place is great. The staff is super friendly and always helpful. I would recommend the Feed Barn to anyone with a pet (of any kind!). At least stop in and check it out, you will be thoroughly surprised at the quality of goods here.

Owner is great, dog friendly, and has organic remedies and food to keep your pets healthy and living the life the life away from processed food that a lot of people fail to realize is bad. The owner, she’s a very nice, helpful and friendly person which is nice to have when you walk into any business. We have been going here a lot and we are happy with it! Try the wishbone treats they are priced well and seems to be a favorite among the dogs, even over the bully sticks.

I love The Feed Barn! A Costa Mesa Classic! All my pet needs and great hair care products for me. The Cowboy Magic is just that… MAGIC!
The only thing keeping me from giving 5 stars… is being closed on Sunday. I need pet food today… but they are closed. boo hoo.

Great selection of quality birdseed that doesn’t leave a lot of mess. Also has all the supplies you need for backyard chickens! Cute store cat is a friendly face greeting you. Call first, however; sometimes they open late.

I love this place! I go here ALL THE TIME for guinea pig food and timmothy hay.
Its such a fun place to go, its been the same staff since forever (ive been going there for 7 years) I love this place. prices are great and I would rather go here than support a petco or petsmart for sure.

I am extremely pleased with the Feed Barn’s prices, customer service, and selection. I needed supplies to bring home baby chicks (heat lamp, feeder tray, pine shavings, starter feed, etc.), and they had it all, including the brand of organic feed I wanted (Scratch and Peck). The lady helped with a couple of questions I had, too. Then they helped load my car! I will be back often. I plan to buy all our chicken supplies and food here.

I called this place today to asked if they carry fish pellets, then came in shortly after for the first time and the lady at the front desk was super friendly.

Summer is here & along with it come the fleas. HAPA Boy, my bully-​pit is kept clean and flea free but on occasion there will be stowaways from the park/​beach or even from the neighborhood pooches.
I was going to use the commercial, off-​the-​shelf flea treatments that was accompanied with warnings such as:
* Poisonous
* Use gloves when applying
* Once applied, avoid contact w/​children
Call me crazy BUT you want me to put this poisonous, dangerous sh*t on my dog?! Uhm, lets look @ alternative options before I put vials of toxic crap on HAPA Boy.
‘And there are quite a few options out there… ‘With GOOGLE and a few choice search words: «natural, flea & tick killer, non-​toxic» — You’re sure to get a number of hits.
‘And while I was there, picked up HAPA his 2^nd Jolly Ball. ($ 21)
I had purchased him the red Jolly Ball a while ago & braddah chewed right through the handle right like it was a bone flavored, gummy bear… ‘The red JB was good, HAPA loved playing with it but it just wasn’t durable enough. 8/​Now, this purple Jolly Ball is «Mo’ BETTAH» for the heavy chewer!

I love this place! I always go here here for guinea pig and chicken supplies. They have the best prices and are very helpful. Anytime I need advice about my chickens I can always count on the nice ladies here to help me out.
I purchased 4 baby chicks in May 2012 and they are all thriving and laying eggs thanks to this place.
They always have what I need in stock and they even load stuff into your car. Keep it up Feed Barn!

I called and asked this store to put a bag of Scratch and Peck chicken feed on hold for me since I was coming from out of town. The lady on the phone gladly agreed to do that for me. I didn’t have time to look around the store but there were cute lil chicks in front of the register and the store appeared well-​stocked.
And we loved the Ben and Jerry’s lookin’ cow display in the parking lot. :)

Very obscure place to find, but certainly got a great deal on timothy hay for my bun!
They sell a variety of LARGE paper grocery bag hay ranging from orchard to timothy to others!
A large bag of timothy was 4.99 $.so much cheaper and fresher than store-​bought hay! However, the hay is NOT cut at all so they come out in long, tangled strings and get absolutely everywhere. but a small price to pay for fresh, green hay!
I will always come back for the hay, but as for the litter… try Petsmart or Petco for a better deal on the 500 cubic feet package.
Not much variety on brands and such but hay and feed is definitely cheaper than store bought brands.
They sell Oxbow and other rabbit food, as well as things for other small animals, dogs, and cats.

Came here on a rainy day looking for hay for my guinea pigs and rabbit. We were totally confused because it looks like the inside of a barn.
This place has everything leafy you could possibly need for your pets! They have various different types of hay (orchard, alfalfa, timothy, oat), and several gourmet type pellets! And you think that this specialty store would be expensive — IT’S NOT! A big bale of hay that would normally cost you 15 bucks at Petco only costs 5 bucks!!! It’s ridiculous. They also sell stuff that normally isn’t sold at the pet stores, like critical care soft food (stuff that you give your rabbit or guinea pig when they have GI stasis).
The place is small, but accommodates your canine, feline, horsey, bunny, piggy, and bird needs! The owners are pretty nice too, and there are two cats that roll around roaming the store who are über cute!

Where has this place been for the last five years or so since I’ve adopted guinea pigs and bunnies? Such a wide variety of hays for them to eat — much more than what you’d see at pet stores, that’s for sure! Normally pet stores only sell Timothy (and maybe alfalfa), but this place has those, plus others such as orchard, which my pets seem to love! Such high quality, fibrous strands of hay that are really aromatic — at only ~$ 5 for a large paper bag full. Such a good deal — not going to get hay anywhere else!

I have been buying dog and bird food here for over 20 years. Recently our favorite dog food has been hard to get. The girls told me that the manufacturer was having problems. They said they could only get limited shipments of the food, and Wednesday was the best day to get some before they sold out. We played this game with them for months. We just found out that the manufacture had a huge Saminella problem!!! The girls omitted telling me about this;-/. Putting my dog’s health in jeopardy, lost them a couple of long term customers!
