Established in 1985.

Stor-​It Self Storage has been making storage easy for over 25 years. Founded in 1985 with one location in Long Beach, we have grown to 13 locations throughout California. Under the brands Stor-​It, Extra Storage and Vault Self Storage we provide everything needed for easy and convenient storage. Mini Storage Messenger and Inside Self Storage Magazine have listed us as a «Top Operator» since 1994, and we are proud members of the Self Storage Association and Better Business Bureau. Stor-​It is still a family owned business and you will find friendly onsite managers at each of our locations. We work hard to offer great service and it shows, many of our tenants are repeat customers!

I just moved back to OC after being away for 6 years up in NorCal. I called on a whim, (somewhat last minute) to see if they could allow me a unit for just 1 month while I transitioned. Not only did they allow me to do that– they were extremely reliable, accommodating, and forthright. Wendy and Kelly keep the entire facility clean, safe, and I never had to worry about my belongings; they run a tight ship to ensure everyone who comes in uses their passcode, and the same upon exiting. No shenanigans.
I’ve stored in other places where there’s questionable happenings occurring on property, not here. It’s spotless. You and your items are definitely in good hands here.

The new management team are horrible. Wendy and Kelly are lazy and provide the worst customer service. I wish old management is back. No matter what the lady writes underneath me from Stor-​it, I was there well before 6:45. More like 6:40.
I called 2 hours ago to verify the time they’d be open. I drove 1 hour to put more stuff into my unit and they locked up 10 minutes early. DO NOT DEPEND on these people. Now I have to drive all the way back.
A month ago, I came to put stuff in my unit and all the carts were locked up. I asked to unlock them. Wendy and Kelly just sat in their lawn chairs saying they were closed. Lazy assholes. Kelly probably had the key on his key chain, sitting there right in front of me smoking a cigarette.

I have to say, Stor-​It Self Storage came through! They were very nice on the phone, and when I came in, I got a free lock to go with my new storage unit. Recently, I had an issue regarding my late charge, and after talking to them, the fee was waived. It’s pretty rare to get such great customer service from most businesses these days… The grounds are always spotless, and the staff are friendly!!! Best place in Costa Mesa. I’ll refer my friends here.

Want your stuff stolen?
Wish I knew the truth about how the management has changed this year. I found out half my stuff was stolen when I went to my unit yesterday. Apparently theft is rampant and upper management could care less. If you want your stuff stolen, I highly recommend storing it here.
I posted pictures of the blatantly broken into lock latch which management said did not in any way make them think there was an issue (besides the fact that the burglars left stuff hanging out under the door and management didn’t think anything of that either.) They claim they walk the units almost everyday and yet it only took me one second to look at the damaged lock latch and know I had been robbed while it looked normal to them.
I was told the police would need a subpoena to get video footage — clearly management doesn’t care and does not want to help. They just want full units and are happy to rent to anyone even if they look like they might be a Thief. The great former managers left after saying there were 15 thefts in a few months due to corporate demanding they rent to anyone.

We moved in almost 4 years ago. In April we learned that thousands of dollars of tools and other stuff was stolen. We also learned of a defect in the units that makes it easier for criminals to break in. The management acted like this never happens, but the police made it clear this is untrue. They were totally unhelpful and somewhat dismissive even when the Costa Mesa Police figured how the criminals entered the unit. It was clear that the criminals spent lots of time in the units. They say that they have security and the police say they are not as bad as others, but the flaw in the units makes it easy for criminals and they hide this from everyone. The unhelpful management makes it worse.

I have rented storage spaces before, and was very fortunate to find this one. The resident managers (Kurt and Robbie) were, and are very friendly and warm, they actually live on the property! the grounds are well maintained, bathroom clean! storage units very clean!!! Huge plus! and prices very reasonable, in fact the best in town I give this STOR-​IT SELF STORAGE 5 STARS

Stor-​It Self Storage is under new management since Jason L. wrote his review in Jan 2011. The new owners, Robbie and Kurt, are the kindest folks you’ll ever meet! They live on-​site and were extremely accommodating when we moved in. I was running late and pulling a full Uhaul trailer that I had to return that night. I called ahead and they generously stayed late to help me get settled. They offered a great discount for the first couple months and were very helpful throughout the process. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for self storage in the area!

Robbie was a joy to work with. I was unsure exactly what day I was going to do the move and knew I was in a time sensitive situation. She was willing to do all teh paperwork and fill in the dates at the time of move in. She and her husband made sure that the space was primed for my move in. Best pricing in the area — and I shopped! Patty and her husband are so nice. Our family had a fire and had to get a 2nd unit, and when we arrived they had all of the paperwork filled out for us from our existing rental, and they also gave us a free disc lock ($ 10) and the first month was $ 16, with no other fees. Even though they knew we only needed the unit for a month or so, they gave us one of the biggest units on the ground floor. I never thought I would write a Unilocal review about our storage, but they really represent everything I love about small business owners and they really blessed us.
